321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wait...If you have bitcoin you get some free BTC cash cons also? on: September 14, 2017, 11:34:06 AM
Hello,ok I was reading now on the forum and more than one person was saying that if you had bitcons before this August one thing happened that you could get some bitcon cash.I guess it depends on your wallet. If this is true then there are probably many people who have some btc cash coming to them. Will those who understand please tell the community what is going on with that
Since the split of bitcoin into two on August 1, there are now two variants of bitcoin: bitcoin core and bitcoin cash, and every body who owned bitcoins before the switch is eligible to get bitcoin cash for his bitcoins.
322  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Has anyone used BitPay? on: September 14, 2017, 10:50:55 AM
I just ordered a TenX card, but I don't think I'll received before december, so I am looking into BitPay to see if it will arrive faster and it's usages. Has anyone used BitPay, is there a waitlist and has it been rejected somewhere?
BitPay allows you to pay for lot of transactions, namecheap.com allows you to pay for domain name registration and hosting with BitPay though the transaction fee is on the high side, it is almost the only portal that allows you to pay to websites.
323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how much fiat currency has been exchanged for bitcoin up until now ? on: September 14, 2017, 10:01:46 AM
That the question. Do we actually have any idea about this ?
There are now lots of online stores that accept bitcoin and so there is now no use to convert your bitcoin to cash, since companies have started accepting bitcoin as a means of payment. BitPay, allows you to pay thousand of sites.
324  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you decide when it's time to sell? on: September 12, 2017, 07:49:14 AM
Nobody wants to be monitoring the prices all day with the cursor on the sell button just waiting to click the mouse, so how do you decide when to sell?

If you set up an open order with a low target price, you'll be disappointed when the price climbs well above your target price.
If you set up an open order with too high a price, you might not sell at all.

What's your strategy?
You were the one who got into the market and bought all the coins yourself so you should make that decision on when to sell yourself. It’s a matter of choice and not about any economic indicator, if it suits you to sell then go by it.
325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin mining becomes illegal world wide? on: September 12, 2017, 06:56:38 AM
Will that be an end of bitcoin? If all mining operations becomes illegal all over the world. Why authorities are against bitcoin mining?

Lets discuss
If it becomes illegal to mine, then that would be when bitcoin would witness tremendous rise in the price of bitcoin, since there would be only few miners to confirm transactions, there would be many transactions to be confirmed by few people and then mining would become profitable.

Now if this was a service offered by someone who had been around for a while I would still be a little leery of it. However, the fact that you do not want this service associated with your regular Forum account that pretty much pushes it past the point of consideration.
327  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for person to create gambling website on: September 12, 2017, 04:48:56 AM
I can create gambling site like this http://oddevenbets.com

You are a owner of a gambling website and you are offering services to your competitors lol ? Do you even think people would take your website seriously if you encourage others to make a website like yours ? No wonder your website is trash and project is such a failure.

Good luck to both of you.
328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin WILL become one world currency. Matter of when, not if. on: September 11, 2017, 12:29:53 PM
The future of money is here, recent price increase is due to lack of trust and confidence in the current fiat system. A lot of buzz going around about bitcoin right now, once we crack the $10k mark... we will see interest explode from the average Joe.

Everyone says "what if I had got in during the early days?"
I say "what if its still early?" Wink
That is not possible, its not going to work, I mean even if any currency supports that, the Uk, Usa and other countries that have backed up their currencies to survive any form of economic depression would not .
329  Economy / Economics / Re: central banks and Bitcoin on: September 11, 2017, 11:55:16 AM
Hey,
I am right now a little bit researching about financial stability and monetary policy.
It seems that monetary policy through a central bank is pretty important for the global financial stability.
For example if there is a financial crisis, central banks try activly to stabilize the financial system.
If Bitcoin would replace fiat money and such a crisis would occur, wouldnt this lead to long term financial instability?

Have you ever asked why the market is not being disturbed by issues relating to the banking sector, its because there is no central bank of Bitcoins, the market is fully owned by users and regulated by them.
330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash blockchain will overtake Bitcoin Core blockchain. on: September 11, 2017, 10:40:27 AM
Bitcoin Cash at 481608.

Bitcoin Core at 481614.

Implications of this happening?

Is Bitcoin Cash producing too many blocks?
I do not expect that to happen since they are both the same based on what I have been reading online, that the bitcoin cash only promises a cheaper transaction fee and faster transaction confirmation, except I’m not getting the info correctly.
331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best source of news? on: September 11, 2017, 09:07:01 AM
News are pretty important.
I think that it is general knowledge that there are events which are affecting or might affect the crypto market situation .
Thus its important to have fast, reliable and objective source of relevant events.

Right now my information sources mainly are: bitcoin.com, this forum and recently vice news

Vice recently had good article : https://news.vice.com/story/bitcoin-and-ether-recovering-from-weekend-crash

Bitcoin.com has pretty unique news feed. But downside is  sponsored articles and i would like more depth ,analysis in market situation and ideally relevant news from China in English.

Which cryto currency related news are the best in your mind ?

There are lots of places you can listen to news from, there are blogs, news websites, youtube videos, and even magazines in which you can pay attention to and you would be able to know and learn about everything happening in the cryptoworld. I think the best so far is bitcointalk.org and that is exactly where you are.
332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Is The Best Way To Store Your Bitcoins Offline? on: September 11, 2017, 08:36:56 AM
I will make sure to update this post using your suggestions that you post here. I want to make sure that this post is a reference to all new bitcoin users who want the best way to secure their new bitcoins.

I've made some big profits recently trading/flipping coins and i want to cash out and convert this profit to bitcoin, but I'm not sure how to store the new bitcoins safely.

I have some ideas about securing my bitcoins, but I'm not sure if they are good enough. I'm only interested in ways to store my bitcoins securely so if it even means that I will not be able to spend them easily, that's fine because I'm planning to keep them in cold store for a very long time, since I'm buy nature a bitcoin HODLer.

I have an old laptop that I'm no longer using, so it's okay to use it for just Bitcoin. I don't want to use a hardware wallet like trezor or other similar wallets.

1) Download the Bitcoin core wallet on my old laptop and create a lot of bitcoin addresses, back-up the wallet into multiple CDs, copy those addresses on a USB stick and transfer them to my Desktop computer that has an internet connection. This way I'm able to fund those Bitcoin addresses without having the private keys or the wallet.dat file on an online computer.

Note that I won't be able to let the computer to fully sync with the network, so is it safe to create multiple Bitcoin address this way even if it the Bitcoin-core hasn't fully Synced yet? Also is it safe to use old versions of Bitcoin-core like version 0.11.1 ?

2) Instead of Bitcoin core, I will use Electrum on this offline laptop and do the same thing as above. The problem here, is can I trust Electrum? and also I will be using an old version of electrum 1.9.8, so is it to use this old version?

3) Download a paper wallet script and use it to generate multiple address, store these addresses and their private keys in multiple CDs and copy the addresses to a USB stick to transfer the addresses to my desktop computer so I can send my earned bitcoins there. My question is, which paper wallet script should I use and can I really trust it?

I will update this post to make sure that contains all information for anyone who's wondering about securing his bitcoins offline.

I have been hearing people ask the best way to store their bitcoin offline, though I don’t know much about how storing it offline is going to work, I just know that people around me use paper wallets to store their coins.
333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What were your experiences with Bitcoin when you first started? on: September 09, 2017, 11:45:24 AM
When I 1st began Bitcoin, I actually experienced a hard time making my 1st put up since I do not know if it really is right or if what I am undertaking is correct. Given that then I started to study heaps and plenty of articles or blog posts and actually tried to learn how the bitcoin planet so that I can do much better factors in the world of bitcoin.
It was hard to believe that it will grow up and my investment will also increase if I buy bitcoin and hold it and not sell it. The other thing was that as bitcoin was new to everyone, so building our trust in bitcoin took a little bit time. And now by God I am very happy and lucky too that I never sell my bitcoin. I have become rich due to increase in bitcoin price and it will grow more and more in future.
334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if BTC was Banned? on: September 09, 2017, 11:05:21 AM
As with all other forms of prohibition, the banning of bitcoin would merely stimulate a black market for the digital currency. At this point the genie is out of the bottle, and there's no turning back. Bitcoin is a legitimate currency, as Japan has recognized. Some nations will ban it, which will only hurt them in the long run.

Yep, Bitcoin won't go away if it gets banned. It is nearly impossible to monitor. The government doesn't have the resources to keep up and track every Bitcoin transaction, so it would still be used. With that said though, it would definitely hurt Bitcoin a lot, because many people follow exactly what the government tells them in terms of propaganda... and if they made Bitcoin out to be something shady that was illegal or only used to buy illegal things then it would not be good. Like you said, any government that does this will end up regretting it in the end.
- Well, Bitcoin is not in the administration of the law, the government can not control it and if they ban Bitcoin, other people will also use it normally, the government can not do anything, turn off the internet, I do not think this is a good idea. In addition, bitcoin is proving its value and potential, it has a huge impact on the economy, many countries are considering to accept and use it, banned bitcoin is not possible, so they are thinking of helping bitcoin more popular to support the economy
The entire world will destroy if the bitcoin was banned. In many topics this issue has been repeated so many times. What will happen if bitcoin die, if bitcoin crashed, if bitcoin fails, if bitcoin locked and so many othersdishearten topics like this one.

I want to ask a question why it would be banned. What will happen? Is bitcoin illegal? If not so then I do not understand why bitcoin will be banned?
335  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the world really needs virtual currencies on: September 06, 2017, 05:46:06 PM
I came across an article this morning that, to me, really shows why the world needs a virtual currency. I'm from England, and there's a saying here that goes: "When America sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold." The article discusses the history of the Asian Financial Crisis, and how we may be heading toward something similar.

It amazes me that we have a currency that can potentially protect us (working people) from global financial crises. This is unique and incredible time in history!  Grin

https://www.rt.com/op-edge/398890-financial-crisis-asia-curency/
The world really needs virtual currency today more than ever, we need to remove the monopoly in which the banks have put on the transaction systems and start being our central banks. But the rate at which cryptos are coming up is annoying though.
336  Economy / Economics / Re: When Bitcoin will be taxed, will it still be as in demand as it right now? on: September 06, 2017, 04:18:51 PM
When Bitcoin will be universally accepted accepted by Government, of course it will be taxed accordingly. Do you think it will still be as in demand as it is right now, that makes its price higher and higher everyday.

Does the bitcoin community is ready for this?
there is no central bank governing the market so I don’t expect it to be taxed and even the transaction fee being paid to miners for transactions should be a form of Tax too, maybe it should be PAYE(pay as you earn) form of tax for bitcoiners.
337  Economy / Economics / Re: In 2013, I wished I was an early bird who bought BTC in 2009. In 2017,... on: September 06, 2017, 02:45:20 PM
In 2013, I wished I was an early bird who bought BTC in 2009.
In 2017, nevermind. Thank God I bought 4 years ago
Actually, same in 2020
Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
I also wish I did the same thing, I knew about bitcoin at its early age when it was still very cheap and I could have even bought 100 bitcoins then, but I didn’t because it was seeming like a fake stuff that wasn’t even viable so I gave up on it then. Now I’m wishing I didn’t.
338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is best cold storage for bitcoin? on: September 06, 2017, 02:07:25 PM

339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why slow transactions? on: September 06, 2017, 12:56:17 PM
I have never seen things slower, when does segwit activate?
The reason for slow transaction of bitcoin is probably because of a low transaction fee, let me use a real life example, if you have customers and they call you to do something, you would go to the highest payer first, that’s how transactions are confirmed too, highest first.
340  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way for steady income on: September 06, 2017, 11:40:13 AM
Hello All,

What you think is the best investment to gain steady income in btc without actively doing anything?
So no trading/gambling/loaning etc.

Steady income more likely to be 'small & secure' than 'big & risky'.

Thanks,
BR Oinas
The best way for a steady income is to diversify investment portfolios, just in case one stops generating income at a good or steady rate then the others can start helping to generate money. Putting all your money into one investment is not a great idea.
