I have been mining here for about 2 years and am a frequent stalker of this board. I am sure Kano and clgrissom3 have had a response to the upcoming activation of SegWit. I just haven't seen it. If someone could link it I would appreciate. I know this isn't the correct thread for this, but most people here seem WAY more level headed and thoughtful then rest of the community about this issue. I have been reading about some of the vulnerabilities of SegWit and how it opens up Bitcoin to security problems ( https://calvinayre.com/2017/06/19/bitcoin/risks-segregated-witness-opening-door-mining-cartels-undermine-bitcoin-network/ and how it seems to me that we as miners will be losing transaction fees as most transaction will be done on side chains, then crammed into our at most 2MB block. So why in the hell are we activating SegWit? And a follow up question then, if we are activating SegWit, when one of these security vulnerabilities is taken advantage of won't it completely destroy the reputation of Bitcoin? If I am misinformed please link me to the correct info. Educational material is always appreciated. Thanks!

I know this is off topic, but Kano always talks up Avalon. Just got another A721 man these things are awesome...just steady hashing machines! Blows Bitmains quality out of the water, so far.

I have a Raspberry 3 running and im pretty sure that i'm using the right software (i checked it several times). Reading this topic, I can say that i burned the image to an used sd card several times.
Regards Jan
I don't know if this will help, but I still needed to restart the cgminer process before the controller recognized the miners.

I did have configuration set, but I did not have access to view the same web gui as Philip had.
So I just typed in: /cgi-bin/luci/;stok=7cf7b0e7c4c587fa903333d06d533a8c/admin/status/cgminerstatus and was able to get to the status page and it had a link to restart cgminer.
Once I restarted CGMINER the controller started communicating with the miners, but no mining still, just the fan running.
I am going to flash an image to the PI tonight and try that.
Weird.
edit: LOL, I was able to also reboot the miners and then they started mining...So whatever...I am still going to flash the image on the PI...shouldn't have to do this everytime. Thanks for the help everyone!
no buy a new card do not flash the oem card. trust me been there done that. sometimes the oem card won't flash correctly. just buy a decent 8gb card from amazon class 10 https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-MicroSDHC-Standard-Packaging-SDSDQUAN-008G-G4A/dp/B00M55C0VU/ref=sr_1_1?get 2 load them both and you will have instant back up see below on your photos click the advanced version tab on left side FYI...Bought 2 micro SD cards as suggested. Flashed the image and the controller is working great! Thanks for the help!

I am new to the Avalon product line and I am having problems getting the Controller to communicate to the miners and start mining. The attached pictures show my setup with 2 Avalon 721 miners and 1 AvalonMiner Controller. I can communicate with the Controller and have configured it to work on my network, but it doesn't show any miners attached. I have tried the following to troubleshoot: Switched to all 4 of the usb ports of the controller Justed hooked 1 miner up Switched miners Bought a new power supply for the controller new usb-to-micro cable for controller to AUC3 switched auc3's The controller is still unable to communicate with the miners. Do I have to flash the sd card in the controller or should it come ready to go out of the box? I have been communicating with Canaan but they have gone silent. I am sure I am missing something stupid, so any suggestions would help. Thanks!

I know this is off topic. Sorry, not sorry. Everyone seems to brag about Canaan vs Bitmain so I want to try the new 721 out. I ordered it and then was told I couldn't pay with Bitcoin. How can Canaan not accept bitcoin for purchase of there miners?! Just had to pay a $100 wire fee. WTF! Sorry just had to vent and this board seems to have a larger amount of sensible people than others.
