Can you zip up and send me your log file? (It's at data/bitcoin/log) I think you were on a fork for some reason, since at that time, my node was saying "Pool: 349GH/s". I suspect that your bitcoind is messed up somehow. What does getinfo show? You were right about bitcoind, it is stuck at block 193933. It is not fork, at the time I made the post hash rate was indeed about 350 GH/s.

I have a problem with latest git version (8.2-4-g677ea87): 100% orphan rate. 2012-10-20 10:43:11.039275 P2Pool: 17344 shares in chain (17349 verified/17349 total) Peers: 17 (7 incoming) 2012-10-20 10:43:11.039406 Local: 529MH/s in last 10.0 minutes Local dead on arrival: ~2.7% (0-10%) Expected time to share: 1.4 hours 2012-10-20 10:43:11.039458 Shares: 19 (19 orphan, 0 dead) Stale rate: ~100.0% (83-100%) Efficiency: ~0.0% (0-18%) Current payout: 0.0000 BTC 2012-10-20 10:43:11.039515 Pool: 304GH/s Stale rate: 6.5% Expected time to block: 8.6 hours Restarting p2pool don't help. Is there any way to fix that? I'm using cgminer 2.8.3 with Radeon HD7970.

I have a strange issue with cgminer... After a day or two of work hash rate starts to slowly drop from usual 440 Mhash/s and reaches 340 Mhash/s within 30-40 minutes where it stops. Restarting cgminer brings hashrate back to usual values. Any ideas why this happens?
Does the utility drop too? Sam The script restarts cgminer right away, so it don't have chance to drop, but p2pool also sees the drop in hash rate, so I guess - yes. At a guess ... 12.4 is your problem ... since I heard it would often just pack up and die for no reason with cgminer. Had same issue with 12.3. I had similar issue with DiabloMiner, but in that case hash rate was dropping below 150. I also think it's a driver issue. I'll try older versions to see if that helps.

Restarting cgminer brings hashrate back to usual values. Any ideas why this happens? Right now I have a script which checks hash rate periodically and restarts cgminer when needed. Ubuntu Linux 12.04, Catalyst 12.4, HD7870.

On btrfs filesystem you can copy data directory with 'cp --reflink'. It will create shared copy-on-write snapshot of data, which can be safely used simultaneously by multiple clients. But new block will be stored separately by each client, so you need to overwrite other copies again with 'cp --reflink' from time to time.

I don't really get this BIP16... Have it turned "pay to password" script into some special case of script? If so, then why the linked above transaction was spent by providing password "22355"? Does BIP16 has some "turn on" switch?

This doesn't seem to fit any of the "standard" script templates ... Can someone more knowledgeable than I am perhaps explain ? This is "password protected" transaction. Whoever knows or have guessed the password can claim the output. ScriptSig would be a cleartext password, which is hashed (OP_HASH160), and the hash is compared to the expected value (OP_EQUAL). Here is an example of claimed output: http://blockexplorer.com/tx/e5779b9e78f9650debc2893fd9636d827b26b4ddfa6a8172fe8708c924f5c39d#i5209086

P2Pool is good when you have a good ATI card. With my old NVIDIA card expected time to share was longer than expexted time to block... Which is not bad, but after some (vary unlucky) period with no shares and 0 BTC payout I switched to p2pmining, which is just a p2pool node.
