681  Other / Meta / Theymos, and programmers of the Bitcoin Forum: An API? Pleeease? on: April 08, 2013, 04:55:05 AM
Could someone, someone at all, try and integrate an API into this forum? It would make things so much easier, and allow for development of lots of different forum projects.
682  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Talk Mobile Version on: April 08, 2013, 04:49:18 AM
Interesting! How did you do that? Scraping and re-formatting?

Basically, yeah. One program scrapes the data and publishes it in a standard format (aka. json api) and then the actual mobile web app uses Ajax to talk to the json api to display the data.

Oh, PLEASE give me a copy of that scraper program!! Cheesy
Is this open source? You should make it open source.
683  Other / Meta / Re: How hard would it be to have a ticker built in the forum somewhere? on: April 08, 2013, 04:45:45 AM
*hits head against wall* AAARGH! SMF, IMPLEMENT AN API! If SMF had a nice API, this forum would be a lot nicer. :\

You can try Bitmit (eBay, but for Bitcoins!)
685  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: "Failed to read block" error on bitcoin-qt on: April 07, 2013, 05:05:16 PM
That sucks. Did you recently change the permissions of your bitcoin folder, or run Bitcoin-QT as root/administrator?
That would limit Bitcoin-QT's access.

Hey Carlos L., do you have any anti-spamming tools on the chat? Or at least a chat log?
Cause some people are constantly saying the same thing over and over again every 5 seconds or so, and it's SO annoying.
Some people...like f153 and zhaicoder. Just saying.

All anti-spam protection will come on the next version.
And yes, I keep chat log.

I banned those two users, thanks for the report.

As mentioned in chat (yes, I'm whiskers121), would you consider a move to IRC? You could iframe an IRC client and set up an IRC server.

Edit: And thanks for the bitcoins! I visit nearly every day! Cheesy
687  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchain Wallet Review on: April 07, 2013, 04:50:15 PM
It is good except for if you are sending or receiving tiny amounts of money because of the fees.
Those are bitcoin tx fees.
NOT blockchain.info's fault! Smiley
688  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 21 million coins question (programming related) on: April 07, 2013, 04:49:42 PM
Is the 21 million coin limit hard coded into the program?

Or is it just a result of the reward halving every few years?

Could someone easily change the bitcoin source code to make an inflationary coin that has no
upper bound, and the reward never halves? Or would major changes have to be made to the source?

(I know an int64 can store a number as big as 18,446,744,073,709,551,615)

*cough* Litecoin *cough* Cheesy

It's simple! Smiley

690  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchain Wallet Review on: April 07, 2013, 04:38:24 PM
Personally, I love blockchain.info and don't use any other wallet. Smiley
It is encrypted by default and is very secure.
blockchain.info NEVER touches unencrypted keys - only your computer does.
Plus - no blockchain downloads, and total address and key control! Cheesy
691  Other / Off-topic / Re: /r/Bitcoin stats on: April 07, 2013, 05:42:55 AM
On my end, it doesn't resolve properly (getaddrinfo ENOTFOUND) but maybe you'll have some luck:

Code:
// whiskers75's /r/Bitcoin Script! :)
// Coded by whiskers75 for theymos and users of the Bitcoin Forum.

var http = require('http');

var options = {
    port: 80,
    hostname: 'http://www.reddit.com',
    method: 'GET',
    path: '/r/bitcoin/about/traffic.json'
};
console.log('Requesting ' + options.hostname + options.path + ':' + options.port + ' (' + options.method + ')');
var req = http.request(options, function(res) {
    res.setEncoding('utf8');
    res.on('data', function (chunk) {
        console.log(chunk);
    });
});
692  Other / Off-topic / Re: /r/Bitcoin stats on: April 07, 2013, 05:27:55 AM
I'll do it automatically if someone writes me a PHP/Python/Perl/Bash script which logs a user onto reddit, fetches http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/about/traffic.json, and then prints it to stdout.
Node.js? Tongue

I'll write one!

You may want to lock this post - the link to do so is near the reply - notify - etc links. Smiley

Like the idea, theymos?
695  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can bitcoins be lost out of existence? on: April 06, 2013, 08:26:32 AM
If that were to happen, the code would change to expand the limit, and everybody would upgrade.
But only if the whole network agreed...

696  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: something has gone seriously wrong - who can help on: April 06, 2013, 08:24:40 AM
Well, it's not crashing, so put in this line:

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://coinotron.com:3334 -u user -p password  -d 0 -d 1 --scrypt --gpu-platform 1 -g 2
697  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: something has gone seriously wrong - who can help on: April 06, 2013, 08:15:00 AM
--scrypt is not a valid CGMiner option (I'm using 2.11.3)

Add the option --gpu-platform 1 and the option -g 2 (you can increase/decrease that number to change the number of threads/GPU)
698  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie confused about Bitcoin-QT transaction (involving transfer and change) on: April 06, 2013, 08:05:04 AM
Thanks. I just don't trust online wallets... although your custom address is very cool! :p

Thanks! Want one? Check out the Vanity Pool - a cheap way to get vanity addresses without worrying about security.

Failed to ADL_Adapter_ID_Get. Error -1 - probably not a problem.

So, have you tried running your batch file with -d 0,1 added? If you do that, you should get the results with both GPUs.
I'm not a mantainer/contributor to cgminer, so you'll need to ask the cgminer devs about the slow speed.
Send any donation BTC to the address below, thanks Smiley
