7. PPTs were "insured" via "Insurance" that was financed through Pirate as well as PPTs. You know, for risk mitigation.
Giggle Test.
1162  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are people over-reacting on MNW's bet? on: September 09, 2012, 11:45:00 PM
hey, did Matt ever even say he wasn't paying?

or are we all assuming he wont?
Didn't you read it? He made up some shitty excuse for a technicality.

no i didn't see it i got here  and their was already 10 threads about it
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=101751.msg1173889#msg1173889

The sad thing is that it wasn't even a good "technicality".
Agreed

When kids did that to me, I blew their mind with "infinity to the infinity" and talk of Aleph1 Tongue

(24-08-2012 05:30:51) steamship: _matthew_, ill buy your debt for 10k if pirate pays.

The time is GMT+1.
If anyone wishes I can PM the whole log. Not posting it cause I don't feel like editing it.
The fun part starts there, with pirate offering to take on his bet and matthew refusing it.
So either...
Matthew truly believed he would win
or...
Matthew's "lesson to the community" and going out with a bang was worth the loss of a potential $100K

 Huh
1166  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: September 09, 2012, 11:25:27 PM
the larger investors in his scheme certainly should be pursuing him.

Well they're certainly not wasting their time here.
As a spectator, I'd like the occasional update in a locked topic.
1167  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: September 09, 2012, 11:08:30 PM
That's a question I had.  Are the bitcoin police pursuing pirate?  That's what I'd like to know.
If you're being sarcastic, I'll respond by saying that the larger investors in his scheme certainly should be pursuing him. If you're not being sarcastic, I don't have an answer.
1168  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: September 09, 2012, 11:07:12 PM
I'm drawn to this quote from MNW:

Quote
I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud

Did anyone who thought Pirate was a fraud receive a 100% ROI from MNW? Thought not.
Asshole's Advocate: they gave him no money and received 0 * 2, which happens to be 0. Fits with his twisted line of reasoning.

I didn't receive a 0 btc Tx from him. I was waiting for one, but none arrived.
Probably because you never sent him a 0 BTC TX.

Grumble.

What about all the time I spent reading this damn thread? Surely that's some kind of investment I made here? I want MNW to spend the same mount of time doing things for me.
Grounds for a scammer tag!
1169  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: September 09, 2012, 11:02:55 PM
By the way, what's with your obsession with short consonant groups?

Acronyms, nimda.

BCB is my nic.  VIP the board gave me for a contribution.  CTG PT and STG were me just testing those fields in my profile and I never bothered to remove them.

Not acronyms, nimda.
While we're offtopic on the obscure page 60, how does one do maths, gangnam style? On a pretend horse? In a hot-tub? At a yoga class?

OP OP OP OP

So why he may not have any credibility he is obviously crazy like a fox.

He did have some credibility before this.  He was eccentric but sometimes a venture need an eccentric but passionate person.

Who knows??  He  was on my ignore list until all this bet stuff started blowing up.  I just find all this redirected pirate anger quite fascinating.
Notice all the attempts to find pirate have stopped, and everyone who claimed to know him haven't spoken a word about his identity.

Fascinating indeed.

I still find it comical. What's BCB mean?

Did you make a bet with matthew?  Did you give him credibility at that time of that bet.  If so that I would have to question your judgement.  If not why are you defending those who did.
I made a bet with matthew. I gave him credibility because:
  • He was a staff member
  • He was well-known and a long-standing member of the community
  • He was editor in-chief of Bitcoin Magazine
  • He had not yet passed his 10K goal when I made the bet

He lost credibility (for me) when:
  • He continued accepting bets beyond the 10K goal
  • He continued accepting bets when it was clear pirate was running
  • He continued accepting bets outside of the original thread

Question away.

I've seen his youtube channel.  He never had any credibility with me.
I saw him dancing with horse masks. Still, putting Bitcoin Magazine in B&N gave him some credibility in my eyes. Did you really think his youtube channel outweighed those first 4 bullet-points?

Same. I thought the chances of him paying out were very slim after the 10k, but still better than zero. I incresed my original bet at the last minute, why not?
Right, why not? I thought the chances of him paying were higher than those of pirate. (I still do, by the way. 0.000001 > 0.0000001)

The ones i've seen are incredibly boring and amateur.  Obvious starved for attention.  Which he is getting plenty of here.  So why he may not have any credibility he is obviously crazy like a fox.
By the way, what's with your obsession with short consonant groups? It's really comical, the "BCB VIP CTG PT STG" thing.

I am soliciting offers for the purchase of my 103 BTC balance at Bitfloor.

I will purchase it for my 36 BTC balance at bitfloor Wink

Nice try.

If I end up filing suit in small claims court for my debt, I would consider acting as your agent as well for a reasonable fee.
Please do file suit.

1176  Economy / Gambling / Re: 100BTC bet on pirate default against RoloTonyBrownTown on: September 09, 2012, 10:04:33 PM
Even though I've won my 5BTC bet due to Pirate/Matthew's default, I'm withdrawing my bet anyway. Rolo got screwed well enough as it is.

Ah Rassah,  I totally forgot about that.   I agreed to pay up if I lost,  so I still will if you want to post an address.
Ooh, send it to the Bitcoin 100!
1177  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: September 09, 2012, 09:55:55 PM
I'm still agonizing over which is funnier... watching the entire spreadsheet worth of bettors get pantsed in public, or the outcry over it.

If anyone who had an IQ reaching into double digits did any background on Matty, and his Hilarious Horde of Hijinks you would have known good and early that this would turn out to be a spoof, a canard, a bon geste. You have all been made out to look as foolish as online personas can possibly be, and every single bettor who lined up for this abuse looks about as intelligent as the losers on To Catch A Predator, who stand there dumbfounded, wondering why they aren't screwing a 14 year old hottie, and they are being grilled on TV instead.

I would imagine the only remorse Matt has is that it fell on the 9th of September, and not the 1st of April.

What a boatload of buffoons! Quick, back into your clown car and go chasing after the next great scheme... you know they next one has to be real...
This needs to stay...too good not to quote.

What abuse exactly? those who made bets lost nothing. Matthew received a scammer tag.

Bad trolls need to stay home.
I'll say it again. Many people used the bet as a hedge; this usage was actually encouraged. Matthew had an undeniable amount of credibility at the time.
I bet (heh) that people did lose money.

1. Investor notices the bet thread
2. Investor notices TYGRR-BOND-P is trading at 0.1 BTC
3. Investor buys 1 share
4. Investor bets 1 BTC
5. MNW exposes the "loophole"
6. Investor is forced to sell his share again, at a loss of 0.04 BTC.

Just because MNW didn't gain doesn't mean others didn't lose. If I break your window, neither of us gain. I'd still be an asshole though, especially if there's no recourse you have against me.
1178  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: ★ VESCUDERO's Risk-free Weekly Term deposits at 1.5% ★ [No availability] on: September 09, 2012, 09:54:14 PM
Food for thought: do you know who MNW is?

I know his name. And I also know he thinks he is out of touch because he apparently lives somewhere in South Korea. Spain and the USA are hardly comparable in terms of reachability.

On the side note, although Matthew scammed many people with his "bet", he didn't receive one satoshi out of it, so the damages are limited. But discussing this would be clearly off-topic here.
I will repeat myself nonetheless. If I break your window, I don't receive one satoshi from it.

lol why is anyone pissed?

everyone knew he wasn't going to pay up.
no one lost money.
and he got the scammer tag.

probably a lot of people's bets were for 10 times more bitcoin then they actually had, you know just for the off chance that MWN is retarded and did pay out.

1179  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [PENDING] Scammer: Matthew N. Wright on: September 09, 2012, 09:52:16 PM
This is the probably the most blatant large-scale scam I have seen here to date.

And yet no-one lost a single Bitcoin in this one.

Bullshit. I will repeat myself again:
