501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why does everyone keep calling them fees? They're not fees, they're BIDS! on: June 28, 2013, 03:18:52 PM
I was looking through satoshi's posts, and even he said something like "same inputs, same outputs, larger fee."

Unfortunately that doesn't work, because the fee is sum(inputs) - sum(outputs). The only way I can see it working is "same inputs (and one more), same outputs (and one more), larger fee," but that still doesn't seem as optimal as adding the "Respend" scenario to the default miner code.
502  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: An alternative to Mt Gox? on: June 28, 2013, 03:12:59 PM
Avoid the exchanges if you can. Do a trade on the forums / #bitcoin-otc / localbitcoins. The exchanges provide central points of failure (Bad with a capital B) and have fees that you won't need to pay if you trade at spot off-exchange.

504  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yet another analyst :) on: June 28, 2013, 06:14:28 AM
I honestly dont see way up from here. Either down or sideways.

I see good way up from mid-11s/sub-12s.

Quoting this for use three days from now
Re-quoting this for great justice!

History moves so fast in Bitcoinland.

Socialism is too loaded of a word to convey any meaning.

So is captialism and anarchism unfortunately.

We should find new words.
Especially anarchism - "anarchy" is often used to mean "chaos." For me it means "a moral objection to organized theft, murder, and kidnapping on an enormous scale."

See what I did there?

I don't even know what to think when I see threads like that.

Out of curiosity, was pirateat40 a trusted member of the community before his grand finale? It seems as if he was.
Have you ever read Catch-22?

Nope, is it any good?
I highly recommend it. It's worth a trip to a physical library/bookstore.

Then have a beer and look at some posts from August 2012.
507  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Resolved. on: June 28, 2013, 03:38:14 AM
I never scammed you! Take in account that I have spent a lot of time on this discussion and you wrote negative messages damaging my reputation.

You did by breaching the contract.

In addition, I have spent a lot of time on this subject too, and you wrote negative messages damaging my reputation.

I suggest logging out, making a new throwaway, and seeing what 99% of people sees as trust ratings.

Being in DefaultTrust has clout!

I'm sure everyone, including theymos (See page 4), will be happy with this announcement.

If only it were true.

511  Economy / Lending / Re: Lending Website on: June 28, 2013, 12:46:06 AM
I am thinking of using Back Track 5 to test my system.  Would anyone recommend something different for penetration testing?
You better hire a pentester.
512  Economy / Gambling / Re: Group Bet Gamble on Just Dice. on: June 27, 2013, 10:16:19 PM
Max Profit: 135+ and increasing. No one wants to do the biggest bet in dice history? I guess not, was worth a try though.

It's not the biggest bet in dice history though Sad

There's been a few 500 Bitcoin bets on SD Tongue
Just-Dice supports a 14K BTC bet on 98%. AKA the "omgwtfbbq" bet.

Personally I blame mp's vagina banner for the spike in traffic that took the server out.

Huh. I didn't see that in the chat log. Screenshot?

516  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Sick of surveillance on: June 26, 2013, 01:51:01 PM
BitMessage is good in some aspects, but it is unusable and will never get any real traction.

You do not need a peer to peer network for broadcasting messages. You just need a simple, address based encryption client. Geeks will set up their own servers that they fetch messages from. Others will probably use a public (funded via donations) or paid (eg a buck per X MB transfer).

Heck, just use Bitcoin addresses like GPG. You can communicate through insecure channels.

- Bitmessage hides the sender and receiver of a message
- GPG has been around forever. Have you read Why Johnny Can't Encrypt?
- Bitmessage is designed to have throwaway accounts.
- Servers are not flood resistant like Bitmessage

Governments are good at cutting off the heads of a centrally controlled networks like Napster, but pure P2P networks like Gnutella and Tor seem to be holding their own.
517  Economy / Services / Re: What would simple script/bot cost me ? on: June 26, 2013, 05:33:14 AM
Not so simple as reading HTML folks.

Websockets Wink
The OP has yet to say what dice site it is.

just-dice's sockets are straightforward.
SatoshiDICE doesn't even use sockets
etc

If "seller" quotes you over 1 BTC, I don't care what operating system or casino you're using, I'll do it for less. He basically has no idea what he's doing.

ROFL.  I will not compete.  If this user thinks he can produce this as a working program on a site unseen system for $100 he is a fool.  Take his deal through an escrow agent.  And then come to me when he fails miserably.  For $100 he can complete it in under 2 hours I'm sure.

ROFL!
You seem to have missed the prior feedback there...
There's also the fact that I've already produced bots for just-dice and SatoshiDICE...

520  Other / Meta / Re: Signature Advertising is Getting Out Of Hand on: June 26, 2013, 03:04:57 AM
I think a poll is in order, to determine if people want to remove large, colored fonts, with hideous  backgrounds in signatures.
Voluntary response data is meaningless.
