5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / CryptoAlchemy on: August 05, 2013, 08:51:16 AM
If Bitcoin is gold, and litecoin is silver, then what are all the other elements? What is bonding? What's water? There's a new alchemy forming here.

Which version of the client are you describing? I'm looking at 0.1.0 and things aren't lining up.

9  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I got SCAMMED by bitbox.mx!!! on: June 07, 2013, 02:44:11 PM
1) We found the transaction to be suspicious through our own internal due diligence
2) We reached out to you to give you a chance to verify your identity via email or talk to us on the phone
3) You refused to verify your identity or even talk to us on the phone about the situation
5) You subsequently vandalized our AngelList page.

You are fully capable of requesting that your bank reverse the ACH transaction(http://banking.about.com/od/howtobank/a/ach-payment-fixes.htm). We will not initiate a new transaction because that puts us, and thereby all of our users, at risk of being scammed.
To be specific if we initiate an ACH transfer to you to refund the money you deposited, you can subsequently reverse the transaction that you initiated.

I would like to see you get your money back. I would be more than happy to walk you through the ACH reversal process over the phone. You know how to reach us.

15  Bitcoin / Project Development / BitBox New Bitcoin Exchange on: May 03, 2013, 09:23:20 PM
Bitcoin emerged from necessity.

The 2008 financial crisis forced people to question and reevaluate their relationship with money and the cacophony of financial instruments built on top of it. What they found were systems that were opaque and anachronistic. The money we use today wasn’t made for the Internet.

Bitcoin is just one part of a wave of new technologies that’s changing all that. Rather than the technological extensions meant to preserve legacy technologies, Bitcoin represents a paradigm shift. The possibilities offered by these new technologies are replacing sluggish closed networks, cutting out middlemen, and empowering individuals.

BitBox is also emerging from necessity. Recent events have shown that the Bitcoin economy is simply too large for one exchange to handle, no matter how efficient and scalable its architecture may be. The existing options for exchange are woefully inadequate to handle the kind of load that will come with being a mainstream part of the global financial system. Many people simply do not have a viable option for exchange.

That’s why we’re launching a platform that empowers anyone to store, trade, and track bitcoin. We want to make bitcoin easy to get and easy to use for both merchants and consumers through seamless banking integration, secure storage, and a joyful user experience.

While we’re building a system that is secure first, our event-based asynchronous technology stack encourages scale and allows for creation of high-volume and live streaming data feeds.

We’re FinCEN compliant, based in the United States, and passionate about building architecture that facilitates and ensures the flow of value.

19  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Excel Miner Model on: December 18, 2012, 01:35:27 AM
The original was specifically developed for the ASIC transition, would you say that difficulty increasing by a factor of 10 over the year after the first ASICS come online is realistic?
It will probably be more than that. But it will also have a different shape than steady exponential growth.
The time period will probably be more or the growth factor of difficulty will probably be more? It will precede in waves with each new shipment of ASICS, but how can I model that?
The growth factor will be more. It will probably be rapid, fairly linear growth for a few months (up to x10 maybe?) and then for the rest of the year it will grow to about x20 of the original amount. This assumes constant rate, a changing rate will cause the difficulty to adjust proportionally with some delay.
So you expect linear growth where difficulty =10*oriniginal_difficulty for the first few months and then where difficulty=20*original_difficulty after that? That's fast.
I meant difficulty = 10xoriginal after a few months, and = 20xoriginal after a year.
This is all speculation, of course.
of course.
