1621  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel? on: September 14, 2018, 09:36:01 PM
Given the number of threads in Meta over the last few days/weeks/months complaining about the state of the forum, the ridiculous levels of bounty spam, asking for more mods and suggesting about 100 other ideas for improvement, would it not be wise to focus on the forum first before taking on a new project?

Maybe Theymos wants to keep the forum more libertarian and wild west anarchic than what a lot of people calling for, quite authoritarian action at times..

He just made a huge move with the merit system, which is done in quite a good distributed way in my opinion, and hasn't even taken full effect yet.
Maybe he doesn't want to hand people more ultimate authoritarian power over others, such as powerful mods to wield their banhammers at their discretion, like many are calling for..

Benjamin Franklin, "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Yeah I copy and pasted that don't ban me..

Yeah their is a subset of members that hang out around meta, most with the best of intentions.. They all have the merits and DT trust and mod power and all the goodies..
They are trying to do good but not everyone completely believes in the same principles that they do, the ways of going about things..

It is pretty obvious to me that Theymos is trying to give the power to the community in a distributed manner through the trust system and now merit system.. It might not be perfect but nothing is perfect..

Theymos, being an OG crypto cypherpunk kind of guy, it occurs to me that he likely has some different ideals than those trying to find solutions to the problems via power and control..
1622  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel? on: September 14, 2018, 08:46:34 PM
It won't,not until moderation becomes strict and tight. Spamming will only become more. There are downsides to his: More spamming, more work for mods, which would lead to more spending. You should focus more on the members who left this place(because they stasrted hating it). New members wouldn't get what bitcoin is for a while, and they would keep asking the same questions again and again.

Don't bother starting a youtube channel or anything would bring more population to bitcointalk,so long as things are bad here. If you start youtube, more things would become a "priority" then. First, try getting rid of current issues, this will only add up as a burden to you.

It works for 4chan and that places is a cesspool no better than bitcointalk..
Not an official channel that I know of but a lot of videos about what goes on there..

I think spammers come from people searching how to make money online..
People searching for bitcoin on youtube may not all be the type to spend countless hours spamming and chasing bounties for a few satoshis. They likely have lives, atleast somewhat, and would mostly reach English speakers..

I think it would be great along with a strong welcome message including a disclaimer of the pitfalls and perils real "interested in bitcoin" newbs could face here..

Answering questions about how to use bitcoin, how bitcoin works, how to follow your transactions in a block explorer, stuff like that, is a whole lot better than all the questions about how to get merit so they can make more money spamming, questions about bounties and "earning" etc..

how unfortunate
1624  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 14, 2018, 06:42:55 PM
This is what I'm seeing...

The highs have come down in a reverse parabolic manner, much like the way it went up but the other way around..
The lows seem to be bottoming in a more linear fashion, with a slight downtrend which I don't like to see too much but it is what it is..

No mater, the trading channel continues to narrow and that I do like to see.. The channel will keep getting narrower and narrower and eventually BTC is going to have to break out of this channel if it maintains any volatility at all, unless we expect BTC to completely stop swinging, which I don't..

I think it will remain in this channel for a while, with the swings getting smaller, tightening up, to stay in the channel, until it just cannot take it anymore and breaks out..

which way will it break? I think it will break UP out of the channel but could break down.. I will be watching for the price to break out of this pattern in either direction and then I will be confident that exciting things are about to happen, for dump or for glory, something is gonna happen..

I don't think it is going to happen soon.. It seems to be forming itself to the pattern quite nicely, tightening up its swings, and hasn't felt too claustrophobic yet..

Another thing it really looks like to me is how we would mark Instantaneous Shut In Pressure, ISIP, in the oilfield..

I had to draw one..

Pretty much when your pumping 10,000 psi on a well which has a natural surface pressure of about 3,000 psi or so, when you stop pressure pumping all of a sudden the pressure drops and then bounces like this when the pressure finds it equilibrium..
The bounce tapers out like that in a slight downtrend and eventually flattens out to a steady pressure once it settles..

So like BTC was getting pumped at 20k psi, pumps stopped, it charts a textbook ISIP trace and finds its equalibrium, which thankfully for us seems to be around 6k, as apposed to 1k or whatever it could have been..

I for one am not too sad to see BTC in the 6k area, lol.. Pretty nice, it could be much worse.. = their is a lot of natural pressure in the well of users considering it was only in the hundreds before the pumping started, the fracks must have worked exposing the well of BTC to much more natural pressure (people) than their was previously..

Fracking pretty much exposes the well to more surface area in the target formation, where their is pressure..
In this case the target formation is the eyes and wallets of the general public, so the big pump on BTC has broken it's awareness out to a bunch more surface area of the general public and investors, where their is buy pressure, and now that it is better exposed their is more natural pressure from the exposure, and we are having bottoms in the 5k-6k range rather than the 300-400 range we started at..

1625  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 14, 2018, 03:23:15 AM

That's quite a hit! Even with up to 100X leverage the guy must have lost atleast what, 50k BTC? Is that math right?

You guys sure we trust their reported volume? That's a rediculous lot and by the looks of that twitter page it happens often..

If you look at them all most of them are shorts getting squeezed lately, scrolling a little ways..

No the 5 million number is the amount of USD lost. So at 100x leverage the person lost over 50k worth, so about 8 BTC lost.

I know they are vol pumped with leverage but yeah that brings it back to reality..

The way they say it, sounds like # of coins @ price ..

Better insert quote tags so I don't get accused of something..

Do you think what he is trying to say is that the only way for ETH to quit dropping is for the government to take over?

Sounds like it and I completely disagree..

If that what's his trying to point out then I also disagree with him.

He has a point about the narratives driving the market, but regulation and valuation? would just be another part of the narrative..
Like wtf, Do they want the government to say "Ok, ETH is worth $500 today." ??

Well that might sound dandy to some but they are never going to say that it's worth $20k because they wouldn't let that happen..
Like some authority is going to tell us what ETH is and is not worth, lol..

Regulations is just one piece of the puzzle. Of course narratives will fuel the market, we have seen this in the past and its either work in favor or against us. ETH dramatic fall has something to do with ICO's dumping as fast as they are being born every minute. The closest thing we can see government entering the picture is regulations, but I doubt it can put a dent for the long run. For me, ETH still has the fundamentals with its Dapps, but I would say that ICO's and EOS attach are partly to blame for its massive declined this year.

Right, but if the ICOs are to blame for atleast part of the crash then they must also be to blame for atleast part of the pump correct?

So to me that means that ETH needed them to get that high in the first place..

1629  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: My experience day trading - no moon shots on: September 13, 2018, 02:24:47 AM
This is very similar to the way I trade..

I daytrade and rely almost completely off of the orderbooks. Longterm trends don't matter, just volume and volatility..

Just buy right infront of big walls and sell right infront of big walls..

If you buy right infront of a big wall, and they are tearing down that wall like you didn't expect, try to be one of the last guys to sell into it, taking a small loss but living to trade on..
Same with the sell side..

I figured out how to do this on darkcoin before its first ever pump..
1630  Other / Off-topic / Re: Yeah, smart move Facebook. . . . on: September 13, 2018, 02:14:21 AM
P.S. Sorry for dumb question. Anonymous is the same guy (or group of people) who are saying that 9/11 was inside job and spreading similar conspiracy theories?

All you have to do is say you are anonymous and post a video..
It's not like they are a solid group..

Facebook is cancer..
Their is massive internet censorship going on right now.. What they have done to Alex Jones, reddit just banned a ton of right leaning subs, google busted helping hillary..

It's a crazy shakedown out there..
1631  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who wins American Presidential Election 2020? on: September 13, 2018, 02:08:11 AM
The democrats have drifted so far left we can never afford to let them win again..

Trump is far from perfect but he has saved the future of the free world..

If hillary would have gotten those 2 scotus pics, so far, all hope would have been lost..
1632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO/bounty/airdrop scams and what should be done on: September 13, 2018, 12:14:30 AM
scams have almost taken over the once safe territory that we have here in the cryptocurrency industry

It used to be safe?
Maybe before the pizza transaction..

It's because their is so much dumb money..
As long as their is dumb money people will be taking it..

Leave the government out of it and accept personal responsibility for the decisions you make..
1633  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Difficulty factors added to bruteforcing multisig private keys on: September 12, 2018, 11:10:39 PM
but is it possible to have another single key to control the fund?

Maybe you could sign a TX from all 15 keys offline and then save that signed TX in an encrypted file?

To create a single key for yourself to use conveniently at a later time.. It would have to be a predetermined TX though, dump all BTC to XX address..

So the attackers would still have to bruteforce 15 BTC keys, or just the 1 encryption on your file if they get your file somehow..

Maybe you could sign and save a bunch of them going to different places so you could give yourself some choice where you want them sent..
Plan A-Z

A signed TX that hasn't been broadcast doesn't expire in time does it? As long as the inputs are still there it should still work in 10 years no?

It's a shill post..
Thoroughly vet it for scams before you use it..

Nice work OP..

You are Aviv Lichtigstein? You seem to be using his handle..

Can you tell me more about your involvment with 101blockchains.com?
How much of the work on the site is your work?

Is it all you from the creation of the site itself or do you have business partners in it?

I see that the articles on your site are of many authors..

In your OP you say that you created this infographic, but the article on your site displaying it is said to be authored by  HASIB ANWAR right?
So did you just use your pic for his article?

Tell me about your site, how it is put together and run, and what are your eventual plans for it?

I imagine you eventually plan to monetize it with ads once you have built it up to enough popularity/traffic?
1637  Other / Meta / Re: High ranks that don't use avatars on: September 12, 2018, 07:17:12 PM
I use my avatar to help me find my posts in threads..
If I'm running an avatar I like it to be a bold color or something that stands out while I am scrolling fast don a page so I can see it and stop easily..

It's much harder to fly through a thread looking for my last post, so I know where to start reading again, if I have a good avatar to watch for..

If I have to search multiple pages I break out the big gun - Ctrl+F my username, like the cryptsy scam thread I like to catch up on every once in a while.. Or Ctrl+F my last posts for "cryptsy"...

Other forums have nice features that somehow bump you right to the last post in a topic that you have read, like magic.. They also alert you of quotes and replies..

A bit off topic but that is what I think of when pondering the reasoning behind my avatar use..

I wouldn't say I have ever had a "recognizable as eddie13" avatar like Vod and Phineas Gage..
Probably should put some effort into one so I can be one of the cool kids but I may be lazy..

1638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IP Address and Posting conflicts on: September 11, 2018, 08:09:09 PM
I think your situation has to do with posting from a low ranked account, posting from a different account are you?
1639  Economy / Lending / Re: Long Term Offers on: September 11, 2018, 08:06:07 PM
I'm quite young, so I don't really have a credit score, and I never got a credit card. Had a couple family members max out credit cards, and promised myself to never get one. Sticking to my debit one, haha.

That's what I thought too until I tried putting money into real estate.. Since then I have read and worked hard on my credit and have just broke 700 for the first time recently..
It really sucks and the credit system is the opposite in many ways of the trust/reputation system on BTCT..

You will need credit if you ever want to buy a decent car on payments, buy a house, rent a house, get auto insurance, get a cell phone, tons of shit..

I hate the system too man but ya gotta play the game..
1640  Other / Meta / Re: i am not confident here and feel intimidated! on: September 11, 2018, 05:55:25 PM
You are going to be fine.. Post away..

I think most of the BCT members here are males and there are only few females here like me.

First you should understand the concept of their are no girls on the internet

Sure you are a girl whatever but that isn't going to afford you any advantages here and is somewhat perceived as a mark of a scammer to go around proclaiming that you are a girl, expecting anyone to treat you any different because you are a girl is not the direction you want to start your new crypto career off in.

I bet their are a lot more females on the forum than you notice because I think a lot of the more net-savvy females don't make it be known that they are girls..

No foul on your part but don't throw that around as a reason to be anything different than anyone else..

I am not confident enough to get a good post and at the same time my english is also not that good.

It's not that bad and many people will respect you a lot for practicing to improve your english..
Just do your best and try to get better as you post..

"My english isn't perfect but it is getting better" is awesome..

"English isn't my first language so I have an excuse to post like shit" is not awesome..

Again, your english is quite acceptable actually and if you portray effort in it you will be fine..

I worry with the current system that needs to get merit to rank up and probably i will be stuck on Jr. member rank. Well i guess do not have problem with that

Don't worry about it, by time you deserve a high rank people/sources will know it and help to get you there (I would like to think), or the merit system will have changed again.. Because if it doesn't work then it will change again..

but the only thing is that everytime i saw a legendary account i feel intimidated from my post in english since i know that those member are really doing well.

Legendary doesn't mean they are doing well..
Plenty of legendaries have been scammers and now are ruined..
Plenty more have lost all of their money in crypto NOT gotten rich or just barely did well in crypto..
Their are legendary sig spammers, gambling section poster legendaries, legendaries making all their posts in games and rounds/bounties..

They aren't all "doing well".. They have just been here a long time on that one account..

I am a Filipino native speaker specifically cebuana and i guess this is where my problem starts with low confidence. What do you think guys Am i will going to be alright here in the forum?

Practice perfecting your english in every post.. Put effort into it, and people will give you more respect for that than just being a native english speaker that makes crap posts..

You know if you are so worried about what people think about you here - you don't have to let people think anything about you here..
You can just make another account at any time, not tell anyone who you really are, and not give 2 shitcoins about what people think of you.. Just don't do bad, morally wrong, things or we will getcha..

Keep your moral high ground.. Behave in a respectable moral manner and you will always be on the right side and have nothing to fear..

Grow thick internet skin because people WILL mess with you, but if you have your moral high ground then you are good..
You are going to need your thick skin even more if you want to run around proclaiming your femininity all the time, for example.
