Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are USD Withdrawals From Mt Gox to Dwolla Still Taking Weeks?
|
on: June 27, 2012, 04:18:39 AM

MtGox might be intentionally holding your $$ so they can put the $$ into some kind of interest paying investment. I tried to withdraw $400, and it's been 3 days. Then I ask what happened, they said I need to have my account verified. Their own FAQ stated that WITHOUT verification, one can withdraw up to $1000 a day. So how is $400 > $1000? I smell some sort of scam. Guys... we already replied to this question again and again and again. Please make sure to read carefully what we post. We are still waiting for Dwolla to give us a "Green Light" and continue to work with them. Since we do not have any reply from them after sending them all the necessary documentation we want to play safe. They can at anytime close or account and freeze any funds on it. To avoid this problem we are carefully monitoring the account and asked for people to be verified. Update your FAQ?

Economy / Economics / Re: Why did bitcoin jump up in price so suddenly in the past 2 weeks?

My pure speculation theory, based in no market reality other than human nature: I suspect human beings like things in "nice packages" including valuations.
I feel that the hover at 5.xx was nothing more than wanting to value the BTC at a fair & solid constant. High stability around values divisible by 5 and 2. After a few more weeks of cycling, I suspect we'll sit at $8 for a while before hitting $10.
Now that I have predicted this, it will never happen.

Economy / Services / Re: SteamCoin - Buy Steam Games for Bitcoin

I'm tempted to try this out. But I have a question, how do you handle steam discounts and stuff? For example, for today only Magicka is 75% off, since I'm guessing that you do all this by hand I'd have to guess that you won't update discounted prices, right?
He might be using the steam API: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Steam_Web_API/Feedback#Provide_games_and_packages_informationProvide games and packages information There should be something like ISteamGame to retrieve information about every game available on Steam. One method to get all games and one for detailed information about one game, e.g. appid, name, release date, publisher, achievements, store link, price (depending on the country code) etc. and all subIDs (packages) they're included in.

Ya I've look at them a little closer, and pretty much I'd have to go with the USB-FPGA Module 1.15x or USB-FPGA Module 1.15y at my price per kWh if I want, with a payoff time of 2-5 years...so I'll have to continue the research and think hard on mining, if it had been earlier in the game I'd probably be all over one of those FPGA's.
Yeah that is how I feel. I actually heard about BitCoin back when CPU mining *was* completely reasonable, but then forgot about it for a year or two. #feelsbadman

Lawdy Lawdy! #longtimelurkerfirsttimeposter
I think bitcoin is great, I've been following it for a long time. The idea of a decentralized currency really excites me. I've also been lurking in the bitcoin chans on freenode and the bitcoin sub-reddit. I'm also registered w/ Gribble @ #bitcoin-otc (profile @ 'grepix').
I have some orders on the book, and I also run a distro/record label for small bands in my spare time. I just hope one day I can phase out paypal/google checkout completely in exchange for BTC only xfers. One day, right?!
