61  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5850 low MHash/s on: April 10, 2011, 02:48:48 PM
Hi,

Using poclbm and SDK 2.2, i'm getting 137 MHash/s, from the table above i should be getting 250 MHash/s +-.
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

What might i be doing wrong?

I had a 5830 and now a 5870 , BOTH ran the fastest using Catalyst 10.7 and Stream SKD 2.1.
The 5830 OC'ed gave me 275 mhash stable and the 5870 OCed gives me 385 mhash.

Lowering the memory speed on the 5830 to 300 gave me a small increase in speed and big drop in temps but with the 5870 it made me drop 50 mhash, so it's worth a try to lower the mem speed but it may not work.
62  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Lowering mem clock to idle speeds SPEEDS UP Mh/s on: April 10, 2011, 02:40:26 PM
This is not new information. I used it with 4850 , and 5830 and it worked, but with my 5870 I get a 50mhash drop.
63  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Profitability on: April 06, 2011, 02:45:34 PM
I was going to sell the 5830 , but now I think I may keep both.
I would advise to consider selling your 5830 and getting used 5850, 5850 should break 300M easily with OC

Already bought the 5870 , got a good price though.
64  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Profitability on: April 06, 2011, 02:09:03 PM
Man I just bought a 5870 Vapor X OC , I hope I can more than that out of it.
My 1st Gen 5830 with locked voltage gets 280 , I was going to sell the 5830 , but now I think I may keep both.
65  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: bitcoinpools.com.... updated 3/28/11 on: March 29, 2011, 02:25:18 AM
The unfortunate situation regarding pool statistics is that they are constantly changing, so without writing some app to grab the relevant info from each respective page, or tie into some json reporting from each page to get the required info, your page will almost always certainly have incorrect information.

Otherwise, here is the info for BitcoinPool.com

BitcoinPool: http://www.bitcoinpool.com/
Speed:~12ghash/s
Payout Model(Fee): Proportional (0%)
Number of Users: 392
Long Polling: Yes
Open date: 08/03/2011 (d/m/Y)

thanks , updating now

You are acting like we are haters and shit. you could have at least double checked for the 1 second to see if anything was wrong, I mean it was quite obvious. It's like you wanted to paint a nursery pink and you painted it with a color resembling blood and it is dripping everywhere by accident, but you never look at it from afar

lol i can't always sit at the computer for a long time, and if i have limited time i do the best i can get done it that time
67  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: bitcoinpools.com.... updated 3/28/11 on: March 28, 2011, 06:11:03 PM
I'm going to come out as an asshole for saying this.

Other places where you could've put the same information for free:
Bitcoin Wiki: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_Page
A thread in this forum.
Google spreadsheets. You can load json data there too, so the data is not static.
Google sites.
And the list goes on...

The site itself:
Too many fancy shit going on to simply show some data.
No static linking.
Created with those automated webpage creators.
Lacks a lot of information.

The creator also seems like one who wants to cash in on an early product. To me it's as if he is in this for his personal benefit instead of trying to help the community.
But I don't know you and this is merely my opinion, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Suggestions:
Don't use the godaddy wizard bullshit, use a real CMS or do your own if you know how.
Make the links static, if I click the news link I should be redirected to bitcoinpool.com/news. Seriously, people overuse AJAX where it is NOT needed.
More data. Total number of users, date when the pool started, average time to solve a block, etc.
Add reviews. People should be able to review a certain pool. If the site is aimed at people still deciding which pool to pick, then user reviews are the most valuable information to have.
Add general information. Explain what is mining, where to find miners, how to set the up mining in a pool , best/common practices of pool mining, how pools work, why use a pool instead of going solo.

I'm sorry, but I can only see this as an half-assed job. Splattering the donate address everywhere in the site doesn't help you either. You say you need help, but people can't do your job for you. Web hosting static data is practically free these days. I just wish that you could've given a little more effort before putting this out to the public.

This site is temporary.
lol notice the "beta" on the page? This page is 2 days old, this is not how the page will be in the future, your right I am going to benefit in this site, my goal is to learn how to develop a decent site on my own, while this temporary site is up I will working on developing the official site on my own with real development tools. What benefit other than learning am I getting from this? Sure I can put this on other pages but I wouldn't learn anything in the process, if you look through my posts 90% of them are questions about bitcoin,  mining, pools and such. Now that I feel I am geting a grasp on that I want to learn something else. I am a technician, i have low level graphic design skills, I am hoping that making this site will increase my overall skills. If you think I am making money from this your wrong, all I want to gain is knowledge.
All I can say is if you do not have anything positive to contribute here than get out of my thread.

Anyone else who can help me get the data together is more than welcome to help out.
If no one does I will continue on my own anyway at my own pace.

For now though this is what you get... go cry somewhere else.... hater.

Added fees and corrected speeds , someone check it out and let me know if everything is ok.
69  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: bitcoinpools.com.... a directory for pools and pool stats/info on: March 28, 2011, 02:06:34 PM
Likewise, bitcoinpool.com does not do pay-per-share.

...and all you're listing is speed and # of users, not anything relevant, like fees, payout methods, etc...

help a brother out...
70  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: bitcoinpools.com.... a directory for pools and pool stats/info on: March 28, 2011, 02:01:53 PM
THIS IS WHY I NEED HELP!

I am not in a basement, if I had the time to do the research I would , I am willing to pay to host the site but I need some help. I can make a new section and host all the files we use , I AM DOING THIS TO HELP THE COMMUNITY, if you guys want to make stupid remarks instead of actually helping me out fine. I'll leave up a bunch of wrong shit.

I just started a new job and don't have the time to research this stuff, if a bunch of people send me little bits of updated info I will make order of it.

STOP BEING DICKS AND FUCKING HELP ME

AND SEND ME SOME FUCKING BITCOINS , NOW HO!

Seriously tho, I have nothing to gain from this, I just want to make bitcoin more accessible... just like everything else in bitcoin this project relies on help from the community....

Edit: i know deepbit has more than 2 , i did it in a rush and was copy and pasting.... tell me what info i should add about each pool that would be more relelvant

So everything you guys posted I added, I removed # of miners, I am going to add fees , and such...
71  Bitcoin / Mining / OpenArgs.. just some software I want to share... on: March 28, 2011, 01:52:37 PM
http://www.legroom.net/software/openargs

"Open With Arguments is an extension for Windows that allows users to directly pass arguments to executable files.  Instead of opening a Command Prompt, changing to the appropriate directory, and typing in the filename and parameters, users can right-click on any executable file directly in Windows Explorer, select Open With Arguments, and then enter the parameters.

Open With Arguments can be used with both GUI and CLI applications.  When launching a CLI application (such as a batch file), the Command Prompt will remain open after execution to allow the user to view any output.  Open With Arguments can be configured to work with any executable file format recognized by the Windows shell; by default, it works with .exe, .bat, and .cmd files.

Note:  As of version 1.2, argument history is supported (see screenshots).

Open With Arguments was written and packaged with the free, powerful, and open source AutoIt scripting language and Inno Setup installer."

So I want to make this site a nice place for everyone to find all the links they need to pools and miners and such...

I am doing it on free time , haven't gotten much done, if you guys can help me gather some links and short descriptions  of pools and mining tools it would help me a lot.

It is pretty straight forward the site and I want to keep it that way, for pool descriptions im thinking like 40 characters or something

any help appreciated

thanks

77  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Offering my domain names for use... on: March 27, 2011, 04:48:01 PM
usebitcoins.com might make sense to forward to weusecoins.com - but obviously we won't promote a domain we have no control over, so it'd just be something you can do to park the domain while you're not using it.

Interested in purchasing the domain?

Or maybe some other type of deal?

Nice site BTW
78  Economy / Marketplace / Offering my domain names for use... on: March 27, 2011, 04:23:45 PM
I own the following domains...

bitcoinbuyer.com
thebitcoinbank.com
bitcoinminer.net
usebitcoins.com
investinbitcoins.com
bitcoinsnow.com

I am not using them for anything right now...

If anyone has a site they want me to forward to or wants to make a site and host it let me know...

I bought them just for fun, I am not a web developer....

I am open to any ideas...
79  Other / Off-topic / Re: Need help setting up a very simple webserver... on: March 27, 2011, 03:14:33 PM
Considering he only wants to host 1 page (and I'm assuming html in that case), it should be secure enough. Just once you've got the page setup disable the mysql and filezilla parts of xampp and you should be good.

Ok I made the page, put it in the right folder, when i go to 127.0.0.1 it comes up, but when i try to see it thru my ip it times out, are there certain ports i need to forward with my router?

Edit: what about my subnet ip?
80  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin related domain names... on: March 27, 2011, 03:13:03 PM
Quite a few Bitcoin related domains out there already Smiley

http://dnshistory.org/specials/bitcoins/ (the ones I've seen so far).

I own 6 of those... hope it is a good investment
