1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: So when are we going to look into really finding Pirate? on: September 11, 2012, 04:15:06 PM
We just need a few locals to exercise their right to free speech and picket his house, while also exercising their Texas right to open carry.
2  Other / Off-topic / What to do with the Pirate charity donation on: August 17, 2012, 09:57:56 PM
Assuming BTCST settles out successfully, which I believe to be quite likely, I'd like to nominate the following group for the charity to win the bet.

They share some of our values. Homebrew is about community, thumbing your nose at alcohol taxes, art, and self-reliance.

We're trying to move into a bigger brew house because our space is too small! We teach people in our community how to brew from scratch, give them a place to brew, and have social and educational events. A bigger space will touch thousands of lives a year between members, those that come to our events and classes, and those that get to have our members' beer.

If we get the donation, we are fully committed to writing an article about it, and sharing all aspects of the donation with the local press, emphasizing bitcoin. We've had some great press before, and we will likely have more.

5  Economy / Lending / Re: Starfish Personal Credit Ratings on: August 15, 2012, 02:27:46 AM
I think this is a great start. I think over time several of these will merge into a bitcoin Transunion type rating. This will become much more important as we see more BTC revolving accounts.
6  Economy / Lending / Re: Lending small amounts up to 25 BTC on: August 15, 2012, 02:10:02 AM
Please note, I turn down 10 loans to people in newbie jail for every one I make. This is not some rampant journey for me to keep as many loans out as possible.

I too have my proprietary scammer detection system. While I'm not going to disclose exactly what I look for, I haven't made a bad loan yet.

10  Economy / Lending / Re: Req. 5 months registered, 20 hrs. logged in, 60 posts, to post in this subforum. on: August 09, 2012, 05:09:18 PM
I think lenders do a good job of choosing for themselves who to lend to. Implement this and expect newbie loan requests to pop up elsewhere.....
11  Economy / Lending / Re: In need of 10btc loan on: August 08, 2012, 03:50:23 AM
I'm interested in this one...but what GPU is $1000. And what sort of hash rate will that give you?
12  Economy / Lending / Re: Help me buy a car, earn double it's value on: August 08, 2012, 03:07:15 AM
I believe people will want to pay me money when I'm a musician.
Not much money in being a musician any more. Even for the big names. You're better off selling drugs.

His forum name is dank - what is it you think he does? j/k
13  Economy / Lending / Re: [FOUND] Seeking Quick 4btc Loan on: August 08, 2012, 01:05:49 AM

15  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Withdrawl from Mt Gox into Dwolla Question on: August 07, 2012, 07:18:23 PM

16  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking For a Loan 25 Btc on: August 06, 2012, 03:59:50 AM
For a native English speaker, you sure do speak the Engrish. Denied.
17  Economy / Economics / Re: LIBOR scandal on: August 05, 2012, 03:04:22 PM
There is no market regulated by strictly market consumers (i.e. a free market) in traditional banking. Were there one, depositors would shop around and pay attention to the credibility of each bank which in turn would force them to compete with one another and not collude. And it's that simple to solve this problem: remove FDIC, remove all guarantees, remove lenders of last resort, remove regulations and BOOM all the crooks will go up in smoke and what will remain are the honest players.

Yep, but it might take a while. Might look like the current bitcoin economy for some time first.

Sure would be fun to watch.

19  Economy / Lending / Re: Request for 1.19 BTC on: August 04, 2012, 11:27:46 PM
If the money isn't that important to you and it's just a logistical problem you could try If the 1.19 is a small fraction of the total you'll likely win. If you lose you have to wait till you can get more, but you already have to wait.

He asks for a loan, you suggest gambling?

sc00bysnax, I'd be glad to loan if you're willing to provide additional information, e.g. what you intend to buy and some proof of identity.

I found the most concerning part the lack of a plan to pay it back.....
