1401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 0.9.0 FINAL is available [Changelog] [Download] on: March 21, 2014, 01:06:21 AM

That worked, thank you. Next stumbling block: It seems the data directories for the blocks and wallet have changed? The client starts with 270 weeks back. Where can I set the datadir?

I didn't have to set my directory but this may help as a terminal command option  -datadir=<dir>         Specify data directory

Edit: I don't know if this has anything to do with it but you may have to install Berkley DB 4.8 but others here will know better than me about that. Don't do it based on my advice. I did to avoid the error I was getting when compiling my own.

Code:
./bitcoin-qt -datadir=/home/xyz/.bitcoin &

Worked like a charm for me.

As an added bonus there are now several more bitcoins in my wallet. Not sure what happened there, but judging from the time it took to start bitcoin core it must have done a re-scan and found same additional tx. (?)
1402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 0.9.0 FINAL is available [Changelog] [Download] on: March 20, 2014, 05:50:41 PM
It explains it, but how do you execute it? Stumped.
Either from the command line, or launch it from an (executable) script.

Open a terminal cd into the directory that bitcoin-qt is in and type "./bitcoin-qt &" without the quotes the & is there to just free it up from the terminal you opened it up with so you can close it out of the way.

That worked, thank you. Next stumbling block: It seems the data directories for the blocks and wallet have changed? The client starts with 270 weeks back. Where can I set the datadir?

oh, you have to wait 30 day for the refund, right? ....

Possible. I guess it depends on whether you paid with fiat or BTC.
1404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 0.9.0 FINAL is available [Changelog] [Download] on: March 20, 2014, 05:02:39 PM
Uuhh yeah thanks... It's checked, but for some reason gedit is set as default application to open it with and if I remove it as default app Ubuntu doesn’t know what to do with it. It's no big deal I was just curious why Ubuntu isn't recognizing it as an executable. All of the binaries in the bin directory are doing this...
It's because we are compiling/linking with -pie. This adds address space randomization, which is a security/hardening feature that makes exploits more difficult. But it means that the executable is seen as a shared library by naive tools such as "file" and seemingly the Gnome file manager.

Yep that explains it perfectly. Thanks to all that responded and a Big Thanks to the devs.

Edit: And yes I am using the Gnome file manager.....

It explains it, but how do you execute it? Stumped.
1405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 0.9.0 FINAL is available [Changelog] [Download] on: March 20, 2014, 02:42:34 AM
Also, no joy in Lubuntu. It shows what should be executables as shared libraries and doesn't know what to do with them.

The PPA is at 0.8.6.
1406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 0.9.0 FINAL is available [Changelog] [Download] on: March 20, 2014, 01:38:17 AM
Does it run on *any* linux distro?

Ente

No joy on Fedora 20 here  Sad

lol that means sg will out for mining world?

SG is out of the mining race already - considering the electricity rates.
1408  Local / Other languages/locations / Re: Singapore on: March 19, 2014, 01:21:12 PM
that's correct and make sure you declare the item as computer parts to let it pass the customs.  The moment you put words like "cryptographic computer" and "bitcoin" then expect looong delay as they will refer to the items to another department for inspection.. eventually it may get marked as unapproved and you may not even get it...

is there any tax for import bitcoin miner/pc stuff to sg?

questions:
1) how much is the miner/combined hardware value?
2) consumer or commercial purposes?

essentially, they are hardwares. iirc, all goods valued above USD400 are taxable.

IIRC, cryptography goods are on the black list.

Has anybody else tried to login and see what happened? I want to understand if it is a hack or not. I am not knowledgeable to know if this is a hack or not.

It's possible to login in the Mt Gox website and check your balance.
Has anybody tried already? has the website been hacked?

I did.
It didn't accept a wrong password but it accepted the correct one.
The displayed balance was correct. (However, it was also correct in the leaked database.)
It showed BTC, EUR, USD balances (these are the only currencies I ever used, USD have been [and still is] zero days before the shutdown, EUR was 0.001, BTC was ~8) nothing else.

So, unless you are worried that their current database doesn't have correct records of you, you gain nothing by checking it.
My last trade (EUR->BTC) happened ~10 hours before the shutdown and it's still valid now.

Did it ask for your 2FA (if you had it enabled in the first place)?

Good stuff.

Is there a mobile app?  Or is there an API so I could integrate the data into a mobile app?

This is great!  But the map looks quite grainy on my screen.  Can you open-source it so we can fix it?  I know it uses Openstreetmaps but the tile rendering seems to be at the wrong DPI

Second option : Sell all the hardware while it worth something, share the profit and end this mining group that is not mining anyway.

+1

Enough of

[...] very little excuses [...] lack of attention and quick response [...] He should have been focused on both of these tasks [...] mistakes [...] Mismanagement

If you read this thread, you'll realise that those and other issues have come up time and time again. Hence, sell it all and be done with it. If you can't do something, it's better to admit to it and focus your energy and time on something more fruitful.

There's new document in mtgox-website. It's outlining current development from legal perspective on civil rehab process.
https://www.mtgox.com/img/pdf/20140314-announcement_chapter15.pdf
Quote
[translation]
Announcement regarding the applicability of US Bankruptcy Code Chapter 15
As already announced, MtGox Co., Ltd. filed an application for commencement of a civil
rehabilitation procedure at the Tokyo District Court on February 28, 2014 and this application is
now proceeding (the "Civil Rehabilitation").
On March 10, 2014 (US Standard Central Time), a petition was filed in the United States
Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division to have the Civil Rehabilitation accepted under Chapter 15 of title 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code. A
temporary relief order was issued on the same date. This preliminary relief order is scheduled
for confirmation on April 1, 2014.
This means that the effect of the Civil Rehabilitation applies now on a temporary basis to
assets located in the United States which will be preserved. Accordingly, the acceptance by the
US court of the Civil Rehabilitation means that any enforcement of a judgment against MtGox
Co., Ltd, any attachment of its assets, the creation of any lien against its assets or the disposition
of any assets located in the United States are temporarily no longer possible.
Under the Civil Rehabilitation, the Tokyo District Court issued an order prohibiting any
disposition of the assets of MtGox Co., Ltd. Since assets located in the United States will be
used to repay all creditors, their preservation was necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of
the Civil Rehabilitation. This is why the Chapter 15 petition was made.
Further, on March 11, 2014 (United States Standard Central Time), a petition was made to
stop the proceedings of a lawsuit taking place in the United States pursuant to Chapter 15 and
this petition was accepted.
Further announcements regarding the Civil Rehabilitation will be made on this website.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused to all creditors and ask for their understanding
and cooperation throughout this process.
1418  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Unofficial BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: March 14, 2014, 03:37:12 PM
Does anybody know if I can change the delivering adress?

I cant get ANY support on bitmine - allready send them two emails, and no response.

So I need to ask here.

It was mentioned in the official thread that it's not possible to change the address. Try calling though. I called today 10am Switzerland time and got straight through.

Lucky maybe.

1419  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] CoinMap - Map showing places where Bitcoin is accepted on: March 14, 2014, 07:37:13 AM
I would like to create a URL that will take someone directly to a specific location on Coinmap. For example, a customer could click a link on a website for a physical business and Coinmap would open with that specific location selected. I think I recall seeing this implemented on other business websites. Could someone please explain how to do it?

This is not possible at the moment, because of the bug where MarkerCluster plugin interferes with Permalink plugin.

It "sort of" works via the Search function on the map. I type in a business name and after a little while a list of entries that contain that name opens below the search box. Clicking one of those takes the map straight to the business address. Unfortunately those entries are not links, but in a script. Could this be changed so they appear as actual links?
1420  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitcoinAverage.com - independent bitcoin price on: March 13, 2014, 04:04:02 AM
Hi,

Terrific service, use it all the time. You guys definitely need a smartphone app. A 1x1 Widget on the home screen that displays the current mBTC rate is easy to develop and would be awesome.

I did not read the whole thread and I'm sure this has been requested before, so pls consider it as +1. Cheers.

Bitcoinium was mentioned in the thread and it works well for me. 1x2 though.
