Where are you located?

If in Europe look for SEPA in this list: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Buying_bitcoins . Keep possible fees of the exchanges in mind!

This. Or you can save the authentication code just below the QR code (I think). Or both. Anyway, the most important thing is that you encrypt it, and store it in multiple locations. Smiley
Indeed you can. You can actually verify that it works by making the link on your phone not by QR code, but by taking the manual process of typing the secret.

Is it possible to make that backup once you have the Authenticator already installed and running?

Wouldn't a back up via Titanium Backup on a rooted device backup the necessary data as well?
1991  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] ASIC.COOP ASIC MINERS COOPERATIVE 1BTC ~240MH/s 65 shares left on: July 12, 2012, 06:42:47 PM
17 left. Woot!
1992  Economy / Economics / Re: Why did bitcoin jump up in price so suddenly in the past 2 weeks? on: July 12, 2012, 09:41:21 AM
Just after the news that BFL ASIC is coming

ASIC miners will increase the whole network hashing power a lot (so does difficulty), this will dramatically reduce the availability for BTC for average person, so either they invest in ASIC miner or use those money to buy BTC now

Agreed. The ASIC miners will hoard bitcoins because less will be generated through mining as difficulty rises and block havling occurs.

How so? My understanding is that there is a block every ~ ten minutes which contains (currently) 50 BTC. Difficulty is the measure that this stays more or less the same.

I agree on the block halving possibly increasing the price.

Because I didn't know?

Seen it now - thanks.
1994  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Send to charity. on: July 12, 2012, 03:53:09 AM
No you dont have to buy shares in anything just use the transfer feature.

This is why I was asking for the BTC deposit address. The way it is now only issuers of shares can donate.
1995  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Send to charity. on: July 11, 2012, 04:45:34 PM
What is the BTC deposit address?
1996  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Websites to Earn Bitcoins II on: July 11, 2012, 10:41:43 AM
I think it might be worthwhile to mention in the OP, that the transaction fees will be quite high, if you're amassing your fortune through faucet sites. That's for the official client at least - others I don't know.

Just sayin'.
1997  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Correlation between Bitcoin transaction fees and Bitcoin market price. on: July 11, 2012, 10:25:21 AM
If understand this correctly... - no.
