Is there any way to generate plot files locally using an EC2 instance?
For example, I have a local 4TB storage but I want to plot in the cloud via streaming the files. Does something like this exist? I DON'T want to store the files in EBS since that will cost me a ton. Or is downloading from EBS and then wiping the only way? Does S3 charge for the whole month on the spot or is it hourly/daily/averaged?
You'd be charged for the bandwidth to transfer large amounts of data from your EC2 to a local drive.

Here is the new version. I reduced the amount of memory used from 40KB to about 1KB per unit. The only drawback is that it requires twice the global memory as before. I will search a mean to reduce this overhead later. In CPU mode, it all goes pretty well (when no graphic card is detected). The GPU mode is still kind of buggy on my graphic card (an old GeForce 9300M GS), don't know the exact reason yet. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I will try to fix this issue tomorrow. Here are the files : gpuPlotGenerator-src-1.1.0.7z : https://mega.co.nz/#!iYFWAL5B!BvtmRQ5qGq4gGwjDglFNtDtNIX4LDaUvATBtClBdTlQ gpuPlotGenerator-bin-win-x86-1.1.0.7z : https://mega.co.nz/#!aBVGBBQD!tBsRtb8VrHR12_anrFTrl41U0fPQu_OqFnxyi5nCyBY For the linux users, the Makefile has a new target named "dist" that builds and copy/paste all the necessary files to the "bin" directory. The executable usage is : ./gpuPlotGenerator <path> <address> <start nonce> <nonces> <stagger size> <threads> <path> : the path to the plots directory <threads> : number of parrallel threads for each work group I am giving it a try now!

So basically I can create a plot file... let's say -- 10G worth. I test, I am happy... and not I want to soak up another 90G.
I can just create a second plot file (no overlapping nonces) and as long as they are in the same folder, everything is good. I know under Linux I could symlink the plot files from other drives into the /plots folder -- as long at they are there, they will be used for mining.
Does that sound accurate? This may actually be answered by the previous post as well.

So just a q I have had trouble finding an answer to. Plot generation... got it. No overlapping nonces.
So let's say I have three HDDs and I am too lazy to make that one big disk. I could generate plots on each disk (keeping nonces unique).
Do I then solo mine three clients (one for each disk). So for example I have :
d:\pocminer_v1\plots e:\pocminer_v1\plots f:\pocminer_v1\plots
If I were to pool mine, would I also need to run three clients... one on each disk? Thank you!
You must run 3 instance.. 1 for each hdd Thank you Matt and Cobra for the responses!

Awesome! I have yet to experience my first bitcoin ATM. It's nice that this one did not make you privide Drivers License or scan fingerprints. It seems easy enough, although I see the 1 confirmation thing a pretty big turnoff for the mainstream. If people want their cash right away, they will not wait an average of 10 minutes.
The exchange rate seems reasonable enough. Was that 5% fee added on top of the displayed exchange rate?
The 5% was accounted for on the going rate... so when I typed in the amount I wanted I didn't get that amount -5% As for the 10 minute wait... this BTM was located inside a small restaurant. I could have started the transaction, ordered a quick bite to eat, and finished with collecting on my way out.

Nice!
So, KYC/AML is phone number + machine camera?
Ok, I could have used a pre-paid phone with no tracking. There is a camera on the machine. The nice part, I can buy and sell right there.. and there is a 5% fee to the bank operating the equipment. Overall, it was a pretty neat experience.

To be honest... I was very nervous not knowing what to expect. It was easy as could be.
When I walked up the machine I clicked start. You enter your mobile phone number and get an SMS code. Enter that code, and you continue.
You are asked if you want to buy or sell.... in my case, I tried a sales today to 1 BTC.
I click on 'Sell Bitcoin' Next it asked me to enter a dollar amount --- so I typed in $500.
Next I was presented with a QR code on the screen -- saying I have 5 minutes to send BTC to that address. I opened my mobile wallet, scanned the QR code and clicked send.
Within seconds the screen confirmed a transaction had been started.
I was told I need to wait for 1 confirm (up to 10 minutes) for the transaction. I would receive another SMS when the transaction was ready.
About 10 minutes later I was sent an SMS with a Redeem Code. I returned to the machine.
Same process.. enter phone number, then confirm the SMS code. Now I click on 'Redeem Code' and typed in my code.
After I typed it in...the machine proceeded to dispense $500 in cash! As easy as could be!!

Okay, I give up.... Can anybody help a lost, tired, little boy with solo mining?? I'm using the below .conf and .bat settings, but can't get it to work... nor any coin EVER .confrpcuser= wallet addressrpcpassword= passwordrpcallowip=127.0.0.1 rpcport=31115 port=31114 gen=0 server=1 .bat (bfgminer) bfgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://127.0.0.1:31115 -u walletaddress -p password --zeus-cc 128 --zeus-clk 328 -S zus:\\.\COM4 Also created a shortcut of the wallet on my desktop and added '-server' and have that fully synced and running before attempting too. I've followed so many different guides to the T but I always get 'bad URL' errors on bfgminer! Mining gods, please tell me what I'm doing wrong Please and thank you VERY much You cannot use the stratum protocol when solo mining. Try: bfgminer --scrypt -o 127.0.0.1:31115 -u ... and the rest Thats the basic rule... dont try to mine scrypt on sha asics... it will not work.
