I'm glad I sold and didn't buy back in. When dev silent usually means the project is dead
Your right, when a dev is acts cunty it's the best thing to do, I sold two thirds of my bag, gonna free ride the rest, just on the very slim chance that one day (maybe in a few years, not holding my breath) the dev will pull it off. I would advise anyone in this coin to consider looking at alternatives, as currently there is roughly 1000+ better projects to support than this one. #goSuckAdickDev Dev will release wallet very soon cool! How do you know? Through speculation...

So it looks like our best developer has joined Guldencoin. I urge everyone here to never invest in that coin and keep with Pandacoin, come on community do a take over and get new devs.
who? source on info? MaNI has joined the Guldencoin development team. Guldencoin acquired 2 new developers this last week. Official Statement. We now have 3 developers as part of the Guldencoin team. Our community has always been strong and now we have a dev team to match it. We have some very good news! As most of you know we’ve been searching for experienced c++ developers who can help us with the algo issues. Last week c_e_d joined us and he is currently working on the diff calc. for the interim solution. GJ is currently investigating the transfer of the addresses to the new Multi-algo codebase, which will be the longterm solution. And as of today we will be getting more help from a very experienced developer: Malcolm.
Just a bit of background, Malcolm is a experience c++ developer who had his first taste of crypto when he was hired as a 3rd party developer for Pandacoin. He has already raked in some notable achievements like first developer to increase blockchain sync by +- 5000% and developing the Pandabank hybrid wallet. Unfortunately for Pandacoin the leaders of the coin vanished and left the community high and dry, however there loss is our gain and we are blessed to have him join our team. Malcolm shares our vision and longterm outlook on virtual currencies.
Malcolm's main task will be looking into the Digibyte code base and multi-algo since this is our highest priority.
https://forum.guldencoin.com/index.php?topic=903.msg14817#msg14817 i wonder how they feel about having a cheater on their team Actually, he was pretty broken up about the whole situation and how a certain PND dev had cheated everyone of the Pandacoin followers. He spoke in great lengths about it and occasionally still does. You'd know this if you were hanging about on IRC Please don't try and discredit IMO one of, if not the best developers to have come to crypto since Satoshi Nakamoto. No need to be a spoilt sport about it. Be thankful for all the good things he brought to the coin because without him PandaBank wouldn't have become what it is today. I wish him good luck on any venture he decides to pursue.

Whilst PND will not die due to it's reasonable inflation and people staking the coin. The fact remains, that without a proper wallet dev to iron out bugs (which there are) and bring new features (as they were planned), there isn't really much left for the coin except wait for someone to pump it or w/e. PND brang about alot of innovation, some of which BTC has even started using, such as their increased sync capabilities in their latest release. You could spend some of the coin @ coinpayments such as one fellow did buying up 60m worth of stuff tho the owner of the store now finds himself in a pickle and unable to trade that coin for btc. The top address holds just over 2.3bn pnd, the top 5 collectively hold just under 20% and the top 100 hold roughly 63% of the total supply. +/- a few %. At the end of the day, you're free to do as you please but don't count on any of the original dev's/contributors to advance coin development any further as I doubt they want to now. amDOGE won't make any statements, at least that's the vibe on irc, so i wouldn't hold my breath for that. From what is understood she/he overseas the builds which were a chore to get him/her to do anyway come release time. Mani is/was the driving force behind code development for the wallet, everything you see from the time the wallet became Pandabank is pretty much Mani's doing... Source would be released for building which amDOGE was in charge of (win/linux/mac) and that would take quite a bit of nagging to get done from what i hear. amDOGE is the founder and that's pretty much it as far as development goes. Multiple attempts have been made for an 'official' statement but none have been produced so far and i doubt one will be... I'm pretty sure there will be no future developments unless someone wants to continue developing the coin and steps up to the plate, however you'd have to also get all the accounts associated with the coin such as social media and the like. For that, you'd have to directly ask amDOGE/pandacoin-official if you can catch him/her online It's sad when a good coin gets screwed like this especially when so much has gone into it but you win some and you lose some i guess... But all that aside, the coin was created to fight and kill wolong's scam coin and it did that relatively easily and effectively so i guess you could say, it's done it's purpose. Just my 2 PND (i actually have 2 pnd left cause of silly rounding bug in the wallet).

Did anyone succeed to compile PandaBank v3.0.2 for Linux? If "Yes", on what distro and which were the (bear)traps/steps? Also, is there anyone who can read the PandaBank code efficiently (a programmer, obviously) and maybe find a workaround this issue?
As for the FUD... it's always here, in crypto-land. We just have to get on the constructive side of things one way or another.
I just compiled it on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with no dramas. Steps I took. 1) Open terminal 2) cd ~/ && git clone https://github.com/pandacoin-official/pandacoin.git3) sudo apt-get install qt5-default qt5-qmake qtbase5-dev-tools qttools5-dev-tools build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev libssl-dev libdb++-dev (wait for dependencies to finish building). 4) cd ~/pandacoin && qmake && make (wait for client to build). 5) Run ./pandacoin-qt in the pandacoin folder and it should load the GUI client. 6) Profit Thank you So, I will get off my ass and update my antiquated OS (XUbuntu 12.10) It was about time, anyway. L.E.: I'm such a lazy ass, but importing my junk from my profile is always a chore I hate... Haha yeah I'm like that aswell. I just happened to have a VM with 14.04 installed already so was able to test against that. Theoretically you could also install the latest client on 12.10 tho you'd have to either find updated packages from the repo to satisfy the use of the newer boost and I'm sure other dependencies, or build entirely from source, which can be a lengthy PITA. Starting fresh would probably be the better option if you didn't want to muck around too much with versioning and lengthy build times.

Side note: So it's clear that everyone on this forum used to get the shit kicked out of them growing up. I didn't even know people really waste this much time on message boards... I have the awkward feeling you get when your watching someone, they are royally screwing up and you feel embarrassed for them (is that called empathy?). At any rate, I'm here for one reason...you morons still think that this character Mike Johnson is a real person? I'm crying right now... Two types of people in this world, people that get shit done and lexicographers (people who just use big words). Keep posting fellas, while your doing that your making room for someone out here actually doing something... like this fruitloop you are carrying on about that created a business in cryptocurrency. Shaking my head...

Fact is, the dev's activity has been regular as his profile shows, tho his communication has not. I believe that's what the community is after... regular communication. I know how hard RL can be, heck i have a wife and 2 kids to feed/raise and a labouring job that takes 12hrs out of my day 6 days a week. Add to that i host a couple of sites for friends as a hobby and provide a couple services for another coin at the same time which requires some maint on my behalf tho i still manage to take a few minutes out of my busy day to say "hi" to the community and my friends online.
Proactivity is healthy, silence is a killer.

I actually loaded a VM with OS X on it to try the beta wallet.. it's as the screenshots describe but nothing that excites me. The twitter feed sorta bores me as i don't really pay much attention to twitter anyway and the inbuilt trading isn't bad but could do with other exchanges included tho since C-Cex is delisting this coin, i don't think it would matter much now anyway. Sad that a windows wallet wasn't built aswell... The things added to the client to me doesn't represent what the coin was marketed as in the beginning so i'm not very wow'd by the 'developments' or lack thereof :\
Just my 2 vtr.

1. don't panic 2. take a deep breath 3. do what jommy said:
Remember to backup the (corrupted) wallet just in case. Then place one of your backups in said directory and rename it wallet.dat
backups will take some 100 transactions before going out of sync, so you're probably good with your latest backup.
Anyway don't panic, if you have your backups, you're 99% fine.
Thank YOU jommy and mtrycz. It might be working. It appears to be automatically syncing in classic mode. Thank YOU more than mere words can express. No problem, man The moment you said you had backups I knew you were golden. It's not like you had an ssd failure or something xD I do not know exactly how to put this, and I hope it doesn't confuse anyone, but I had a helluva time winning this battle. But, with your help, somehow I prevailed. I got everything where it belonged in the folder yet it was still all chingered up. I even downloaded the 3.0.2.0 again. Nothing. I did indeed have everything right in the %appdata% folder, but I had renamed my backup data "wallet.dat" ~ I remember noticing that when I downloaded the new 3.0.2 it only had "wallet" listed. I took off the .dat from my backup and it just all popped into place. I do not exactly get it. I don't have to. I got my wallet back. It's a true testimonial to THIS GREAT COMMUNITY and how necessary it is to backup, backup, backup. And I also learned, when or if you ever change your encrypted password, that all the backups with the old password will be rendered useless. You may know all of this, I realize. But, if a rookie like me can do this, ANYONE can do it. OMG and a half. I just HAS to be a sign of good things to come, damnit! Happy to hear you are back in business with your Pandacoin Bank and Balances! I am guessing your file explorer view settings are the windows default and don't show file extensions for known file types (I forget about this since I change it right away so I always see my file type extensions like .dat .txt etc). Your wallet.dat was most likely wallet.dat without the .dat showing then you renamed it wallet.dat.dat which looked to you as wallet.dat, I don't know why they default to hiding such a key bit of information. If you were not able to get that to work there is also the final option to run your Pandacoin Bank / Wallet with a command line parameter -salvagewallet to extract your Private key from a problem wallet.dat Because MS can be gay like that... They like assuming that everyone is an idiot and don't know what file extensions are. I too turn mine back on and anyone else that i install their windows OS for them.

And here's a summary screencap because Google archives don't stay up forever. Next time someone finds something juicy on hashtalk or anywhere else, please add it to the internet Archive Wayback Machine. Things saved to the archive don't auto-delete or get replaced over time. It was more i couldn't find it archived in the way back machine so quickly checked google's cache as a last ditch attempt to save it before it went *poof* I did however take the chance to screen cap it before i made the post so when the cache did eventually expire the evidence would still be available at a later date if need be. Cheers for posting up the screenie
