1041  Other / Meta / Re: Moved Thread Redirection Topics. on: August 28, 2012, 01:58:43 AM
I only leave redirects when I feel that the thread might be of interest to the people who follow that board. Otherwise, almost everyone just clicks Show new replies to your posts anyway, so I'm not worried about them wondering where it went.

Totally agreed, theymos, but they do make a good starting point.
1043  Economy / Gambling / Re: I'm offering 100% ROI to anyone who thinks I don't have 10,000BTC to pay out. on: August 25, 2012, 06:21:49 AM
That said, though, will this bet end only upon the collection of 1000BTC of bets, or is there some cutoff time when it will be terminated?  I don't claim that MNW doesn't have the money, but it would be reassuring to know that he does.
Clearly, this bet as well as every bet down the meta-bet chain will terminate upon completion of a higher-level bet. In this case, that would be the 10k BTC Pirate bet.
1044  Other / Meta / Re: gambling sub forum query on: August 25, 2012, 05:25:09 AM
Could one of you guys update my sticky there with this information, then? It currently mentions that scam reports of gambling sites are acceptable threads for that section.

1046  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer - trake on: August 25, 2012, 04:10:38 AM
Great! That seems like some good evidence there. However, that could be anyone. Could you post proof that these transactions are linked to the user in question?

Also, does this user have a Bitcointalk account? Were any of the transactions made over Bitcointalk? If not, do you have evidence that the two accounts (assuming he has a Bitcointalk account) are the same person?

How were the escrow funds sent to you?
1047  Other / Meta / Re: "Important announcements" section doesn't contain important announcements on: August 24, 2012, 12:10:06 AM
You will also notice that I didn't copy in that announcement about Rebate, Zip.A, Alberto & BDT from JRO. That's because I really didn't see how that would be a large enough impact to the community, despite the fact that the thread was specifically reported to the moderation team. As you can see, we have pretty high standards about what should go there.
1048  Other / Meta / Re: "Important announcements" section doesn't contain important announcements on: August 23, 2012, 03:22:15 AM
Maged,

I was happy to see this section because we really need somewhere more visible and separated to do things like announce new versions of the core software, and other things of interest to the entire community.

Instead this section appears to only contain information about various scams and schemes that by no means all Bitcoin users are involved in or care about.

For instance, I really don't care at all about pirateat40 and what he's doing so quite why giant running commentaries should end up in a section called "important announcements" is beyond me. It's not important at all. For people who care about the BS&T scheme they can read about it in the threads devoted to that topic.

Could those threads please be moved out of the important announcements section
I disagree that they aren't important, and a 50% drop in the value of Bitcoin confirms that thought. When I decide what to post there, I go by two main metrics: impact to the community and impact to the press. In general, I'd say that anything that effects over 30% of the community should be posted there. As for press impact, if anything is likely to get major press attention, and it's not speculation about something that isn't yet released, it should also be posted there. I agree with many of Meni's points.

My goal is for there to be, on average, about 1 thread per week in that forum. As someone who has been around for more than a year, I feel qualified to determine that. The other mods seem to be able to figure that out as well and I trust their judgement on these matters.

and threads related to test/full software releases on various platforms be moved in?
Absolutely. There's no point to copy in the old posts, but it makes sense to do this going forward. New versions of Bitcoin, of course, effect a majority of the users here.

Services like the BitInstant card (when actually launched) might also qualify as it'd be something of general interest to any Bitcoin user.
Again, I agree. The Important Announcements board is not just for emergencies, but should only be facts about the present reality. No speculation. As another example, the September announcement might be worth putting in there (if it lives up to its hype and is not just another pre-announcement itself, but a release), but the announcement about it coming up shouldn't.

1051  Bitcoin / Important Announcements / Re: Bitcoin Savings and Trust is closing on: August 22, 2012, 06:13:16 AM
Well, it looks like I can no longer simply sit here and do nothing. Pirate seems to think he is above the law.

Well, you've had enough time to respond, so I will begin laying things out.

Since you have officially STOLEN my Bitcoin Savings & Trust Account as well as balance by closing it, being 4 days ago now, I think it's high time to get this party started.

Tomorrow, I will have the opportunity the meet with a Notary to have an affidavit signed.

McKinney Police Department require this done, as I am out of country and presented to them on behalf of myself, by my own local Police Department before anything can proceed.

As I see that you could care less to communicate in regards to this further, would it be fair to say that I instead make **** the primary contact on the paperwork ?

As I have said previously, you COULD HAVE AVOIDED THIS.
You are the man, you have the power...right ?

I look forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience, as to how I should proceed.
Allan

Ready when you are tough guy.

Make sure you know what you're doing.

Enjoy,

-pirate

Is this the reply you want to see in public ? or would you perhaps like to add anything else ?

I couldn't care less what you waste your time on.

Post away.

-pirate

Well, you obviously care, otherwise you wouldn't have thrown a hissy fit, closed down my account and stole my balance in the process ?

DID I SCREW YOU OVER ? or does it seem that you are just not a man of your word ?

Come to think of it (since you probably won't reply to this anyways) why are you being such a coward and taking cheep shots at me, like YOU ARE THE MAN WITH ALL THE

POWER on IRC ? ....... yet you don't seem to be capable of saying SHIT, even if your mouth was full of it, when you come onto the forum.

How about you justify why you are a compulsive liar, from what I can tell...... ?

Am I really causing you THAT much external pressure for you ?

Pay me what is owed and this all goes away, just like it would have IF YOU KEPT YOUR WORD IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Dead Man's Switch ? PM BOTS/Not really me online ? You will get it Monday ? Trendon Shavers is a DBA ?

How much more crap do you honestly expect me to listen to ?

You might want to go ahead and inform me if this is going to actually get taken care of or not.
At this point, you have nothing left to lose, right ?
Allan

I made it very clear in my post on the closing as to why you didn't get paid on Monday. You somehow think you're special just like the many other times you threw your fits that got you banned in the past.

It takes a lot to piss me off and your reckless comments and threats just put me over the limit. So not only did "You" cause this yourself, you'll end up paying for it

in the end.

First off, let's be clear, in case your memory is a bit FUZZY...as mine is not.

1) YOU banned me from GPUMAX for a week for telling gigavps that his nose was too far up your ass. I told you I wanted to mine, you said not to start shit, I agreed. I still don't like him.

2) YOU wrote a PM to me telling me WHEN I WOULD BE PAID BEFORE YOU CLOSED UP YOUR ENTIRE OPERATION. You have also denied me access to the site. 4 days past and this is nothing more than THEFT.

3) I am not threatening you. I am simply stating what I must do to protect my interests. If seeing you charged in a Criminal Offense happens, by all means - I DID NOT STEAL FROM YOU.

4) I repeatedly asked you NOT to bring it to this, but for some reason, your 29 year old testosterone told you otherwise.

I expect 100% including INTEREST OF THE BITCOINS you are holding hostage of mine, for simply speaking THE TRUTH.

If I am not satisfied, I will see you prosecuted to the FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW for more offences than you don't even realize you are committing.

SEND MY FUCKING BITCOINS.

Like I told you when you first threatened to "go after me".

Make my day. Good Luck and enjoy the ride.

I'v talked to Cosmos, and we have decided to postpone the transaction. I just killed my 6870, and am too broke to replace my GPU and buy the cards.

I apologized through Pm, and apologize formally here. Thanks for understanding Cosmos, I look forward to doing business with you, as from our chats, I would deem you to be an honest person with the best of intentions as a buyer/seller.
Transaction agreed to be postponed.  No problem Salty, horrible luck and I hope you can get replacement cards soon!  Will hang on to them for a while if you're still interested.
Witnessed.

if you are SELLING an account, send a small amount (eg. 0.01022) from your current withdrawal address, to the buyer's withdrawal address, then PM me with this info.
This is what the sign message feature is for...

running 0.4.6 here at the moment... does QT enable you to easily verify a message?
No, you have to use the command line for that. However, you can now also just use Blockchain.info:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=40264.msg1104041#msg1104041

great, in that case, they can sign a message with their current withdrawal address that says "please update address to: [buyer's address]".

They should be specific about it being for BitcoinMax, otherwise if the address is also used for something else, the buyer of the account might try getting other services to update the address in this manner.

1056  Economy / Goods / Re: Public contract between myself and SaltySpitoon on: August 22, 2012, 04:13:44 AM

I, Cosmos, have made a contract with SaltySpitoon for the sale of one binder of Pokemon cards including 28 Foil cards for 14 BTC.  I will ship first with tracking info to Salty and agree to have BTC paid upon arrival.

Seems he got outed as one of our old scammers. Need theymos to confirm on this, though.
I can confirm this.
1060  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: August 21, 2012, 11:20:03 PM
Well, since you're just giving out bitcoins, essentially, I request that my bet be raised from 20 BTC to 30 BTC.

If that's the case Maged, then use the 250btc limit.  Its free money, right, so why not?
I only bet what I don't mind losing, even when the odds of me losing are less than 1%. Three hundred dollars is quite a bit of money for a single bet. If I could make this same bet on a hundred other suspected ponzis that are in this situation, I would absolutely bet the maximum.
