HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! This is AWESOME! Huge props to Hazard, he really delivered here. I actually gained some respect for the guy. Good job!

Man, I need to read these threads more often. I didn't realize how much fun I was missing out on!

I'll quote myself on this one:
I would say that any altcoin without a major network design overhaul that sets the target block time to less than two minutes is doomed to failure.

423  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Custom Built Mining Rig 2x7950 on: June 05, 2013, 02:29:43 PM
2x7950 PCI-E, 8GB ram, quod core phantom processor, 650 Watt Antec power supply, 1TB SATA drive.

Asking 5BTC shipped.

It already has LTC mining software installed and running. It's ready to go.

Payment sent txid: 586df7c442438d91c7dbae73ad0d68393388ce5c6c8a8fb55250d06e40c12c88

I am purchasing the machine as described by joesmoe2012 (except with a dual-core instead of quad) for 5btc. I have provided my shipping address to Joe via. PM.

Please confirm Joe.

Thanks!

maged, thanks for doing escrow.

I have two of the same machine, one is going to eroxors the other is going to someone else, just so someone doesn't think i'm selling the same computer twice.

But yes, I confirm that I am selling one machine as described to eroxors (except it may be dual core instead of quod core, i'm not sure). I will be paying the shipping cost as well for basic ground shipping.

Thanks for the verification. Escrow will be released to joesmoe2012 upon successful receipt of the mentioned equipment by eroxors. In the case of a dispute, release of escrow will be based on my sole discretion based on the evidence provided by both parties. A dispute is anything that is not releasing the escrow as agreed.

429  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Open letter to Theymos regarding Butterfly Labs (BFL) on: June 05, 2013, 12:44:12 PM
No, they will not receive a scammer tag over the matter of their ASICs being late until several months go by with no progress. Stop asking.

How about for failing to pay up on bets posted on this forum?
Theymos is looking (has looked?) at that. I'm not sure where that is at. Personally, I don't want to have to look at it, since anything BFL-related is extremely time-consuming.

EDIT: It looks like this is resolved, at least for BFL:

Does selling raw chips and offering people to "upgrade" their fully functional miner orders to useless chips count as progress ?
Yes, absolutely. It means they have at least the chips.

Verified. Thanks!

Did you check that E6fwC7ztpW5VusXJg3mXfwF8oixqMqtM2G didn't actually receive anything?
Yeah, but I will admit that I am trusting the block explorer that I found.
431  Other / Off-topic / Re: Account Hacked - Clarification on: June 05, 2013, 12:26:57 PM
 1. I had a conversation with the hacker and he claims he social engineered his way into my account. Im not sure how much I believe him but I have gone through all my machines with a fine tooth comb and so far they come up clean so that let's me think that perhaps he is telling the truth. EIther way I'm wiping everything and reinstalling my operating systems from scratch.
You should lie in your security questions for the email attached to your Bitcointalk account.

Delete this please.

fible1's account has been hacked.

Also, this info is from the MtGox hack back when that happened.

Get Google authenticator for your phone or buy the Yubikey. Clearly, your security practices aren't as good as you think they are, so do what you can to stop the inevitable theft NOW.
436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Following the Devs on: June 04, 2013, 08:29:11 PM
As I made clear in my thread that you linked, it is my opinion that the devs have little to nothing to do with marketing their altcoin, and that good marketing is merely a side-effect of a good altcoin. To understand who is a good dev, you need to understand why Bitcoin does things the way it does. With that knowledge, you can see whether the altcoin devs have that knowledge based on the changes they made in their altcoin.

Fortunately, not everybody needs this knowledge. Basically, look for people who have knowledge of Bitcoin and see what they say about the changes that were made. For example, I would say that any altcoin without a major network design overhaul that sets the target block time to less than two minutes is doomed to failure.

not that i really care but one guy as a joke listed me as a scammer 3 times. what will this do to my rating? 3x as bad or just normal?
Theymos silently changed it to only count once late last week, I believe. That being said, the rating is untrusted off of the default trust graph, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Just curious - what qualifies as 'several months' and when do you start that clock running (from)?
I've got no skin in this game, but it looks like they already qualify from reading  your terse response.
The clock starts from the last sign of forward progress from them.
