841  Economy / Lending / Re: [Need] 100 BTC loan, I defaulted with others - Will pay 10.5 btc monthly minimum on: December 05, 2012, 05:58:14 AM
Ask Maged if you can pay him 10BTC a month and if he will distribute it amongst your creditors.
Absolutely, but I would first have to find out who these other creditors are...
842  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduction from BitConcierge on: December 04, 2012, 03:02:44 AM
I still don't know what are your services...
They are a concierge service. If you have the money, all you have to do is ask for something and they'll make it happen.
843  Economy / Lending / Re: [Need] 100 BTC loan, I defaulted with others - Will pay 10.5 btc monthly minimum on: December 03, 2012, 09:41:07 PM
Wait, where did 100 BTC come from? I'm showing that you've repaid 32.5 BTC out of 60 BTC from the debt you had back in January...

Please let me out, I have a project at that's still in development, yet I'd like to start a thread in the gambling sub-forum.

Yup, we just sometimes get a little behind.
Too damn seldom in my case. Need any help?  Wink

If you enable notification of new replies, it may contain the reply in the email notification.
That's another idea. Be sure to enable the preference to include the reply in the notification, since that isn't enabled by default.

I too would like to be white listed. I've lurked here for almost a year, I spend a couple hours here reading almost every day, whether I sign in or not. I have been a bitcoin exchanger since June. Pypal locked my account because of it (still locked, they say a disputed charge from a cc company has it still locked, even though the transaction in question was canceled by me (I can smell a scammer a mile away!) the same day the order was placed. I have 3 japalinos on order and may upgrade to the "SE"

why have I not made quota?? I only post if I have something pertenant to add. fluffing a "newbie" thread to gain access to the rest isn't my style.....until today!  Grin
If you have something that you'd like to add to a thread in the main forum, post what you want to post here and we'll consider it in the request.

Requesting permission for whitelist in order to service the community through ZIGGAP (still in-development)

ZIGGAP information here:

Need to also post threads for bounties for video production and blogging.

Still wanting to be whitelisted.
This is too risky of a business to whitelist for someone that nobody here already knows.

*facepalm* NOW I read that I could request to have my topic moved to another board if it doesn't get answered sufficiently. But I already locked it in the Newbie section. Damn.
Moved and unlocked.
Is this thread being watched?  :-)  Or am I forced with trolling this forum for another 1 hr and 45 minutes?  :-)  I would really like to get involved in some other threads.
Yup, we just sometimes get a little behind.
847  Other / Meta / Re: Forum-Based Games: How can I see if someone edited his Post? on: November 29, 2012, 09:23:24 PM
On the default theme, if they edit their post after a few minutes have passed since it was posted, a dotted line will appear under the time of their post that can be hovered over for more information. I'll edit this post in a few minutes to show you.

Edit: Now edited.
848  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just have to be able to PM... on: November 29, 2012, 08:32:10 PM
Also, it can sometimes take up to 10 minutes after you've met the Brand New -> Newbie requirements (1 post) or the Newbie -> Jr Member requirements (5 posts and 4 hours actively logged in) for the board to automatically upgrade your status.
849  Other / Off-topic / Re: Should BFL get a scammer tag? on: November 29, 2012, 05:23:45 AM
Anyone who has been waiting more than 30 days after they sent their payment is entitled to a refund under US law. So, they sure as hell better be honoring refund requests.

I cleaned up and warned people over a bunch of off-topic posts in the various ASIC threads awhile back.

Hello, I'm having problems and I want to post in the Mining support section. I have enough posts, but I'm not sure if I will be able to spend 4 hours on the forum anytime soon.

I'm mining in Slush's pool with my laptop right now, but I can't seem to get the graphics card on my desktop to work. My laptop is getting around 70 Mhash/s and it heats up pretty fast. I'd rather use my desktop, which doesn't want to work with me right now. I've installed the most recent version of Catalyst for my desktop's graphics card and the AMD APP SDK with OpenCL support, but none of the programs related to OpenCL are working, such as GPU Caps Viewer and GUIMiner and all the other gpu miners I've tried.

Did you miss my request or is that just not a valid reason? I guess I'll try asking it in this newbie section.
Yeah, if the reason you want to get whitelisted is because of a support issue, we'd prefer if you made a thread here first. If nobody helps you after a day or so, let us know and we'll move it to the proper board (you'll still be able to respond even if you aren't whitelisted). However, there are generally some pretty knowledgeable people who watch this board, so give them a chance.
853  Other / Meta / Re: Why does not the New OP title propagate through on all posts in my threads on: November 17, 2012, 12:58:13 AM
It's also an option when you move a thread.
854  Other / Meta / Re: The problem with reporting off topic replies is on: November 16, 2012, 04:50:19 AM
The problem with communicating with people who put in reports is not so much because of policy, but because there's no easy way for a moderator to know if someone else has already handled a report. Keep in mind that reports go to 6 people (2 admins and 4 global mods) + any local moderators for the board. So, it wouldn't be uncommon for people to get 6+ responses to their report as various times (possibly with conflicting information) if we actually started to respond.
855  Other / Meta / Re: Do not post off-topic replies on: November 15, 2012, 01:49:52 AM
It's not that much of a problem any more, I guess.
Not in the main forum, but if you checked out the mining forum before I cleaned it up you would have seen that it was a disaster.
856  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let's nominate Chairman Byron Micon for BTC Peace Prize on: November 14, 2012, 02:44:39 AM
Those of us who had information that proved how much Pirate was responsible for and how no business model that could have existed in Bitcoin at the time to make that kind of money was even possible were easily dismissed as Micon-style trolls. Sure, Pirate's supported saw our reasoning, but because of their preconceptions of us, they fought us tooth and nail.
They would have found a reason to dismiss or ignore your arguments no matter what happened. Those who put money into these schemes do it because they believe what they want to believe. The only argument that is needed for people who think rationally about it is "If it's too good to be true...", and if they already at the point where they ignore that they will ignore every other argument as well.

Right, Maged is assuming that the type of people who invested with pirate can be persuaded by rational arguments. This is incorrect. If they could think rationally, then they wouldn't have ever considered a pirate investment. One can however exert influence on these types using derision and ridicule. Trolling is the proper approach because it is the only effective approach.
You're also right, doing that might influence the people that can't be influenced rationally. However, in doing so, you discredit yourself and everyone else on your side (or at least make it hard to find any rational information) to the people who are at least semi-rational. Call me an optimist, but I believe that there are more semi-rational people in this world than there are totally irrational people. Or at the very least, semi-rational people are more likely to actually have money, and money is all that matters when it comes to running a ponzi.

Chances are that rational argument won't persuade anyone who has already invested, but unless ridicule can convince enough of them to pull out at the same time, and stay out (good luck with that), that won't stop the ponzi. So, the only reasonable way to stop it is to reduce the inflow of new investors, and the ones with money will most likely be semi-rational. Trolling might temporarily increase outflow, but it will greatly increase inflow.
857  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stop gambling your coins unless you're playing for entertainment! on: November 13, 2012, 03:37:47 AM

Should I stop drinking coca-cola unless I am drinking for entertainment? After all, I can drink water for much less, if not free.
Are you saying that you don't drink Coca-Cola for entertainment? I would argue that the only reason you drink it over something cheaper is because you like the taste, which is a form of entertainment.

One step further: What if I am gambling for a coke? Plug for my site: With that, you pay 60% of a coke's price for a 60% chance at a coke. Am I still gambling?
Of course you are. You just have really high odds and there isn't a negative expected value to this gambling. But it's still gambling.

One more step: Do you buy insurance on your house in case it burns down? Aren't you hoping to put down a little bit of money up front, and if the odds go your way, you get a new house? Surely we can all agree that home insurance is a losing bet for individuals (gamblers) and a winning bet for the casino (insurance company)?
Yes, it is.
Would you advocate people "Stop buying insurance for your house!"
If they have the money to self-insure, of course. However, most people just don't have the money to do that, let alone even pay for a house up front. Thus, insurance is one of the few good types of gambling because it is used to offset a huge potential loss.
858  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL and public relations on: November 13, 2012, 02:25:39 AM

Having had to deal with Atlas over here, I totally understand your pain with trolls constantly making new accounts.
859  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: November 13, 2012, 02:14:27 AM
I have promoted the Bitcoin movement on other forums where I am most active. For example:
Screenshot in case of blocked access:
Proof that I own the account who posted that thread can be provided upon request.

Recently I have acquired a new interest in moving all my online commercial activity to Bitcoins.
After experiencing many disappointments in other communities where Bitcoins are not yet well known, I've decided to finally move to this forum.
I would like to be whitelisted in order to be able to post in the market place section as soon as possible.
Oh wow, posts like that are extremely dangerous to the Bitcoin brand. Before you make posts like that in the future, you should check out the public relations page and search the forum here for other discussions about how to spread the word in a way that won't get you hated and banned on other websites.

I am sorry. I realise, after reading the public relations link, that my article promotes some unwanted ideas. I hope you understand that my intentions where good and I wasn't trying to do any harm to the Bitcoin brand. I'll make the corresponding changes to my article.
Oh, don't worry, I know that. It's just that this has been a constant problem and it has left a bad taste in the mouths of many people. However, I'm glad that you're here and ready to learn how to market Bitcoin in a more sensible way. Do some searching around, there's plenty of good information here about marketing Bitcoin and actually marketing psychology in general.

I thought you post was pretty good. It just lacks experience.
860  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let's nominate Chairman Byron Micon for BTC Peace Prize on: November 13, 2012, 02:06:29 AM
I will also nominate him. I trolled these scammers (aka borrowers) and idiots (aka lenders) hard. I always called them by their true names.
Micon shows me that I could have trolled them even harder. I'm sorry for my mistake.
I hate you now, and I don't hate many people. Your lack of understanding that trolling only makes things worse disgusts me.
