Hi all,
Long time Bitcoin user here - long time bitcointalker too, though mostly a lurker!
I've set up this account, "irishbitcoins", as a prelude to establishing a small Irish Bitcoin exchange with my more technologically astute business partner.
Bitcoin is relatively unknown here in Ireland and consequently a lot harder to purchase than it should be.
There is, however, interest in integrating Bitcoin as a method of payment from a number of small business owners that I've spoken with. Given current Eurozone uncertainties (and the huge distrust in the banking system here), the idea of a de-centralised, unregulated form of currency would appeal to a large proportion of Irish people if it can be presented properly.
It is our intention to make it a simple process for Irish people to learn about Bitcoin, trade Bitcoin, and for Irish businesses to integrate Bitcoin into their payment systems.
Having bought a relatively large number of bitcoins when prices were low, we're in a good position for initial face to face trades, and will be able to offer great value introductory pricing when we finally begin trading.
This is just the beginning for us; no doubt we'll have many questions to ask, and a lot of groundwork to cover before we begin operating safely and securely, but we hope to be able to contribute positively to the community here, and to the success of Bitcoin in general.
Great to meet you all!
