I strongly hope there will be a dip until then. I sold my bitcoins a little under $11 in anticipation of huge shitstorm as an aftermath of the Pirate's scam, but the market seems to be bullish.
i hope you have a bid placed... any dip or crash will be aggressively bought, if you dont have a bid you wont catch it. you better hope some one has been hording for a very long time and is now looking to buy a new house What about ASIC? As far as I know, it is supposed to come out before halving (i don't know exactly when). If it really improves mining that brutally, the price should fall due to influx of new coins.

I'm not sayin I voted yes, I'm just sayin I didn't vote no.
But obviously (to me) it depends on what it is. I wouldn't invest in a hit-man business or anything violent.
To be more specific, I meant drugs. I just didn't write it in the OP, because I wanted to see the general view on crime.

Since gambling and illegal stuff seem to be the only two "industries" that flourish in today's Bitcoin environment I was wondering whether you guys would consider illegal business as an investment option for you.
Please, note that I am NOT giving you an offer. I'm just curious.

"Note: PM privacy is not guaranteed. Encrypt sensitive messages."
Seems the forum policy is that PM are personal messages and not private messages.
"Haha, you trusted me, you idiot!" You have just validated every bad thing everyone has ever said about you. Anyone who sends me Personal Message's about trying to make secret illegal deals that would hurt others in the community should not trust me. I haven't seen such a demagogic hypocrite in a long time. I am disgusted.

If he only pays some debt holders like Vlad then people who are not paid can then sue Vlad for their chunk of the debt.
I don't know where you got that information. If I'm not mistaken, they could only sue Matthew for not paying them. And that's only theoretically, since no bitcoin-related crimes have ever been punished by law and this one will not be an exemption. In real economy, there are companies that buy debts from creditors with a discount and then try to make debtors pay and since they have a professional background and good lawyers they are often successful where original creditors are not. Such businesses are completely legit and benefical. Also please bear in mind that publicly posting private communication is wrong on many levels. I stopped trusting you a long time ago, and you're only making it worse. Seems like too many respected members of the community are untrustworthy (i.e. completely unreliable or with downright scamming tendencies).

You need to calm down, Atlas. I saw you edit out the giant middle finger directed to Bad Bear and edit out calling him an asshole and trying to lock the thread because you don't like where it's going.
This made me laugh hysterically. Also this is something I'd totally expect of a /b/tard. Welcome back and let the trolling begin!

This is just another scam.
Would a scammer first create an Open Source documentation of the "scamming master plan"? Would a scammer operate member controlled? Would a scammer meet with his victims in person in Las Vegas? Would a scammer do all the things Pirate did? But hey, don't listen to me. After all, I'm just a troll. I spread unnecessary FUD and if this fails, I'm the one to blame.

As a new user, it is certainly demoralizaing to see so many threads about scams all the time. Why don't the mods just ban the discussion of these problems from the forums? Obviously, it is still important for these issues to be dealt with in private, but it is overall bad for bitcoin for this site to be filled with so many topics that talk about negative things all the time.
Get out. While you still can. Don't listen to him. I've been using Bitcoin for over a year and a half and haven't lost a single satoshi. If you treat it like real cash money, better yet, gold, you will be fine. Think to yourself before sending someone Bitcoins, "Would I send a gold coin to this person?" Yes, see this is good advice and good advice should be encouraged . But all of these threads where people are complaining and talking about how everything is a scam all the time is very upsetting. Perhaps the mods should think of bitcoin as a brand and this forum as a sort of company website. Yes, it is important to address the negative things, but after they have been dealt with with a statement from the forum staff or something maybe it would be best to say that there will be no more discussion of the matter. The goal here is, after all, to make bitcoin a mainstream currency and spreading FUD is counterproductive to that. edit: or maybe make it so that such talk is restricted to an area visible for forum users above a certain post count? As far as I know, the community is very concerned about creating a positive public image, but the problems are real and need to get solved. However, I agree that this has gone too far and the victims are annoying and contraproductive.

I hate to say this but this "unveiling of number 8" isn't always a good thing. So far in history there is a reason why the heavy hand of authority comes into play, and unsurprisingly after markets have been deregulated for a time period, and turned into a steaming pile of shit. I personally believe that human nature falls into two social categories - those that take advantage of people and those that are taken advantaged of. There will be other pirateat40's with get rich quick ponzi schemes, there will be other Matt's that make reckless bets and don't pay up, and there will be many other denizens that will be far worse than these two combined; at this point in time, it's a simple race to the bottom really.
So, what happens in a completely unregulated market? Is it all a house of cards and one blow away from oblivion because there is no trust? Do all the weak hands, and/or naive investors all leave? Will people finally wise up after being scammed (maybe numerous times) and understand that this isn't a game? You are right, we are going into an unknown, but no one really knows if this will be good or bad.
Free market not only gives freedom to individuals. It also liberates society from burden of the weak members. The weak must perish, so the strong may flourish.

While i completely agree on banning crying like a little bitch when you lose money because of your naivety you'll have to admit that bitcoin can be a bit of a minefield, certainly for newcomers. Features like built in escrow will be very much appreciated by most of the community i think.
I support your idea. I do not support any centralized regulations.
