901  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Whining noise from S9 fan? on: December 27, 2017, 12:33:44 AM
you should really try to get temps down. they are supposed to operate under 40C

This guy is smoking crack.

The s9 can run over 100c.

The fan noise is normal, its an industrial miner not meant for home use. Changing the fan will cause nothing but problems.
902  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 is beeping. Where do I start diagnosing? on: December 27, 2017, 12:28:14 AM
The beeping is a network problem. If your IP changed it sounds like your machine is set to DHCP.

You either lost internet or the DHCP lease timed out.
903  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Styrofoam noiseproof box for s9 on: December 27, 2017, 12:26:35 AM
Its an industrial miner that makes industrial sounds. Choking it to death because you didnt research the unit properly before buying seems like a bad idea.
904  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 problem - no BMMiner version or Hardware version, stuck at ASIC section on: December 27, 2017, 12:24:08 AM
It shows that one of your boards is failing. It should read 63 chips but board '7' is only showing 59
905  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: clock speed on s7 ; safe to overclock? on: December 27, 2017, 12:16:38 AM
Dont ever overclock your s7 unless you want it to die in the very near future.

Overclocking has nothing to do with the temperature. Its overclocked by its hash speed. If you currently have it at 550mhz you actually have it underclocked right now.

The 54 chip units have either a 575 of 600mhz stock clock depending on the batch.

The 45 chip version has a stock clock of 700 mhz.

I assume by the fact that at 550 you are at 4.4TH that you have a 54 chip machine. There should be a sticker on the hash board that says 575M or 600M. That is the stock frequency for your version of the s7.

P.S. The s7 will run up until 80c chip temps before shutting off. If you wanna push it hard you can run it in the low 70s safely. I have boards that have been doing it for over 18 months.
906  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 wont hash on: December 27, 2017, 12:15:58 AM
Try screenshots of the miner page rather than text vomit like that. Also you need to be looking at the kernel log for problems, the status page tells you very little.
907  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Next batch from Bitmain Feb/March. Will it actually ship then? on: December 26, 2017, 09:58:00 PM
Preordering through a seller means you get no warranty. Good luck with that.

P.S. My end of January batch shipped today so you never know when they will be arriving.
908  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Network Hashrate Growing at .05% per day!!! 5k s9's on: December 26, 2017, 05:56:31 PM
The ignorance in this thread is pretty impressive. This theory that bitmain is taking your money specifically to run their own miners is just plain dumb. Bitmain has 10k+ of their own mienrs sitting on the ground because even they cannot find datacenter space for them all. Why do you think they tried making agreements with places like great north data to run their equipment? They can only put them up as fast as new space becomes available so thats another conspiracy theory you can toss out the window.

An s9 makes $850/month before power costs and everyone is complaining that bitmain is holding down profits. Were none of you in this industry a year ago? Gimme a break.
909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to connect to the joint mining of SIB? on: December 22, 2017, 06:26:00 PM
SIB sure doesnt sound like bitcoin and this is the bitcoin mining section of the forum.

Reading is hard.
910  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New SHA Miner Pricing Compared on: December 22, 2017, 05:32:33 PM
ps. why you hate M3 so much? just curious..

Its not hate. While it does have impressive efficiency considering its a 28nm process, it is still not comparable to current generation miners and its effective lifespan will be much shorter. It is just not a smart buy if you are doing this for a living.
911  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Factory reset with SD card for Antminer S9 on: December 22, 2017, 05:17:05 PM
You dont need  an SD card to reset to factory settings. Just use the IP Reporter reset method.
912  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New SHA Miner Pricing Compared on: December 22, 2017, 05:14:30 PM
The M3 shouldnt even be on that list. Anyone buying that garbage is going to lose out in the long run.
913  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 cooling in hot weather on: December 22, 2017, 04:23:41 PM
Ventilation only helps so much. If you are feeding it really hot air it will overheat and shut down. That being said your temps are not too crazy and it most likely will run just fine as long as you do have proper air flow.
914  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Is it possible to bypass the AUC3 on: December 22, 2017, 04:20:53 PM
If you have 16 Avalon 7s you should have 16 AUC3's. Each miner comes with one.
915  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Powering an S9 with a Transformer. Need Help! on: December 22, 2017, 04:19:02 PM
the APW3 only puts out 1200w at 110, its not enough to run the entire miner.

Adding a 220 circuit is really simple if you know what you are doing. An electrician can do it in no time at all.
916  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Problem with Awesome miner. on: December 22, 2017, 04:17:42 PM
Try the alt coin section. Also, try running an actual miner rather than a program made for just controlling miners.
917  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 fan upgrade for noise reduction and other questions on: December 22, 2017, 04:16:29 PM
Thanks man!
But still:
3. You bought an industrial miner, thats why its loud. If you put that fan on your miner wont run. Its 2100 rpm and 70cfm too weak. Dont change the fan.
http://www.overclock.net/products/delta-afc1212de-sp02-1120-x-120-x-38mm-extreme-hi-fan-dell-5pin-rpm-3900-rpm-air-flow-148-34-cfm-noise-level-51-dba
Its 150 CFM. Not 70. And native QFR is 210 CFM AFAIK. As native works at 4000-4500 actual speed it gives us 140-160 CFM. So AFC could handle that with lower noise? Im not smart ass - just wanna sort it out Grin

4. No, not really. Why would you constantly be turning it off anyway? The whole point is to keep it as near 100% uptime as possible to maximize profits.
I mean several times or so while tuning. Not constantly of course)

You are replacing a 220cfm fan with a 150 cfm fan...and as I said the fan you want to use is 70 cfm too weak. 220-150=70 does it not?

Turning it on and off a couple times will not do any long term damage, maybe tell the guy that told you it was dangerous that its not the 1980s anymore lol
918  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining Farm Logistics on: December 21, 2017, 11:03:40 PM
1. Costs can vary wildly depending on location. Do you have large trunk lines running near? There are a ton of studies you need to do. Environmental impact and the like. The only substation I ever priced out was about $1 million but it is right next to an existing substation and high capacity lines.

2. Generating your own electricity is a great option if you can build a wind farm. Solar is a non starter due to cost and limited production capacity. Maybe natural gas generators if you have mineral rights and access to it.

Its really about location as far as how you can set your power up. If you are in a rural farm area with no access to larger capacity power lines you are pretty much boned.
919  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Internet Connection And Antminer S9 on: December 21, 2017, 10:54:09 PM
It should reconnect on its own.
920  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Tips for finding locations for small farm setup on: December 21, 2017, 10:34:43 PM
1. You just have to look around for a larger service or talk to the landlords about upgrades.

2. In the case of limited ventilation you can use a hot/cold system where you pressurize the fresh air intake isle and just blow the heat into the rest of the building.

3. If you use the above method there isnt much sound to dampen. You should only look at free standing buildings. Any shared walls will always be a deal killer.

4. Depends on your location I guess. That should be plenty for a small setup.
