Being efficient and accurate is very different and much easier than being sensitive, diplomatic and courteous.

You guys clearly have many skill sets, but I think it is quite obvious to everyone that your communication skills are limited to getting the point across; you don't have friendly or warm personas in your dealings with the community and you haven't inspired great feelings of filial unity.

Rather than snapping back with justification and defence (as I'm sure you will want to do) why not simply acknowledge what is a pretty modest weakness? A lot of communication could have been handled better. It's no big deal, it's not your remit. I'd rather you were blunt (also infers 'insensitive') as you are dealing with business and real world application.

I was a community manager for 6 years, the skills required to galvanise and grow a community are quite different and much more common than the skills you have. I wish you'd just listened to us earlier and got yassin or someone to act as your community manager (I'm retired and not volunteering lol).  Wink

I mean you no disrespect David, none of us are perfect and you have done amazing things worthy of great praise and respect. You have earned the right to be a little acerbic, but don't bother defending the accusations of insensitivity, just own it and move on.

Anyway.... Yumei, I don't have to be diplomatic as I have nothing to do with the project really. You are an idiot. Never in a million years would I have fallen for that. 10btc per Ti?Huh Pasting that convo as defence reveals how easily a fool and his money are parted. Did you even research the price first? Why do you think he'd sell at so much below the going rate? Ever heard of something being too good to be true and needing to be double-checked? You are a mug! Dom would have been right to take the mick if he'd been a random user and not associated with the project. He's also a young, smart bloke, we all know how quick they are with their tongues. Are you really that surprised by standard human behaviour and lack of empathy from young geeky dudes? Grow up and stop venting here, the blame all sits squarely on your shoulders and no one owes you any sympathy or understanding. This is a decentralised project, not your average customer relations issue with business operators. They don't care about diplomacy; I don't think it matters a huge amount at this stage and with this kind of project, so what you gonna do about it? Grow a pair and act like a man.

Everytime I run the client and try to send Iota (to Big Deal) my internet connection is cut and I have to reset my router. Never run into this problem with any other crypto client. Any ideas?

I'm using v 1.0.3 and the link below, it saves having to sync, just unzip it straight into the IRI file.

http://forum.iotatoken.com/t/hourly-backup-of-iri-database-download-link/527

This works perfectly for me and I can send coins very quickly any time I try. Smiley

I have heard others having router/internet connection issues with v1.0.4

As a developer I tend to stay out of this type of discussions, but I would encourage everyone that trust our vision and execution to donate to BigDeal, it will open big doors that will bring a lot of new devs and investors to the Iota ecosystem. If you trust our vision it should be an easy choice.

Okay, count me in for 5Ti, will send once I get home and sync client

Hi, msin!

Are you still with us? We stuck at 29.7 Ti.

Yes, my client was having issues but you can count me in for 5Ti.

You rock dude, good on you!

It's a domino effect of donations that has stalled atm, but with your 5Ti we might well be able to push it the rest of the way, fingers-crossed!

It is very common for people to misunderstand what maidsafe is doing, it's certainly not the kind of project one can appreciate the implications for with a cursory glance, or 30 mins of reading. Their vision has always been Secure Access For Everyone (SAFE) and "Privacy, Security and Freedom" by replacing the server model... since 2006 with safecoin as part of that vision long before btc existed. But yes, most people think it's just a data storage solution... probably a good thing to stay under the radar given how disruptive and subversive it really is under the hood.

I do find it weird that the most interesting and innovative chainless consensus solutions know so little about each other (the maidsafe guys don't seem to know much about IOTA either). I suppose there are a lot of bright people existing in their own busy and creative bubbles.

I know you're a busy guy, but if you do get a few hours spare one day I'd encourage you to dig a bit deeper and poke around to see what they've been doing. I think you'd be impressed, as would they if they took a closer look at what you'd achieved in such a short time.

Anyway, enough derail... IOTA rocks and will change the landscape for settlements and data transfer, there is no denying that! Wink
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: August 26, 2016, 10:19:04 PM

Yes, indirectly IOTA makes Storj, Maidsafe and Sia obsolete. The two core features of IOTA core is Settlements without fees and Data Transfers without fees, since these are the 2 essential ingredients to IoT, combine the two and you have a superior system to all these other projects by default. And I personally believe that it's way better to have all of these technological resources, whether it be storage, processing, electricity, bandwidth or whatever trade in 1 'Economy-of-Things' rather than split each resource into its own token.

Manual claims that have contacted via contact@iotatoken.com will be processed in the weekend/early beginning of next week, yes.

I don't think you can put maidsafe/safenetwork in the same bag as sia and storj!!! IOTA definitely does not make a server-less, secure, censor-resistant internet obsolete, which is essentially what maidsafe are building... and being chainless safecoin will also be feeless, with no mining or pow (they use proof of resource), instant etc . I'll give you the other two, but maidsafe is a huge project and SAFEnetwork would be extremely valuable IF they ever actually pull it off. IOTA doesn't change that.

IOTA is a very different project, it's apples and oranges.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: August 25, 2016, 10:57:42 PM
Now that's more like it boys!

I was getting disheartened. I only had 2Ti and have donated 300Gi so far between foundation and deal.

Seeing this push inspires me, I will send another 100Gi to take it to 20% total.

To the freeloaders... I hope your profits leave a bad taste in your mouth when you reflect on your contribution to the success of the project. You'll undoubtedly be bragging about having invested in IOTA. Why not feel a sense of pride in yourself for helping it become a success when you do gloat about your 100s of Xs? Self-actualise into the kind of person that takes responsibility for themselves and the people who are carrying them. It feels good being on this side of the fence and the profit and karma will all follow the right decision. You don't need to leech to take as much money as you can, you need to dig deep to do that.

Voter apathy is unacceptable, there are only 300 of us crowdsalers, we ALL need to contribute as much as we can or risk seeing it all stagnate.

That means you!!!!! Every single one of us matters!
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA :: Buying / Selling on: August 24, 2016, 09:27:14 AM
It took me less than an hour to get my order filled when selling through slack. I put in best offer at 0.01315 and got two messages offering to buy all of it within the hour.

There is NO reason for anyone to come on here and sell for so much less!

Logic should tell you this guy either hates money or he's on the blag.
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA :: Buying / Selling on: August 24, 2016, 09:16:25 AM
The explanations for why he is selling cheap and doesn't trust seccour or yassin are both unsatisfactory.

He could easily sell his coins quickly at twice that price. Why would he choose to get less money for them when there are buy request orders in trading channel on slack for sooo much more than he is asking? He could sell them all today at twice the price he is asking for if he offers to use yassin or seccour.

Why does he not trust escrow services that have not screwed anyone over and dealt with large sums already?

I still feel that this is a scam and would urge anyone involved to insist on yassin or seccour or just refuse. There is no good reason for him to 'not trust' the two guys who have been completely trustworthy thus far. Trusting his multi sig escrow seems like madness. His sale price does not make sense and his explanation is irreverent... WHY do you want less money for them when you could sell them all today for twice as much?

None of this story really adds up or makes any sense. If it smells like bullcrap it almost always is.

Buyers beware!!!

I would like to buy some Ti s for 6.8 BTC  , you can see the price at the moment on http://iotawallet.com/

escrow would be SebastianJu https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1102721.0

thank you

That is not the correct price I'm afraid dude.... 6.8btc for 1Ti would be a very, very good deal. You should count yourself lucky if someone is willing to sell at 2x that price. Escrow, OTC market has price at over 0.0135btc/Gi atm.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: August 23, 2016, 09:14:57 AM
ok ok, donated another 7% of what's left in my stash.

Tx Hash: DFGYXALQSBZNMOXSC9ENVU9V9NRXNQLANKQRGKJSRSRQSBRFAVWVNAHKPSOMOHJHWFNKWRTYHRAVB99 99

that's 17% I've given now! Come on free-riders. Every Gi matters, even if it doesn't feel like your 100 Gi will make a difference. It sucks that we're in this situation instead of just voting and acting as one without free-loading, but since we are, those of us with common sense and foresight need to donate more than our 5-10%. If YOU decide to not bother, then it wont happen and your money will be worth 10x less!

it'll be well worth it!

Selling at $30m cap now may sound big, but there's a good reason that sellers are not all over it at that price, everything being sold at less than $20M cap was snapped up, so the market has spoken. Like most people I'm still holding 90% of my stash waiting for a year or more.

If IOTA does get adopted by some big businesses and evolves a strong developer community then the sky's the limit; btc, eth are all potentially small fry.  Shocked

Ok, well for those of you with more patience than me, here's your chance to capitalise on that.

I don't think exchanges will come any time in the next week or two and I see some other opportunities for big returns elsewhere, so...

I'm now selling 750 Gi for 15 BTC (0.02btc/Gi).

Escrow with yassin or seccour.

Will do smaller batches, but nothing under 2 btc.

First come, first served.

EDIT: 100 sold, 650 Gi now left

Wow, working really quickly and smoothly atm... all previous txs are now 100% except the double-spends ofc.

All looking really good, well done!

Unfortunatelly, I had to remove part of "Sparta" code which allowed us to see how network works in extremal conditions. We still need to test these conditions somehow on the real network, it's impossible to do proper testing on a testnet. Most of user won't like it, but it's really needed, while we run the coordinator we should organize several "war games".

what does that mean in layman's terms for IOTA over the next few weeks? how does this affect the timeline?

400 Gi for 12 BTC (0.03 BTC per Gi), escrow required with one of the usual duo.

I have an in-sync tangle and can complete immediately.

Willing to split as low as 100Gi/3BTC deals, no less.
