How I miss the days before the rally when the price could stay stable for months, those were calm, good days....
Never knew those days. Acquired my first bitcoins a couple of weeks before the Pirate Pump 'n' Dump. Volatility is the norm from all I've seen

I know it's a cliché but the first thing that springs to mind is "calm before the storm". It'll change dramatically after the weekend no doubt. Edit: And this guy has been uncannily accurate.... Its been a good week. More excitement to come soon.

proudhon, aren't you still holding some BTC in your offline wallets?
Yes. I still have some bitcoins. I'll probably buy more when we dip into the single digits again. lol. Nice one I'm sure you're holding a lot more coins than everyone around here is assuming too. And at least you're not a horrible troll. I just read your posts in an Eeyore voice

I noticed a 10,000 BTC ask appear for a few seconds on the Clark Moody page, then it disappeared and reappeared a couple of times before finally disappearing.
The strange thing is, this was only a few cents away from the ask at the top of the list - ie - the lowest price.
I've noticed it too. Earlier there was another 10k wall and it got eaten. I wonder if this one is being put there briefly to try to fool the bots, but not long enough to get eaten again.

I just checked out the User Ranking on BTC Guild and I see user ID 67117 is hitting 5TH/s! That's over 1 billion shares and 290 blocks found in just a couple of weeks. Pretty incredible. It's going to be an interesting year in mining for sure

bitcoin is very much and always has been undervalued, we all know it has the potential to go to 1000$ a coin due to moderate success, but prices have been kept low all this time because the perceived risk was crazy high and early adopters were cashing out a few million dollars, this perceived risk appears to be less and less of a concern these days... and investors (I'm taking real investors, not a bunch of little users buying 1000$ worth...) are now willing to come aboard...
we could very well see 1000$ bitcoins b4 the end of the year.
Wait, what??? Is this Adam's bullish doppelgänger?

50cents away, ~26hours to go, exciting!
what was it again? "32$ wont be reached in feb 2013"? The bet stated that $32 had to be exceeded by the end of the month, so still a very good chance Adam will win his bet since it will take over 18,000 coins to get there. Was a good bet

whose value has skyrocketed 399,900% in one year. Oh really?? Initially, they were worth exactly nothing, they could have said 999,999,900% and still be technically correct. Perhaps it is more accurate to say initially they were worth an unknown amount. The first transaction assigned a value to them, and then you can measure from there. I think the value first given to bitcoins is described on this page: http://newlibertystandard.wetpaint.com/page/2009+Exchange+RateFrom that page: "During 2009 my exchange rate was calculated by dividing $1.00 by the average amount of electricity required to run a computer with high CPU for a year, 1331.5 kWh, multiplied by the the average residential cost of electricity in the United States for the previous year, $0.1136, divided by 12 months divided by the number of bitcoins generated by my computer over the past 30 days."
