Bye Bye wall
43  Economy / Speculation / Re: Explanation for BTC price surge? on: February 12, 2013, 10:00:15 AM
#1 reason of the surge in my opinion is people don't want to miss the boat and see prices rise every day - reinforcing that feeling, making people buy, reinforcing the surge. And round and round we go - until this bubble collapses.

Don't get me wrong, I love bitcoin and all it's possibilities and advantages, but the surge we see right now however is in my opinion a classic bubble - not anything in particular of the 5 things you mention.

Nice job! I think the 100 mB are good as it is hard to get people to set up a wallet without noticing real benefits immediately.

58  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if it just doesn't go down again? on: February 10, 2013, 11:12:41 PM

As prices get higher, small investors only able to buy a few Bitcoins, Don't have anyway of making money off 1-2 Dollar swings in price, so new investors has to be of a more serious size, investing a few thousands first time they get into Bitcoin.

How is that? Could you elaborate?
59  Economy / Speculation / Re: When are you going to cash out? on: February 10, 2013, 11:10:50 PM
I'm selling when I see a relatively large price drop hopefully just before the crash.

You and everyone else Wink

I'm no expert here, but shouldn't one be buying on the large price drops and selling on the increases?

Sure, but in case one only has BTC on exchanges, one can better seel at the beginning of the drop and buy back at the bottom. Of course, if you can get USD/EUR to your exchange quick enough or are prepared you can hold and buy.

Looks like somebody has been cashing out (see the last two steep spikes):
