Are there any greater developments in process?

Despite everything, development has continue for a long time. There's been a lot of development recently.

The next version is coming out and will offer some greatly anticipated features on the DEX. I understand this is about 1 week away.

It was 1 week away 2.5 years ago.

Can we fork Mastercoin working under Counterparty? Every holder can burn msc and then get XCP token. Because devs have show they can doing good desktop wallet etc what Counterparty devs are not able to do it will working there really good. Also then there is smart contracts soon available for mastercoin. I think someone from Counterparty community can give MASTERCOIN asset also for use.

I am tired this "Awesome" news what is mostly all what are left.

"We" can do anything "We" want. You don't need permission to try anything.

Just ignore ChainAnchor mined blocks. Let the blockchain fork.

I'm a crypto newbie and discovered mastercoin recently, and learnt that it was the first crypto 2.0 project, and raised a ton of funds. What happened? why is mastercoin doing so poorly compared to the competition? I don't mean to sound rude, just genuinely interested in piecing together what happened. I appreciate people are probably still working to make mastercoin a success in the future, but something must have gone wrong somewhere in the early days to lose first mover advantage and all the ico funds.

A classic story of hubris really. Would you believe that the counterparty folks once offered to actually help build mastercoin? Yep. It was almost once one cohesive project of Bitcoin 2.0 tech. Now it's nothing really, and the division that was sowed in the community lead the real corporations to simply build their own projects rather than collaborate with the bickering "communities" down here below.

So yeah. Great idea, but ideas are not enough.

Anyone have reference to this story here?

There were multiple people/teams that were turned away from creating a bitcoind implementation during the first few months. The reason was, JR insisted that "he alone would create the reference client". Not sure why JR never did any programming. It would only be speculation that he is incapable, or maybe was too busy popping champagne.

MasterXchange is very fishy lately, withdrawals are being delayed for 3-5 days as if he waits for others to deposit..  hes killing the exchange..
I just had a withdrawal that took less then a day. Seems fine to me.

Probably a good idea to not even consider MSC until those 60k get dumped by the devs.

Ross explains what went wrong with mastercoin:
http://ripper234.com/p/so-whats-up/

Ron and JR made a lot of huge mistakes, none of which are mentioned in Ron's pitiful blog post.

Oh poor Ron, he has a mental disorder, it excuses everything.

Does anyone know when the 60k msc, that JR donated to the foundation, will be paid out to the devs? It would be nice to see the devs not dump them as they get them, unlike the last year and a half.

What i think is funny is JR pumping the price to $4 to get a $250k tax write off.

Why has factom dropped onmi for issuing their tokens?

edit: found the answer
"Kirby spoke about the challenge Factom faced when seeking to orchestrate the sale, voicing his optimism that the project would avoid the pitfalls of those held in the past on platforms such as Mastercoin."

Even if Greece leaves the EU it won't be an immediate domino affect, it's not like other countries will see it the next day and decide to leave. They will have to go through their own government procedures and votes and all of that. The confidence in the Euro will take a hit though.
Everything is ok now, because Senator Sanders is going to get congress to bail out Greece.

Most credit cards and banks cover for unauthorized losses, which BTC does not have this insurance.

But they pass this cost of fraud onto the consumer, effectively raising the price of everything you buy. BTC insurance could become a fairly large industry.

Citation please?  People here say that a lot but I've never seen any proof that fraud is a line in COGS

I assume the merchants are subsidising that in the fees they pay.

With the banks getting 29 trillion dollars in bailouts over the last 6 years, what is the cost per transaction taking that into account?

Mainly is the " interchange fee" the Visa and MC and AMex, Disc pays to the middle merchant banks to promote their cards, which includes interest 2-3% and per transaction fees.

Yes merchants pay a cc fee.  But any proof they pass this onto consumer?  I think they just eat it in their margin.  I know my business did

The intermediary bank and association pays for it.

But the "interchange" association will reimburse some of the loss to the final merchant if they used rules like i.d. verification  and physical swipe of transaction  them from the buyer, online sales are much higher risk than physical location, therefore the higher interest and swipe charges for online merchants.

Thank you.

I also think the claim that bitcoin is cheaper than CC is bogus.  Cost per transaction is all time low and it's still around $8-9.  A year ago it was almost $80 per transaction

https://blockchain.info/charts/cost-per-transaction

On top of that there's the 9% inflation from block rewards

With the banks getting 29 trillion dollars in bailouts in the last 6 years, what is their real cost per transaction?

is anyone paying attention to the macroeconomic picture? The Swiss National Bank shocked world markets by removing it's peg to the Euro, causing it's value to skyrocket. Two systemic Greek banks are using an emergency liquidity tool at the ECB to try and prevent a bank run.  Oil Tanked and Gold spiked. This is 2008 all over again only worse this time.

How this will affect Bitcoin is anyone's guess, but I'm starting to think even my 2.5% margin long was way too premature.

Bank runs mean extreme DEFLATION of national currencies until the central banks ramp up the printing presses, start accepting used toilet paper as collateral and various other forms of counterfeiting.

Wealth is going to evaporate, credit is going to dry up and markets are going to crash with the exception of the safest government bonds (U.S., Swiss and maybe a few others).

I've warned many times for everyone to get their coins (and even fiat) off the exchanges if you aren't going to trade, but now I am saying it may soon be time to get your fiat out of the banks.

One person made the decision to un-peg the CHF/EUR. One person can't make those decisions in bitcoin land.
