21  Economy / Games and rounds / BTC Mafia Game! on: September 12, 2012, 05:43:29 AM
If you've been online at any point since 1990 you should be familiar with the mafia game.

The mafia game consists of two classes - townsfolk and mafioso. (or villages and vampire/warewolf, agents and spies yada yada)

At the end of each day the mafioso kill one of the townsfolk. Players try to figure out who the mafioso are, vote each day and kill one the other players.

The game ends when either all the villagers are dead, or the villagers successfully kill all the mafioso.

One player is the detective, and can PM the narrator (me in this case) daily to inquire as to whether or not another player is mafia or not. The detective's role will not be divulged.

I figure we can ante up on both sides, and once we have enough confirmed players - we will begin rounds.

If the villagers win - every villager player gets an equal portion of the winnings.

If the mafia wins - the mafia players get equal portions of the winnings.

I may keep a small organizer/DM fee as charity for running and thinking up witty and clever ways to kill off players, I might not. This will depend on how interested folks are.

I'm thinking we do round 1 with 8 townsfolk and 2 mafia, for a total of 10 players - should keep the math pretty simple.

Mafia and townsfolk will be chosen at random, as will the detective.

Let's say ante would be .05 BTC

Payout would be .0625* per villager in the event of a villager victory. (as there are more of them and they have better odds)
Payout would be .25* per mafia in the event of a mafia victory.

* (assuming I decide not to keep any for myself for the trouble of running and organizing)

Thoughts?

Keyboard shortcuts would be boss.

I hate having to constantly click when I want to double my bet.

D for double, S for spin (on roulette at least), H for hit, etc...

I've noticed a lot of times on roulette I have to click several times before it registers my click. It happens a lot when the bet/double button lines up over another number or between two numbers. I need to move my mouse a little bit and click again, even though I was already on the button. /shrug/

Been having a lot of fun testing my Roulette betting strategy algorithm I coded in MATLAB on the roulette wheel. The chances of hitting the opposite color that many times in a row to kill my entire bank should be astronomically slim, yet it's happened to me twice. Just goes to show gambling is just that, a gamble.

Either way, keeps me occupied and is loads of fun.

Thanks for letting me know it works on mobile, now I'm never gunna get anything done haha!

Loved bitzino ever since I found out about it.

I am like .1 BTC in the hole because of it though right now.

Fun way to kill time, but not a money maker, that's for sure.

Layout is sleek. I'm just glad there isn't a mobile version - I would be screwed. lol

I was having ZERO problems with GUIMiner until I restarted my computer this morning.

Was averaging >60MH/s before, and now I can't even connect to slush, deepbit, or anything...

Tried reinstalling it from a fresh download, nothing.

It either hangs up on "Starting" or "Connecting..." with "Shares: 0 Accepted"

It usually gets as far as  "Listener for "GPU1" started", and that's it

Windows 7
NVidia GTX 460

At my wits end with this thing, ugh. I was doing pretty well in my pools too before she died on me.

Any thoughts anyone?

TIA.

No. I'm posting this from an offline machine.

Yes, internet works fine, everything is working fine, I just can't get GUIMiner to work fine like it did not 12 hours ago...

I know I've received payment before from them, but just nothing in the past 24 hours.

I guess I'll just give it some more time. Smiley
32  Other / Beginners & Help / dailybitcoins payout? on: September 10, 2012, 09:11:49 PM
I have received from them in the past, usually pretty quickly, but haven't gotten anything in the past 24 hours.

Has anyone?

I should be sitting on over .01 BTC waiting to come to me by now in fact Sad

33  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CPU Mining have any sense at all? on: September 10, 2012, 08:43:29 PM
I'm running a 2 year old Nvidia card (GTX 460) and I'm pulling >60Mhash/s.

I can't imagine CPU mining is worth it, unless its not your electricity you are running (school, computer lab, library, dorm, public wifi, etc...)

What program and flags are you using if you don't mind me asking...?

Don't mind at all.

GUIMiner - no extra flags.

If there's something I'm doing wrong, or could be doing better, I would love to hear it. Smiley

Even though I first heard of bitcoins a long time ago, I never followed it until last week. If I had been paying attention when it dropped to $2 I would have bought as many as I could. C'est La Vie.

Amen to that brother. Sad

Hello, I am currently sitting on 0.2 Bitcoins and would like to contribute to the market more than what I am. I do not have a mining rig, and I am unable to purchase Bitcoins at the moment. So instead I will draw anything for any amount of Bitcoins! I'm a terrible drawer but I will do my best!

Are we in the 70's again...? Get a job hippie!!! LOL... j/p

Personally, I view BTC the same way I view gold and silver.

An alternative currency that is only worth something to the people willing to buy it.

When the SHTF and TEOTWAWKI - it won't be worth the electrons it is printed on.

Situation like that I will rely on my stockpile of ammo to get me by.

Nope he is not, the style is different.

Idk - looks oddly similar, and the username is identical.
