321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone here who retired with Gambling winnings ? on: January 09, 2024, 10:11:10 AM
Anyone here who retired with Gambling winnings ?  If not, how much you think is sufficient to retire as Gambling winning ?
Not me, I haven't win that big to the tune of hundreds of thousands of even millions. And I doubt though that someone will retire from gambling per se. 2 night ago I was in a land base casinos and I witnessed a lady who's playing in the slots and believed me when I tell you that he had millions and yet she is still playing.

Unless you really win a lottery, maybe you will think of retiring from gambling for good. But if you are just randomly playing and hoping that you will get lucky in a casino, let's ay in a slot machine, even if you hit that grand jackpot, you will go on the next day and try to reproduce your winnings.
322  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 09, 2024, 09:41:17 AM
It is because Joshua's reputation has been shattered by Andy Ruiz, i mean he could be easily knockout as Ngannou is a power puncher if those punches land flush to the chin, i don't think Joshua could survive but that is one scenario the other being Joshua also hurting Ngannou easily as he also packs a punch. As what @FinneysTrueVision has said, this is an interesting fight as both have power and we know in boxing, a single punch could turn the fight around.

AJ reputation was shaken badly after two losses to Usyk. That first fight against Ruiz showed that AJ did not take him seriously or came unprepared for the fight (in interview AJ told that his weight was unusual for him, he was never so heavy before). But two consecutive losses to Usyk, that followed by "how you beat me?" when AJ freaked out. I would say that Ngannou or media will get into AJ head and he would feel uncomfortable during fight. And the predator wont miss that opportunity.
And to add to that, his chin, although we have been suspected that it's weak specially in the Klitscho fight, nevertheless we haven't seen him going down to a punch. But Andy Ruiz exposed him and the Usyk boxing skills shows that Joshua have a heard time beating a technical boxer. So in all, it's going to be a very dangerous fight because Ngannou can moved and then he has that power to knock him out.

With that, fans here think that Ngannou has a good chance to score a knockout punch.

But if I'm Joshua's camp though, I will make sure that Joshua will shows resiliency in this fight and unpredictability so that Ngannou can't execute his power on him.
323  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 08, 2024, 09:44:40 PM
It seems like Anthony Joshua will never underestimate Francis Ngannou because he saw how Ngannou fought against Fury and in this fight it was really surprising because Ngannou was able to make Fury feel knockdown which of course surprised us all.
A Fury who has become heavyweight boxer and is considered monster can feel knockdown from Ngannou, who could say that this fight was his first debut in boxing, but Ngannou was also tough fighter before when he was with the UFC so he has strong punches.
Definitely he shouldn't, we have discussed Fury's training though and some of us might conclude that he underestimate Francis and it almost cost him that fight and the big money paycheck against Usyk. Nevertheless, the judges awarded him the score, but not after Ngannou score a knockdown on him.

Now, Joshua doesn't have a good chin or at least recuperation that Fury had. So if by chance Ngannou landed flushed on his chin, it might be over. Joshua knows this for sure and his camp will have to train or put up a good strategy to avoid that power shot. So this could be another close one for Joshua again.

324  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC ATH ~~~ on: January 08, 2024, 09:10:44 PM
I'm  curious about the word "cycle" does this means an endless loop (forever).

Cycles repeat themselves over and over, with each turn kinda resembling the one before.  But that don't mean they got to go on forever.  Cycles can stop, and they can change too as time passes.  From everything we've seen so far, Bitcoin's four-year cycle is becoming less pronounced with each new turn, so I believe that this cycle will stop over time, or maybe shift so that in the future we'll have a bull run right before the halving, or something like that.

You're right, cycle here is define as every 4 years after the halving, we might see a bull run and new all time high. And this cycle still holds true up to this point so we can say that this year after the halving we might see a massive bull run again till next year 2025.

Currently with the news of a approval of Bitcoin ETF the price or at least the sentiments of the market is already very bullish, just in the last 24 hours, the price keeps going up to $46k and higher. So let's see how far this goes before the halving, who knows, maybe at April we might see or close to our previous all time high of $69k and then the prediction for the next high is at least 6 digits.
325  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 06, 2024, 09:02:22 AM
Are we living in another reality heehhe. Also, does Francis Ngannou have any plans on fightning in MMA again? It appears that he will retire after 1 or 2 more fights in the boxing ring.
I don't think that Ngannou will come back to UFC, he had beef with Dana White and not sure if other organizations is willing to get him because if there is, he wouldn't box against Fury. And he get his biggest paycheck in boxing, so doesn't make sense for him if he can fight like 2-3 more and then fill his bank with millions.

In any case, on the fight itself, what is the height and reach difference between Joshua and Ngannou? If Ngannou has the advantage on both height and reach, I reckon Joshua might have much difficulty in closing the distance to start his offense.

Everyone already knows Ngannou's knockout punch that almost made Fury lie down on a stretcher hehehe.
Haven't check the stats, but if Ngannou was able to put Fury in the canvass, just imagine if that power touches AJ fragile chin, he might not get back from the canvass and Ngannou winning by knockout. So still, this is going to be a interesting fight and fans are going to love this.
326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is GRIN still a thing? on: January 05, 2024, 01:15:04 PM
It's been quite a long time since the first cryptocurrency with the "Mimblewimble" privacy technique was released. My first days of using GRIN were quite troublesome due to its added complexity. But it's a great coin to use for privacy-oriented transactions once you get the hang of it. Somehow, GRIN became a forgotten cryptocurrency as all of the attention shifted back to Monero. Was this a result of poor marketing/promotion efforts? Or a lack of user experience?

I'm wondering if this coin still has a future, especially when privacy on crypto has been frowned upon by mainstream governments. Do you think it can be good long-term investment like Monero? Or is it a complete bust? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley
And if my memory serves me right, it was also at least promoted by our admin here as it was accepted for forum payments. However, it was stop in 2021 and up to now, it's no longer being accepted.

Perhaps with this news, it's no longer a thing, although if you look at the Github repo: https://github.com/mimblewimble/grin

There is still some movement months ago and it is still being developed, but there's need a lot left to be done here.
327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 interesting tips about Bitcoin halving on: January 05, 2024, 12:47:01 PM
Halving are becoming less and less important. What will drive BTC more and more is adoption and store of value against inflation.
How can it be less important when it's one of the most anticipated event in bitcoin's history? Of course, there is still the fundamentals, but BTC is more of like a store of value as you have said, and with that every halving, every wait every 4 years, BTC becoming scarce pushing the price higher.

As to the interesting facts that the OP put, yes, thanks. But I do not think the investors are really into that. I mean we don't want things to be complicated in our end, so we just wait when will be the halving and what will be our new all time high as the end of this activity.
328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inoue vs Casimero (possible fight in 2024) Let's discuss! on: January 05, 2024, 06:18:20 AM
This fight is only possible, if Casimero is going to sign with MP Promotion again. As stated in the article, MP promotion through SEAN Gibbons are willing to help Casimero to get a fight with Inoue. And according to the camp if Inoue, Champ's fight was already line up, and will start with Nery (as mandatory challenger) and Murodjon Akhmadaliev, Casimero is currently last in the list, but anything can happen as long as the negotiation is would result to in agreement of both parties.

Read, for more story here/

Gibbons willing to open door for potential Casimero fight with Inoue

A fight with Inoue represents a lot of money, that's why Gibbons is suddenly interested in working with Casimero again. Neither Gibbons, nor MP Promotions, represent Inoue so they have no power to actually make that fight happen. In the past Gibbons has prevented good fights from happening like Loma vs. Salido and Ryan Garcia vs. Pitbull Cruz because he was greedy and wanted too much money. Casimero can get the Inoue fight on his own as long as he can win impressively in his next fights.
And with that argument, we really need to see who's Casimero fighting next and he should really win big or expressive regardless of who he is fighting next. He can't just go and leap over the likes of Neri and Akhmadaliev that has been mentioned by Inoue's camp for now.

So impressive win, a big knockout and maybe the camp of Inoue will say yes. But I don't know if Gibbons will be in the middle though, and I don't think that Casimero will just go and repair his relationship with MP or Gibbons himself.
329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Martingale betting system on: January 05, 2024, 03:49:20 AM
Martingale method may work for few people that are lucky enough to recover the losses but for most people it will never work. Rather it will just going to make the losses become even more bigger. I will never ever recommend this to some for people who are worried about the losses they have made when they are planning to chase for it and try to take it back. I simply suggest to cool down call it a day and get to gambling on the other day or on the next day. It is hard to see people getting broke because of this common mistake.
That's they keyword, lucky and then you have a big capital to double up every time you lost and hope that luck will go on your side just to break even in the end. That's why majority is not advising this method or at least for average gamblers, it's very hard to run this as we don't have a big capital to begin with.

But I heard some story that this is doable and can be done in dice or even in card games like baccarat.

Imagine though, you are like losing 5 or more streak and still believe that this system works. So it's going to be more of a mental game in the end for gamblers. Whether to continue with this method or not or just stop gambling that night.
330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 05, 2024, 12:17:47 AM
^^ It's Arthur Beterbiev.

And we have a separate thread about it, Beterbiev Vs Smith January 13 SATURDAY IBF / WBC / WBO LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT Title. But in the undercard, I'm only familiar with Jason Moloney and his opponent Saul Sanchez has a decent record of 20-2 as per https://boxrec.com/cn/proboxer/746614. So this is going to be a good fight as Moloney is on a winning streak and going to defend the WBO belt he won against Astrolabio
331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 04, 2024, 09:55:54 PM
If the Lakers go bad like this, it seems like the Clippers will come to mind when Los Angeles is mentioned 🤔
Miami may not be a bad team, but they lost to Utah and the Clippers in their 3-game away series, but they beat the Lakers.
In the Lakers' Miami match, LeBron James appeared to be far from the contribution he should have made. Maybe he made 9 assists, but the 12 points he scored caused the loss.
In Miami, 8 players scored in double figures and although Anthony Davis was the top scorer of the match, Miami won the match 96-110.
With this result, the Lakers suffered their 3rd consecutive loss. He will play at home against Memphis on Saturday. If he loses this game, the next game will be the Clippers game and that game will be very difficult anyway.
Yes, I saw some post about it, Lakers keep on losing, and then Clippers keep on winning. I guess it is still the battle of Los Angeles, but this time, Clippers has the upper hand, although Lebron has won the IST tournament already but we all know that after that they keep on struggling.

Memphis with Ja Morant is going to be hard to beat as well, but even though the Grizzlies lost their last game, they make a huge comeback against the Raptors and almost win that game. So we will see how the Lakers can contained the exciting Ja but if they can't then maybe another L for them.
332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bet on favorites early in the week & underdogs late in the week strategy... on: January 04, 2024, 09:33:38 PM
I am by no means a professional gambler, and therefore I've certainly got plenty to learn (one of the reasons I like being active in this part of the forum).  I was recently listening to a gambling talk radio podcast and they were saying one basic thumb to live by when sports betting is to bet favorites in the early part of the week and under-dogs in the later part of the week as the spread tends to favor this strategy.

So I'm just curious if the sports betters in here take this "rule of thumb" strategy seriously and tend to follow it.  Or if there's any experience that says this may not be all that great of a strategy.  Thoughts?
I'm not familiar with this strategy though and this is the first time that I heard about it. Could be true or not, but as gamblers, we might take this into consideration, however, we could have our own analysis in when to bet on the underdog regardless of what time of the week it is or not.

So it really depends on whether you will go and used this strategy or it will work or not, hard to say. But if we have follow our favorite sports then we might at least see if there will be a huge upset anytime of the day or the underdogs are live, meaning even if the sports bookies put them in that category, they might pull some miracle and win the game.
333  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 04, 2024, 09:18:18 PM
If there is a demand, or if the Japanese manager of Casimero makes a offer that the camp of Inoue can't refuse. But so far, there are reports that Neri is already their chosen opponent for Inoue next and Casimero is only their 3rd choice.

Casimero's camp can't make an offer here, they aren't the one dictating the negotiation as they are the desperate to fight Inoue to make a decent paycheck.  It's still up to Inoue, but based on their status now, I think %70/30% split is already fair enough, of course in favor of Inoue.
They can still do that, we all know how corrupt boxing organizations is, we've seen mandatory getting pass by other fighters because of the money that this body are going to make to make their champion fight another guy in their ranking.

So there is a possibility and we could have seen this in the past already.

And we might also bank on Inoue's manager as a Japanese that can easily make this negotiations easy and of course, if the money is right. We will just have to wait as there could be twist and turns, just saying.
334  Economy / Speculation / Re: 112 days waiting for bitcoin halving!! on: January 03, 2024, 09:19:04 PM
I am excited for it to come, we've got side by side updates that everyone is expecting to help the market to get pushed like with the ETF. As we can see today, a single negative news brought the market a flash crash and that's how they're going to do so that they can buy the cheaper bitcoins and the ones that has been sold due to panicking. Don't be like that, keep holding and wait until the halving is done and maybe after a few months we'll see the sign of the bull run but typically, it goes for several months up to a year before it actually happens.
PS: 109 days left for halving.
Halving is more exciting than having an ETF approval, that is what I see and I'm looking forward to seeing the price of Bitcoin reach $50k.
And I've been looking forward to people still holding their coins and avoiding panic selling. Even just this time, I already consider the price of Bitcoin is bullish already, and I was expecting it to move higher after the halving event. As it happened in the previous halving, that gives us confidence that it also be the same scenario. Well, just to hope that everyone could wait for the right time to sell so we all will be happy.
I do agree though, just like in the last halving wherein we have the pandemic, but it didn't deter the market to have a bull run and reach $50k and then the eventual new all time high at $69k. As compare to ETF approval which is beyond our control and we really don't know if there will be approval or not.

So this is more important in bitcoin's history, halving is the most anticipated event. Of course, we will love to have that approval, it could bring more money in the market. But halving has been tested already as the catalyst for a bull run and so we will be happy to wait for the even to happen in April.
335  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 03, 2024, 01:42:12 PM
Though watching Casimero from his previous fight he's no longer the same Champ that fans really loves to see inside the ring, but for sure if things happen to his direction and give that opportunity to face Inoue, I'm pretty sure that he will still give that confrontation and possible to shake Inoue, like what you just said, Casimero is also a heavy puncher and not afraid in any face to face exchanges of punches he loves that way of fighting too.

Inoue's camp probably thinking that Casimero is not worthy as an opponent because he was impressive on his previous fights, but during the time when Casimero was doing great, they didn't even bother to talk about fighting him, so they can't blame the fans of Casimero to think that they are just dodging Casimero.

And some people thought that Inoue is greater than Pacman, they are wrong.

Inoue is 30 years old, let's try to make a research on the fighterst that Pacman beat when he is at his 30's.
Checked his fights 2008 and below. (https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/6129)

They are comparing him to Pacman as he's following the footpronts of Pacman, trying to keep winning in different divisions but in today's era where there are so many fighters who can beat him in different division, not sure if they are willing to bring him up, he's the current cashcow so for sure his handlers will make a good use of it, his next opponent will be for making money as he's now holding all he belts and if he decide to keep it and stay in his current divsion,
I wouldn't say that Inoue is a cash cow, I mean he only fight in Japan, and so for me the definition of a cash cow is that the boxers can bring a lot of money and fans in the arena, in terms of PPV and live gates. But we can also say that if Inoue is fighting in US, but majority of his fight are in his native Japan.

there's a chance that money wise, they might bring's Casimero's name in the table as there are fans who would love to see them fighting to prove who's better among them.
If there is a demand, or if the Japanese manager of Casimero makes a offer that the camp of Inoue can't refuse. But so far, there are reports that Neri is already their chosen opponent for Inoue next and Casimero is only their 3rd choice.
336  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting on underdog by choosing a favorite spread to increase the odds. on: January 03, 2024, 12:52:19 PM
Does anyone here do the same?

For example, let's say there's a game tomorrow between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers. The original betting spread is Indiana +2.5 vs Milwaukee -2.5. Let's assume their respective spreads have odds of 1.90, and you believe the underdog will win. Are you willing to bet on Indiana as favorites?

By saying favorites, I mean would you choose Indiana -2.5 with 2.50 odds, a little higher than the moneyline odds which is 2.23.
I guess you have to look at other factors as well, like where is the game going to play as sometimes, homecourt advantage is still that, an advantage. And in their last game, Pacers won. But if you look at the odds today, it's the Bucks that is the favorite.

Currently, I see the line +2.5 Indiana @2.06, and then -2.5 for Bucks @1.81.

So in this case, I might go with the Bucks if that is the line, unless you really you think that Pacers are a live underdog.
337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: January 03, 2024, 10:34:16 AM
Its actually correct. Playing gamble in front of your kids potrays a bad image in them. Because definately it will surely affect them as they grew older. children are very captive, meaning they have that skill of capturing things quick at a little stage, and that is the main cause why they should be avoided when gambling. Addiction is easy but very difficult to pull out. And when. It has gotten to that extent of not being able to stop them it become a prayer point.
That's why we have to be really careful in our behavior because it will affect our children, especially as they are still developing toward adulthood. They can easily imitate what we do, including our speaking, behaving, and others. And if they find out we are gambling, they might try it and maybe they will gamble with their friends. Nowadays, many children gamble with their friends without their parents knowing, so in the end, it becomes a habit for children and is carried over into adulthood. If they grow up and become a gambling addict, it will cause bigger problems for their family and themselves.
It's just the question on whether we really should do it in front of our kids, responsible parents will not or should not because they know the consequences of it. And it's like encouraging them to follow you when they grow up and you are setting a bad example.

Exposing gambling for them is really bad, no matter how you look at it, saying that you are responsible and that you just play for entertainment or have some fun. We understand that, but doing it in front of your kids, you can really influence them to go to the same path and it might not be good for them.
338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your altcoins for bull session (Between Rank 30-200) on: January 03, 2024, 10:11:44 AM
What altcoins you are holding?
I haven't invested in altcoins so far but I keep an eye on the altcoin market as it can provide good opportunities for trading and diversifying my portfolio. I also believe that some altcoins have the potential to grow and succeed in the long term, so I will continue to monitor the market and make decisions based on market trends and analysis. My first choice among alt coins is Ethereum. Also I am focusing on ADA, DOT, BNB, POL, SOL, MATIC from top alt coins. Until now I have hold Bitcoin. I am planning to invest and hold two more coins including Ethereum in the future.
Coins you have listed has the potential to explode in the next bull run, I remember ADA vividly, I invest early on 2018 and just wait for the bull run and then it went on a massive spike and give me a good profits.

So I will stick with the same formula, and so in the bear market, I invested some of those coins that you listed and hopefully it will give me at least 10x again or even higher. But there are too some coins that we might have missed early and has the potential to give us huge profits so it's time for us to still explore between rank 30-200 altcoins and hopefully we can find a diamonds.
339  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you care about what people say about you gambling? on: January 02, 2024, 08:59:58 PM

This now triggered me to come ask here whether you cares about what people says or sees you as when gambling, I know there are people who don't know you from time or who doesn't believe that you are a gambler and if it happens that you came across such people and their reaction towards you goes other way round would you care about it or you just totally ignore them?

Let's discuss amicably
Nah, I wouldn't care, but I would not go on public places and let's say just open my mobile phone connect to gambling and play, I'm not that time. But in any case I do that and I see people reacting negatively, I will just shake it off and just continue to play.

If you are bothered, then it's better to just stop your play right there because as a gambler, we all know that we are superstitious and it might bring bad luck to you if you will be concerned about something that you shouldn't. In the first place, you don't ask money from them, it's your own money, so regardless what their reaction is, you shouldn't be annoyed.
340  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will SEC delay on Spot ETF approval do to Bitcoin's price? on: January 02, 2024, 12:29:21 PM
Postponement is still a negative thing. How many times they did it? For sure, many of us are now losing their hope if a real approvement is actually going to occur.
Market says otherwise. People bet that SEC will approve Spot ETF, Bitcoin even surpassed 45K USD.

Bitcoin ETF approval can be within January 7th to10th  but not guaranteed. The positive movement of the market has come so fast mainly due to the provable ETF approval. The Halving event is still a long way. If the market was bullish for Halving then the market would not have grown so fast. The main reason Bitcoin price is currently capped is the pending approval of Bitcoin ETF. As long as we don't get anything positive, we may not see the upside of Bitcoin. If the SEC don't approve ETF, the price of Bitcoin is likely to fall further.
People bet that it will get approved because BlackRock is interested in it. I think that no one cares about halving anymore and it will have zero effect on Bitcoin's price because ETF approval is the major event that will attract billions of dollars into Bitcoin and price will increase so much that it will be enough for miners to get higher than expected reward in BTC converted to USD. So, we move from one hype (halving) to another (ETF).
If the SEC doesn't approve ETF, we will probably go down to 20K range.
I do agree, all the pressures are now on the side of SEC to approved as the entities involved here are huge. So they better be doing their job as they can't no longer postponed this Spot ETF approval as all eyes are on them.

And probably this is the reason why the price suddenly goes to $45k, as the majority is betting big that SEC will approved it this month.

So just imagine the impact it will be if we will hear that positive news before the bitcoin block halving. For sure we might be almost close to our previous all time high before the actual date of the halving itself.
