81  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can gambling turn an atheist to theist and superstitious? on: April 10, 2019, 07:17:53 PM
God is going to have her work cut out for her to convince me. I see nothing in the universe that won't be explained by rational scientific thought. Saying "God did it" is like saying "I'm just not willing to learn".

Oh no, more whale crap again.  Roll Eyes

You haven't seen nothing yet. After the prices go up a bit more, wait till the moon boys come back. It would be time to stay away from Bitcoin communities once again.

Your probably right. When the press picks up on these gains it will get full on silly. There will be Fibonacci numbers, Elliot waves, and yes mysterious whales. But still, not a single person will know the future.

85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is a Sh_tcoin and here's why (Bitcoin related) on: April 08, 2019, 03:28:05 PM
Take a breath, all is fine. Nobody is going to destroy bitcoin. If it COULD be destroyed then it should,
but it can't.
This is a consensus network and what you or I think is irrelevant. That is the way we want it so that a fork will only be considered bitcoin if the overwhelming majority think so. Which is why BCH has so little value relative to Bitcoin. You can relax or panic, but there is nothing you can do other than use bitcoin the way you want.
86  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What's for sale at your Craigslist? on: April 03, 2019, 07:43:27 PM
Craigslist hasn't really caught on in this part of the world.
...

... we have a couple different sites in Canada that seem more popular...

...Craigslist has basically failed in the UK. ...

Not a whole lot on my local Craigslist...

I guess it's hit or miss then. When I travel abroad I like to check our Craigslist and have had the same experience. Turkey, for example, is Craigslist friendly. Ya never know.

88  Other / Meta / Re: I'm not going to comply KYC on: April 01, 2019, 07:33:13 PM
Keep in mind KYC is NOT for bitcoin. YOU are required to do KYC/AML because YOU want dollars. If your plan is a lifetime of switching your money back and forth, then you will always be doing this.

I never risk my identity and the people I buy stuff from don't really know that it was me who paid.
89  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What's for sale at your Craigslist? on: April 01, 2019, 07:22:23 PM
It is actually my first time to know about this Craiglist.com and I find it very convenient...

It is kinda cool. Like a giant garage sale all in bitcoin.

Probably not a coincidence, given where I am at this current time (Netherlands)...

Same in Denver, lots of cannabis related equipment. I'm in Madison Wisconsin now. Here is a find from Madison Craigslist. Ewwww.

But the Anchor chain is something I need to find a use for. LOL

Is this a good photo for legal verification?
91  Economy / Service Discussion / What's for sale at your Craigslist? on: March 30, 2019, 02:24:19 PM
You may already know that Craigslist.com has added a filter to find items for sale in cryptocurrency. It can be a simple, anonymous way to get bitcoin for the stuff you are getting rid of anyway.

But I am curious about what you are finding locally on Craigslist.  I'm in Denver at the moment and here is the link to what is for sale:
https://denver.craigslist.org/search/sss?crypto_currency_ok=1

To check your town just go to Craigslist and is should direct you to your location. The select "For sale". If you look at the filters on the left you will notice a " cryptocurrency ok" option you can select.  There you have it!

Please post if you find something interesting or funny.  I'll start with this listing:

It's an extraction tower for making your own Cannabis extracts.  Cheesy
92  Economy / Economics / Re: Reason of Next Financial Crisis on: March 30, 2019, 02:01:26 PM
In a collapse, don't forget to steal the investment bank's money! Wink

If we do enter a serious market fall, like 2008, remember that is time to start looking at stocks to buy. Those holding cash when the market bottoms out are in a position to buy up stocks and ride the growth when the economy recovers. This of course assumes the economy will experience future growth.
93  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase pro jacks up fees, ends free maker orders on: March 25, 2019, 08:21:59 PM
That's too bad. On some of the few occasions I have bought US dollars for BTC I used the free market maker option. A good deal when conditions are right.
94  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Finally setting up a full node on: March 25, 2019, 12:04:10 PM
I just rebuilt my Linux node machine recently. A full DL of the blockchain took a full week.  Fortunately storage is so cheep that I was able to go with a 3 Terabyte HD. That should hold me for a few years. I like having a dedicated machine like this. I usually shop on a different computer and spend from my node for additional privacy.

Thanks for contributing to the network's strength and resilience!

My node finally finished syncing yesterday, i started syncing at the end of December, syncing mostly at nighttime. Now that is synced it doesn't bother much to leave it running; but during syncing the I/O access to the harddrive was insane. I still run bitcoind it with ionice -c3 just in case...
When it's syncing it's like Damn, this thing is going to catch fire running like that! Once it does sync it's like, well now it doesn't do anything. I miss syncing.

Weak connection or weak hardware. Tongue Last time I checked on a dedicated machine it took me maybe half a day for a full sync (probably less).
Both! It is an old beat up Dell that is basically a Frankenstein monster.  IMO, a node needs to be secure, but not pretty or fast. I know I could set-up my router to get more connections. I'm just not in a hurry.
95  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Visa/MasterCard supported Bitcoin or crypto on: March 24, 2019, 07:19:34 PM
...
You do not need a credit card if you know how to use bitcoin. It can be done, I cut up my cards in 2012 and have not looked back.

most people do already know how to use bitcoin but why they still have credit cards ? when you cash out , you will be using banks and you need credit cards to withdrew that money  .  sure you can use other cash out method but credit cards cash out are still easy and less hassel than others . too bad you already cut out you credit card  , i feel sorry for your loss .

I have suffered no loss. Because of bitcoin I simply do not need credit anymore and have learned what a suckers game borrowing is. So I don't cash out or pay bank fees or credit-card fees or risk my identity, I buy it with bitcoin. No matter if the purchase is a house or a light bulb.

Just like Bitcoin except less safe and now more expensive than ever! Oh, and they only work with Facebook.

98  Economy / Economics / Re: And Now Visa Wants To Enter Crypto on: March 20, 2019, 07:39:00 PM
I just hope they are not entering the "alt-coin" phase of understanding crypto. That is when some executive says "Eureka! We should create our own coin, better than bitcoin, meet VisaBucks!"

So where is that message cryptographically signed with the private key for: 1MDq7zyLw6oKichbFiDDZ3aaK59byc6CT8 ?
It will only take a minute to do. Sign a Tx and no one will doubt you. Failing to sign a Tx makes you seem like Craig Wright.  Cheesy

I have met many of the richest bitcoin holders and they all know how to do this. They also do not make their money by offering a 50% discount.  Does not compute.
100  Economy / Speculation / Re: When Will Bitcoin Be Back To $20,000 ? on: March 18, 2019, 07:15:40 PM
The question is why not when. Why should the price be $20K?

Have you sent a letter to Amazon asking them to take crypto? Have you produced something of value then sold it for bitcoin? Did you take bitcoin on your last craigslist add?

Things happen for a reason. Just ass sitting and waiting for a price hike is not doing something. We see the price go up when people are demanding retailers accept bitcoin. When they just hold, the price holds or goes down. it's logic, not magic.
