Well I rented 3.5P for 5 hours, didn't even improve on my 2B share I got with 40T.  Oh well...  That's why it's called the lotto.

New to renting and want to try it out.

when i sign up my pool
im going to use solo ck pool
under user name do i just put wallet address only? or address.worker1?
i dont need a password do i?
thanks
Welcome. Just address is fine if you're only going to have one worker. You don't need a password but if your rental service demands one, just put anything in, like x . The only difference between direct mining and rentals is that rentals often need you to use port 3334 in the configuration.

ah ok got it
thanx alot -ck

Total noob here Huh

Noob + solo will probably lead to disappointment. Try kano.is first, then after you have mined some there, come back to solo. Soloing is hard... been 110+ days on that with ~25 THs and i'm still empty handed Wink

No necessarily. I got a block with 100th in 13hours.

All about luck .

Nice!  did you rent it or you farm with it?

but being on a pool mine vs solo mine is same thing right?
you point to pool address and let it mine away?
any special configuration you need?

It is not the same, on a solo pool you only get paid if you find a block, otherwise you get nothing.  On a pool, you get paid for shares.

The difference is, IF you do hit a block on the solo pool you get the whole 25BTC.

Paywise i understand that
im talking about, point miners to ckpool solo vs kano.is
they are still using the same configuration, there is nothing that needs to be changed right? (besides pool settings)

What api address do i use in the ckpool iphone app to add my workers?
it has user name
api key

or i can add direct adresses- would that be for each worker 3jnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.worker1 and so on?
is anyone here using the iphone app?
Thanx guys.

and also was reading a couple post's ago that guy had a blockchain wallet and never hit a block, so he got some other wallet and linked it to
the blockchain.  having a block chain wallet doesnt matter on solo mining does it?

Total noob here Huh

How much hash rental are in each group?

i want in on the 1+Ph group

agreed! I'm thinking about putting up 8-9 BTC toward 3 Ph or so maybe I'll start a group up for that if anyone wants in.

let me know if you start a 1+Ph pool buckeyez

as long as a device has enough energy to submit a single share, how fast other pools operate is irrelevant.
an s3 statistically has a 1:16245 chance of solving a block per day at the current difficulty.
1PH = 1:7
2.2G = 1:2,865,671
powerball ticket = 1:292,201,338

If this is true-and-accurate, then you sir have delivered the best news I heard this year .. cheers.  Would 3.5 PHs give you a 50/50 chance, to hit within a 24 hour period?

if waiting 2 million days for a decent chance to solve a block cheers you up with 2.2G, i'm glad to have helped.
most sane people avoid the lottery  Cool

edit: re: 3.5PHs maybe.   Will 7PH give you 100%, no.   Over a period of time it will be 1 a day.  some days sooner some days not.

Welp.. here's hoping that the difficulty plummets after halving, because the cloud mining operations and massive pools all croak, and no more hardware is made .. so we old bastids can dust off our Butterfly Labs chit and make some coins when BTC is at $700 per Smiley

When will halving probably begin?

my speed is 130Mb down and 5Mb up.  is it best to have them all going out? or setup a node?
