I spent them all the same week that I bought them. I try to have no regrets in this life but that makes it difficult.

Even if it takes five hours that's almost $25 an hour. Sounds good to me.

May I please reserve episode 48?

And out of curiosity, those of you who have done some episodes, about how long did it take you? Say, for a one-hour episode, could you do it in two hours?

I type comfortably at 75wpm and I've hit 94wpm in a one-minute long typing speed test, I think I ought to be able to make this profitable.

Hey Folks, we'll be setting up on Monday, just a reminder, if you want to buy a Christmas Tree, you know where to get it.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving and hope to see at least a few of you show up to buy trees!

85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin distribution vs Bitcoin adoption on: November 22, 2013, 03:47:27 AM
Can you really beleive they will say "ok, 60% of the coins are already gone, but I'll be happy with 0.6x0.01"

This is so foolish. It's not "60% of the coins are already gone" it's "60% of the coins have already been mined."

It's like saying you shouldn't buy gold because most of the gold has already been mined--it's just false. Maybe you shouldn't go pan for gold if the river has already been panned out, but that doesn't have anything to do with whether you should buy gold or not.

Same with coins. How many have been mined or haven't doesn't influence whether or not you should buy them, only whether or not you should try to mine them. And mining's not the point, it's the means to an end--it's just to get the coins into existence, from there on out they can get distributed by other mechanisms like commerce and speculative trading.

Bitcoins need to be distributed somehow and it comes with a lot of risk for the early adopers just like all new technologies. High risk / High reward. I don't see any problem with this. Tons of people are still not ready to jump in the bitcoin bandwagon just because they don't want to take any risk and are simply waiting for the system to proves that it works in the long run. Low risk / low return. It's a choice that anybody is free to take.

Absolutely correct.
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My letter to my U.S. Senators regarding Bitcoin on: November 22, 2013, 03:02:44 AM

I agree that the U.S. government does not perfectly represent the interests of all nearly any of its citizens equally at all. but it's the best thing we've got now,

...

FTFY.

...like it or not, it decides what is legal tender for transactions with itself, and to a large degree, between private individuals.  Therefore it must establish some policy with regards to virtual currency, which is why there are Senate hearings now.  The only remaining question is, what policy will it establish?

You're way overestimating the influence that government will have over  virtual currency. They could not stop it if they tried. They'll likely not have much luck attempting to restrain it at all. Eventually, it will erode the power structure from beneath their feet until they are completely impotent. Somewhere along the line they may try to stop it or change its course but they will surely fail.

It can choose to accept Bitcoin as legal tender.  Then it will have essentially pre-assigned a large amount of the currency to those people who created bitcoin or heard about it early, which is a very, very small fraction of the U.S. population.  That just seems inherently unfair to me.   I think it's much better to act on behalf of all citizens - which is the point of the government, isn't it - and ensure the fairest possible scheme from the outset.  Hence my proposal.

You just don't get fairness.

Bitcoin has leveled the playing field.

What's not fair is a monopoly game where one guy has a copy machine and can just print off as much play money as he needs.

What's fair is a monopoly game where somebody got a lucky chance at the start of the game to buy the most valuable properties, recognized that chance, took it, and won the game.

So don't whine about how somebody already bought all the best properties and say you think we should distribute them all equally, or quit the game moaning about how it's not fair, instead thank the guy, because he just kicked out the asshole with the copy machine, and there are still some good properties left, so hell, you might get second or third place.

By the way, your letter to the senator made my stomach curl and my face scrunch up in ugly expressions of distaste. I had to restrain my imagination for I surely would have vomited if I had actually visualized the senator reading it. If I had attempted to imagine that I was the senator and read it from his perspective, mentally modeling what his thoughts and reactions might be, I would surely suffer from cardiac arrest from the sheer obscene vulgarity of leading my imagination to such filthy corners of the world. I dare not even imagine what would become of me if I attempted to put myself in your shoes and imagine what a horribly twisted, incoherent world-view would lead one to write the phrases and have the ideas that you have put forth in that letter.

In conclusion I would like to say that while there is a ever-so-slight chance that your logical faculties are functioning, you are clearly operating with one or more faulty premise. Possibly a great many of them.

I got this error:

168UxAWhZav6a2ZgttbBJRAaEBpcdqTYy6    2013-11-06 05:35:35    red    0.006    INVALID (too large)    0.006

Please advise
As the "too large" suggest, the amount you've bet is above the current maximum for red. Have a look at the MIN/MAX on the right of the game area!
You can check the "How To" section of the Menu, it is explained there, too.

Thanks Smiley I figured it out a few minutes later.

I got excited last night and almost wasted away my life savings, though now I've got most of it back. Of course my life savings is less than two BTC, but hey, I still would hate to lose it.

I was extra-scared for a while because I was betting too fast, and so somehow it wound up looking like I had lost far more than I really had, because the money I'd sent was gone from my wallet but the winnings hadn't yet been sent back.. I think I understand the concept of what happened though I'm not finding the words very well at the moment, but I guess it was the new bets couldn't be processed until the payouts from the previous bets had been confirmed.

I used to get topup codes for Virgin mobile prepaid cell service for a 6% discount using bitcoins over credit, but Virgin sold out the US brand to Sprint and that changed.  So I can't really offer you a current example, but it sounds to me that there is a profit opprotunity there.  Become the online shoe salesman that accepts bitcoin.

96  Economy / Service Discussion / Help me find some nice examples... on: November 03, 2013, 12:32:25 AM
I'm trying to find some nice examples of X:

"The cheapest you can buy X online and pay with your credit card is > the cheapest you can buy X online with bitcoin."

Specifically, I'm looking for physical goods, not digital.

Theory being, people like to save money, and I'd like to be able to show people, "look! You can buy this with bitcoin and pay less!"

I went looking and had a hard time finding good examples. What gave me the idea was my sister posting something on facebook about buying shoes for her kids on Amazon. My first thought was, "let me see if there's anybody selling shoes for bitcoin at better prices," but I couldn't find any (they don't seem to have any shoes at bitcoinshop.us, I didn't really look much farther than that). But that led me to this more general inquiry.

Any specific examples where the savings are notable?
97  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Is Better Than Voting on: November 01, 2013, 10:43:53 PM
The best way to vote has always been with your dollars money and real action. Historically, gold has been the best money available, however now bitcoin has taken that place.

FTFY.
98  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Is Better Than Voting on: October 31, 2013, 07:02:02 AM
In my opinion, the only vote that counts is the vote you make with your wallet. And if it's a bitcoin wallet, you're voting the right way already.

Traditional ballot voting is just a sham to keep the sheep quiet by providing the illusion that those in power actually give a shit what you think.

How much will you charge for shipping? If it costs too much people will just go out to buy one (since you can buy them everywhere).
Shipping via flying reindeer is free. If you want it delivered down your chimney, you will have to pay extra.
This. So much win..

Also why the bad design? Have you tried WordPress or other CMS?

Delivery and setup are free within our delivery area (Manhattan).

Bad design, well, I haven't made a website since I was about 14, and I threw this one together in about 45 minutes.. I will check out wordpress perhaps it will be a little easier to use.

Thanks for the feedback folks.
