I'm using this account as well, to confirm that I do indeed have my account back. It took a while but I succeeded!

Signed messages are valid.

@OP - I have tagged your account with a temporary negative rating until such time as you regain access to it.

Once you do, shoot me a PM from both this account, the hacked account, along with a link to this thread, and I will happily remove the rating.

Cheers

Thank you sir, I will send you a PM right away. Smiley

It's been 7 months hope you will get your account back.

I think you should sing the message in a format requested by Theymos here

Quote
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
My account <account> has been hacked/lost. Please reset the email to <email>. The current date is <date>.
-----BEGIN SIGNATURE-----
<insert address here>
<insert signature here>
-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Here is the unedited post where I posted that address: ...
OR
I sent that address to someone in a PM with PM ID#...

Edit: From the title at first I thought bitcointalk.org was hacked, "My bitcointalk account was hacked!" would be much better.

I did send a PM in that format, I hope I get assistance soon. I mistyped the title, I know it looks bad.

And now someone (perhaps the hacker) tried to phish my blockchain.info details by sending an e-mail. Stupid stuff. Roll Eyes

My bitcointalk account "SwingFirst" has been hacked, and whoever controls my account has enrolled in the CyberTrust signature campaign.

I would appreciate if you kick the person off this campaign. Thanks for your consideration!

Hello,

Sorry for your hack, but you should get back your account quickly with the signature ( he probably changed the mail and if he did you received a mail asking you if you wanna block your account, you Can do it to prevent him to use it Until you Get it back) , good luck!

I removed him from the bounty

Hello and thanks for helping me out. I have sent a signed message to the bitcointalk admin, but I haven't gotten my account back yet.

True, only this forum has these rules.
Other forum has 2fa and email security.

A Bitcoin address effectively can act as 2 factor authentication. If you remember posting a Bitcoin address then you could sign the address and provide that information to theymos. If the hacker has changed the post that contained the address, then theymos will likely be able to see the post history. Basically, check the post history or try to remember any time you posted an address and tell him about it and provide a signed message. Even if you have sent the address via personal message you can tell him about it and he'll be able to find it. I believe I remember reading a post by theymos years back that he will ignore any messages which do not contain the information described above.

Found the link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0

Awesome. Follow the above link to the letter and wait patiently. I see you did this but posted it publicly and assume you did the same in the personal message to theymos. If that is the case you should just wait. Make sure that it's correct and has the information though. Wait a week and just message him again. He has many messages per week, and the inbox is rather messy and one message can easily be overlooked so sending him a reminder in a week should be okay.

Wait, why bitcointalk.to? It's .org, not .to.

Hello! I did send a signed message to theymos in a PM, but I didn't do it in the exact same format he requested. I use blockchain.info and I made separate lines for address, message and signature, like this:

Address:
Code:
X

Message:
Code:
X

Signature:
Code:
X

I hope it's acceptable. Otherwise I'll reformat it so it looks like this:

Code:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
My account <account> has been hacked/lost. Please reset the email to <email>. The current date is <date>.
-----BEGIN SIGNATURE-----
<insert address here>
<insert signature here>
-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

and try again.

Why do you think that many people retrieved their hacked accounts ?
any evidence to this statement ?
i don't think that it's to easy. most people don't retrieve it imo.

unless you stacked your adress and you will be able to retrieve it.
read more here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.0

What are you even trying to say? I didn't say I think many people retrieved their hacked account, I was asking that.

I did stake my address over two years ago: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.msg12174323#msg12174323

My account that I've been using since 2013 was recently hacked: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2212151

I have sent a PM to theymos with a signed message for verification, but he hasn't responded yet. Now, it's only been four days and he's probably been busy, but it makes me a little bit worried that he might have missed my PM. I don't want to nag him and send another PM either.

How many here successfully retrieved their hacked accounts? How long did it take?

Thanks Smiley

Hi . İ didnt hack the account. İ bought 0.1 Btc.

It doesn't matter, it belongs to me and I'm having it back.

If you give me the money, I will give your account.

That's not happening. I can prove that the account is mine by signing a message. I have contacted admin, and I'll have it back for free.

I have a Twitter account: SwingFirstBTCT

Back in March I tweeted that the twitter account belongs to SwingFirst on bitcointalk, along with a signed message from the previously known bitcoin address in post #1 of this thread.

The hacker seems to have gotten control of my account on September 19th. I can still access my e-mail address swingfirst@airmail.cc.

The hacker didn't change the e-mail right away, because I can see the e-mails from the forum about private messages, and I can see that the hacker tried to make deals with other users, using my account "SwingFirst".

Below is all the e-mails with the PM's I received from bitcointalk. I censored the info about the senders. Sorry if it's a wall of text.

oh, sorry, i didnt know you were expecting my reponse as your message said that if i was interested I should directly send the payment.

I appreciate the offer, but I previously had a bad experience sending the money first with no guarantees, it was not in this forum, but I lost quite bit in that transaction. So my condition is to receive the coins first.

I didnt agree with your terms because i didnt trust you (I dont care what rank you are), you were the one insisting for me to send the bitcoins after I didnt respond anymore.

Please, send a message to admin and he will deal with this. Im a "newbie" because I registered the other day, that does not make me a scammer

Update 2019-04-09: The account has been recovered!

My bitcointalk account "SwingFirst" was has been hacked.

Link to my HACKED account: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=147307

I staked my bitcoin address back in August 2015 on my (now hacked) SwingFirst account:
Bitcointalk link
WayBackMachine link
So the bitcoin address I control is: 1LQVvaqnbxTekscDbBboAARwEySorNksaW

The earliest bitcoin address mentioned in my post history can be found here:
Bitcointalk link
WayBackMachine link
So this means that I also control the following bitcoin address: 1DNwZfpCYkmPP82xty7HThv9ngadjQa2T2

I still hold the private keys to those two addresses, and below are two signed messages with both of the addresses.

Address:

Message:

I would appreciate any help in getting my account back. I can sign a custom message with my bitcoin keys as well if needed for further validation.

I would appreciate if some of you leave negative trust on the hacked SwingFirst profile, to deter any eventual scam attempts by the person who has my account. Thank you so much!

I'll pay the loan back in approximately an hour or so. xinzark, is it okay with you if I pay $20 up front, and the remaining $15 after I've received my collateral? Smiley

Did you hand over the collateral after taking the 15$ first ? then why do you hesitate to go first now.
No, I didn't hand over the collateral after taking $15 first. This is just a safety measure I would like to use if xinzark is okay with it. If he says no I will just send the whole amount. Smiley
