it is my moral duty to point out scams which hurt the noble ideology of decentralized crypto

no one care about your get rich scam

Please speak for yourself.

That article posted by CfB makes IOTA infinitely more interesting. If IOTA's tangle works, it could well be the future of crypto.

I got 100 000 IOTA for 0.25 Bitcoin

Are you sure? You should have gotten a lot more than 100000 IOTA for 0.25 BTC. It should be more like 180000 - 200000 IOTA.

@Come-from-Beyond

Why don't you organize voting inside NXT, it will be helpful. I know you can fairly easily distribute virtual IOTA token as asset or NXT currency Smiley.

For those of you who are afraid of installing another wallet good news is that you don't need to. You can create your NXT address trough any public node (wallet) with "open API": http://www.peerexplorer.com/nodes. After you choose your node next step is to click on "Action: Open Wallet GUI". You will end up on something like these: http://62.194.6.113:7876/index.html

You only need 1 NXT for voting. you can get 4 NXT on these faucet: http://www.nxtinfo.org/nxt-faucet/

Not sure if that whole exercise would be necessary seeing as the verdict seems to be pretty clear here.

Hey, guys and gals. I'd like to get your feedback on the following:

In it's current implementation Iota's ledger is based on inputs and outputs like Bitcoin. There is another way - balances of accounts like in Nxt and Ethereum.

Now I see that if Iota used the latter it would be more efficient because:
1. No need to send the change back to myself which makes the tangle smaller
2. A lot of dust inputs could be spent with a single payment and this would be more secure because every address reuse leaks the private key
3. A new address wouldn't be needed for every incoming payment (this would make acceptance of Iota donations simple, in the current design it's PITA for humans)
4. Off-tangle payments would become simpler
5. RAM requirement for full nodes would be relaxed

The only problem that might arise in balance-based Iota is worse consensus convergence, but after analyzing the issue I don't see what could break.

I'm thinking if it's worth to do a little redesign that could take few days of extra work...

I have no issues with delays at all as long as it is for the betterment if IOTA.

How about an unmoderated forum as a use case? Every user that makes a post has to put in an IOTA 'deposit'. If the post gets flagged as spam by too many people, the deposit doesn't get refunded. If not, the deposit is refunded and since IOTA has zero fees, the poster has no loss. I guess it can be extended to anything that can be spammed.

108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Searching for High Staking Coins with market cap below USD 500'000 on: February 04, 2016, 12:26:08 PM
I know neucoin has high staking rewards. I think 100%, not sure though.

But you do realize that high staking rewards only means high inflation rates and therefore your coins aren't increasing in value though they do increase in number, right?
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA Crowdsale on: February 01, 2016, 12:27:56 PM
the site should be updated with new instructions to contact cfb, no?

It definitely should. I don't know how anyone can argue otherwise.

EDIT: That being said, I can understand why it is not a priority. Someone who has invested will somehow finally figure out things as it is to his own benefit. What is more important is the beta testing and the subsequent mainnet release. Plus, most IOTA investors have collected already and for those that still haven't, it probably serves them right to run around a bit to collect them Tongue
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA Crowdsale on: January 29, 2016, 04:44:19 PM
Okay, thanks.  Assuming we can still generate while disconnected?  My other question; will new accounts created today be valid or do you plan a genesis reset after testing?

With high chance we'll use this genesis and transactions sent during testing in the mainnet.

oh..does that mean if I send some coins from my wallet to some other wallet in the testnet, the same will reflect in the mainnet too?

I hope that isn't a malicious link.

Don't click on it. The user have a bad reputation and it's a newbie account. The chance that this is a malicious link are high.

I hope it is not. I clicked on it and realized I shouldn't have later. I do have bitdefender and malwarebytes running though and they didnt pick anything.

Will there be another crowdsale with the unclaimed iotas
Hachoir, I think here can you find the answer to your question.

That was undecided at this stage

I would not count on any Iota going unclaimed, even if there is a small amount, it will most likely go toward bounties and development, not another crowdsale.  The only way to buy Iota at this point will be on exchange or otc

A crowdsale wouldn't make much sense either as it would already be on exchanges by the time the claiming period ends.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA Crowdsale on: January 24, 2016, 12:51:56 PM
No guarantee that it will be on an exchange after the launch. Maybe we are going to wait more than 1 months to have at least 1 exchange that accept IOTA ( It's new tech, exchange need time to adapt their structure to it )

Or it might be sooner as exchanges might want to get a share of the prospectively huge early trading volumes.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA Crowdsale on: January 21, 2016, 03:14:16 PM
So the magic number is 860134. I wonder what forbes will write about this number in two years.

I think the magic number is 1337, the total number of BTCs the crowdsale raised when the bonus percentages are also factored in.

How awesome that the number is 1337 (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=1337)

Maybe it is an indication of things to come  Smiley

Cordially,

There was no email saying hey you can claim your IOTA's here

I guess you are right. An email might speed things up. Of course, the purchaser should have subscribed for notifications but I suppose most of them should be subscribed.

There ain't no need in betting.

120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA Crowdsale on: January 02, 2016, 02:19:12 AM

haha..looks like a really really late presale buyer. I guess his purchase will fall under the -100% bonus phase Smiley
