P.S. - My cable connection seems fine now that the OS install (the bandwidth-need part of this process) is done... figures.

So it usually goes, eh?

At least you have the mifi to use, imagine where you'd be if you didn't ... server coughing, no home net ...  sounds like a test in frustration.  Thanks for the many and detailed updates, and easily accessed info, it's one reason I've stuck with this pool since I started, your efforts are not going unnoticed.  Edit: Have .03 BTC for your unending efforts.  You deserve as much.

You must have been mining on that address a LONG time, cause mine went up 4% from 92 to 96

Thanks for the info ... was just starting to wonder why it said .13BTC for a loooong while when the blocks are coming in at 3-4 per hour.  I should have had almost two or three of my usual daily payouts today alone I think.

Unshelf those shares! Cheesy

Is there an issue with the signed messages to change options?  I've tried signing messages with standard bitcoin-qt, but the signature always fails.  I made sure I was using the right address, and the right message, and they verify in bitcoin-qt.  Is there something I am missing?  I tried adding my namecoin address several times to no avail, once including, once excluding minimum diff 16, and once including and once excluding a nickname.  I can't think of anything that might be happening incorrectly.  Am I supposed to paste the signature a certain way, rather than just pasting the text string?  (i.e: using "" or sig="" or something?)

Thanks for any help,

Van

Does this mean that people with hp7 that find blocks are effectively at difficulty 10?

That would certainly explain my long dryspell...
47  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ["WAIT LIST"] BFL SC Pre-Order Information on: July 24, 2013, 04:32:04 AM
I have two later orders that might be added to this list:

#100020980 Paid on 3/9/13 : 1 Jalapeno 4.5GH

#100021471 Paid on 3/11/13 : 1 Little Single 30GH, and 1 Single 60GH [on one order]

Obviously neither have shipped, since they are from March, but meh, this list seems more reliable than others.

I don't see why primecoin is a hoax ... I think it is more likely to keep it's value, largely because it's main purpose is not really to keep value.  People like it because it happens to make money sure ... but I think it is likely to remain a prevalent coin for a long time based on it's knack for breaking records in mathematics.

I might be biased since I am a math guy, and this is the kind of stuff I research, but at the very least it'll always have network security from the academic sector, in my opinion.

I was surprised that it ran a close second to LTC, though.

I agree that PPS seems to be untranslatable.   An intel system with 5000 PPS I had produced one block in all of it's four days running, while another AMD system which also said 5000 PPS but finds a block every 6 hours or so, though it is now dry for 14 hours. Edit: found one right after posting this.

I think it is statistically unlikely that the one system ran the same as the other, yet in four days one found a single block and the other found twenty-two.  Both systems were started within minutes of each other, and updated to the latest mikaelh release immediately, with same sievesizes on hp3 and hp4.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] BFGMiner Prime Branch on: July 18, 2013, 12:43:49 PM
has anyone been able to find a XPM block with bfgminer?

Bump x2, also interested.

Bump x3, though i imagine the coders are all asleep atm.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 18, 2013, 12:12:01 PM
Jesus Christ.

I posted the previous post before reading more than a few pages of this thread ... now I wonder how the hell I thought you had any promise at all last I talked to you.

Vlad, I seriously suggest removing yourself from bitcointalk before you do yourself any further psychological damage.  You're going to be eaten alive here from now on.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 18, 2013, 12:04:00 PM
Mate, what are you on about?  You seemed to have a promising ideal a week ago, but this is deeply troubling.

You have made many statements about how you would like to make a coin that lasts, and is a miner's coin, and I seem to remember you asking in a thread maybe a week ago whether you thought SHA256 or Scrypt was better.  I said that you can't just bring a coin to market on scrypt or sha256 and expect it to do well without some kind of completely new something that gives it some kind of value or edge over competition.

I really want to know.  How long exactly did you spend getting this coin to market then?  A few days?

If you really want to build something successful, and something that lasts, that benefits miners, actually do some research beyond asking a few questions on a forum and suddenly cloning a coin with a few variations on things that already exist.

Also what should matter to you is not that you tell your life story to the people who you want to attractto the coin to make it successful.  If you think that because you named the Vlad superblock, that it will suddenly become the "iPod" of superblocks because you gave it a name, then you are sorely mistaken.

If you think a great coin can be put together in a few days and become popular because you put your name on it, your ego is much too inflated.

You had some neat ideas it seemed like when we spoke, but this appears to be an attempt to start a clone of what has already been done, with no effort put forward to actually meet any of the goals you claimed to have when you set your idea out there.  It really looks like you thought you would have a great get rich quick scheme, that you could dump into an exchange.

The quality of what you have done here leads me to believe it was nothing more than a glorious facade on a con.  It's a laughingstock, man.

I finally turned my intels off ... but I'm leaving one either lucky / great cpu running for kicks.

The one AMD Phenom II 1100T has netted me $300 alone, my sandy bridge i7s got me a whopping 15$ each, and a i5-3570k brought in a measly $25, not to mention this laptop, which somehow grabbed a block with its A8 ... net power usage can't have been $10 overall, since it's only been days, and the AMD is on anyhow running my LTC rig, so its hardly added to power, yet brought in loads of XPM

Yay 1$/XPM.  I made a killing this week compared to LTC.  I wonder where the bubble will pop.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 17, 2013, 12:58:01 PM
Can anyone tell me how to read the primemeter lines in debug.log? What do the three values, prime/h, test/h, and 5-chains/h measure and which one is the best performance indicator?

Mikaelh said that 5-chains/h is the best measure of performance since 5-chains/h is more on par with the 8-chains [soon to be 9-chains] that we are mining to find blocks.

prime/h = 1-chains and he said test/h doesn't give much info at all.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 14, 2013, 08:41:37 PM
Block reward has gone down to 13. Thats a sharp decrease.
primecoind getdifficulty
8.65543556
Rising fast. Shocked

Yup, looks like everyone's getting in some cpu mining / loads of digitalocean accounts and amazon accounts firing up.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 14, 2013, 08:40:00 PM
for windows just run it like this:
primecoin-qt.exe -sievesize=2000000

conf file don`t work for me

I found the opposite on win7 and win8 .... conf worked, but batchfile primecoin.qt.exe -sievesize=2000000 still showed 1000000 in debug.log

Once I had sievesize=2000000 in conf it did work.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 14, 2013, 06:22:23 PM
@mikaelh
I presume you can`t do AVX2 optimization, or primecoin can not benefit from it?
pooler did AVX2 optimization on cpuminer and gain is ~90% with haswell

This is about primes, not about hashes.

On my A8 my PPS actually rose rather then fell with sievesize=2000000 in the conf, though it rose very minimally, which makes me wonder if it does anything at all.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 14, 2013, 06:07:37 PM
Does the sievesize trigger work with "primecoin-qt.exe -sievesize=###"?

I tried and it didn't throw up, but that doesn't mean it worked either.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 14, 2013, 11:38:10 AM
URGENT!!!!!

Has anyone else just seen a 25% drop in PPS?  I'm getting this on every single machine/VPS I have running.  Happened in the last 30 mins.  Perhaps due to the >8.0 diff increase?

Quote
~$ primecoind getdifficulty
8.02573842

Yes pps dropped even more than 25% on my rigs.
Yes down from 6143 to 4208

same drop here..

Same here, but I've gotten two blocks since the drop, which seems luckier.  I wonder how the difficulty gets calculated if not by PPS.  Because a network wide PPS drop you would expect a diff drop too. I derped, per Aggro's post below.

Edit: in another thought, the difference in diff rise between releases of hp1 and hp2 indicates clearly that hp2 is doing better.

My PPS on linux are back to normal. But the one on windows, it still x10 PPS. How about yours everyone?

My i7-860 Win8-64 stayed about the same, but the rest went down about 10-20% still 10x the 1.1 though (all Win7-64)
