161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help cheaper in bitcoins get some capital on: September 20, 2011, 11:25:28 PM
Question for Littleshop ...

Have you previously contacted cheaper in bitcoins regarding this order issue ?

When ?

What response have you received to date ?

Are you ever going to ship my order?
162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Publicly traded mining business? on: September 20, 2011, 11:20:48 PM
If you produce a professional quality business plan for this, such as I would expect from a "real world" investment opportunity, which demonstrates to me you are serious and competent, I pledge to match whatever Peter L initially invests in you up to the BTC equivalent of £250.

If you deliver ~10% annual return over the first 6 months of operation, I'll double my investment. If you deliver ~10% annual return over the next 6 months, I'll double my investment again.

I want Bitcoin to succeed and I will put my hard earned money where my mouth is.

If you can offer me three verifiable examples of your solid reputation via sites such as Ebay etc ... I will double the investment pledges made above.

Feel free to PM me.

163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Largest Bitcoin Scam of Them All? on: September 20, 2011, 10:58:31 PM
That is a whole lot of judgement for someone who doesn't have the courage of conviction to put their name to the piece.

Any chance GLBSE or any of the companies slandered get to face their accuser ?

Or is identification just something the author feels they can demand of others but not demonstrate of themselves ?

164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Largest Bitcoin Scam of Them All? on: September 20, 2011, 10:44:00 PM
*** There is absolutely nothing stopping you from creating a competing stock exchange !!! ***

In fact, if you do and it is as functional as GLBSE is right now, I personally pledge to invest £1000 across the companies listed on it and test it for you for free, once it has run for the same period of time that GLBSE has to this date.

I pledge to repeat this for each further year it continues to run.

Crack on or quit your jibber jabber.

hmm how about at a minimum:

The 'Companies' must follow generally accepted accounting standards. Have you seen how these 'Companies' are reporting their earnings? Did the people complete 6th grade math?

Have an independent Board of Directors

A minimum stock price set before delisting

Full contact information for the responsible party. Asshat776@gmail.com isn't full contact info.

Must respond to information requests in a timely manner.

An audit committee so what the 'owner' is saying is true. A picture of your bedroom isn't sufficient.

A report must be filed - in Bitcoin timelines, this should probaly be weekly.

Sufficient working capital for at least 6 months.

Public float - At least x% of shares must be owned by the public.

An audit committe for GLBSE to enforce standards.
165  Economy / Marketplace / Re: SkepsiDyne Integrated Node - The Bitcoin Mining Company on: September 20, 2011, 02:40:54 PM
We are paying him plenty to do exactly that.

He is taking the piss.

That's what I said. "invalid data". I was implicitly asking for confirmation from anyone running 5830s.

1. Buy quality parts. 60% efficient power supplies are stupid.
2. Plug system into Killawatt meter.
3. Use latest mining software and optimize hashing parameters.
4. Overclock core speed and underclock memory speed.
5. Keep fans clean so nothing overheats.

There's no rocket science here. Just basic mining optimizations that any half-decent miner would do.

So we can deduct Tawsix is not doing any of this if he claims he is losing money.

If Tawsix was running his rigs efficiently, I would not have too much trouble with him wishing to keep the specifics of the rigs secret, but if he fails to run the rigs profitably (may need to mine at night), he is failing the shareholders and needs to explain in detail why it is not profitable.

If Tawsix is unable or unwilling to operate and upkeep the rigs, he should consider hiring or contracting help. I believe that we still have possible IPO shares that could be put back on the market, invade we need more funds to be profitable again.

P.S. Tawsix needs to clarify and/or explain his actions about pulling in half of the profits, yet not matching the funds brought in by the IPO.

this is exactly why 10pages back i wanted him to post what the rigs consistented of but noone else supported me. the rigs are either running super inefficiently or he is skimming bitcoins off claiming its all being paid to energy costs. Now i dont believe it is in the latter in this case so he if posted the rigs we could help him make them more efficient.
166  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Print Shop on: September 20, 2011, 07:16:44 AM
... delivery was cheap enough. I suspect this means smaller shops every couple of hundred miles.
167  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [GLBSE Alert] Announcement on: September 20, 2011, 07:07:45 AM
Sure. I'll add that next.

Any way to get a "digest" instead of instant notifications? (Summary of day at end of day?) Better for those who simply like to observe and report, IMO.
168  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [GLBSE Alert] Announcement on: September 19, 2011, 10:03:06 PM
Okey dokey.

I'll investigate tomorrow.

Actually, when I pulled the email up on my phone, each character was separated by three boxes. I thought it might just be the phone, so I pulled the email up on a windows computer, where I got the euro signs. Also get euros on my mac.

169  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [GLBSE Alert] Announcement on: September 19, 2011, 09:33:51 PM
Probably some sort of encoding mismatch.

What OS and release are you on and what browser / email client are you using ?

Also, what encoding is your OS set to ?

Got this from you today:

Quote
T€€€h€€€e€€€ €€€f€€€o€€€l€€€l€€€o€€€w€€€i€€€n€€€g€€€ €€€n€€€e€€€w€€€
€€€s€€€h€€€a€€€r€€€e€€€s€€€ €€€w€€€e€€€r€€€e€€€ €€€l€€€i€€€s€€€t€€€e€€€d€€€
€€€o€€€n€€€ €€€G€€€L€€€B€€€S€€€E€€€ €€€.€€€.€€€.€€€

That was just the first few lines, it continues for a whole page. Is there a reason each character is separated by three euro signs?
170  Economy / Services / Re: [GLBSE] BitCoinTorrentz.com - Torrent Download Service on: September 19, 2011, 11:21:22 AM
I reckon go with leaving that "functionality" for now and see what usage it gets, verses usage by the one registered user - consider it the "first one's free" method of advertising. Once they are hooked, they may well acquire their own account, to obtain the more (ahem) questionable content - i.e. their own personal tastes in porn.
171  Economy / Services / Re: [GLBSE] BitCoinTorrentz.com - Torrent Download Service on: September 18, 2011, 09:21:42 AM
For me, the frequent and informative communication through that spreadsheet was a key reason for my initial and subsequent investment,

As a mining company I think the effort of daily communication and div payout is necessary.

Once this company is sufficiently developed I would be happy with say five times the content every two weeks.

What are other investors thoughts on this?

Ok I'll change that, sorry.

As far as keeping your shareholders up to date, you can make a google spreadsheet like I did and shareholders can check in on everything with a link.  It keeps my brain straight and everyone elses.  Here is mine. I update every day, but I'm sure you can update whenever you want.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvdHbho4OHt9dFVTVHFUNFVvNFZyc2E5eERPeFd2Y1E&hl=en_US#gid=0
?

It's so weird you suggested that.

I was having a look at smokey mountain mining and saw the link to your finances spreadsheet at the top. I thought it would be a good idea to do something similar for my site. Then you suggested it, literally about an hour later.

I love the transparency of it, and your info/comments are so detailed. I especially like the comment on row 25! Smiley
You clearly run a tight ship! Fantastic work.

You update that spreadsheet daily? That seems like a lot of effort. I would prefer to have a financial statistics page integrated into my site directly so that I could automate a lot of the work of adding entries that way, without having to manually edit it every day. I might follow a similar format to yours, but do it via html/php and mysql queries instead.

Interesting...

the only reason i update daily is because I pay out daily. Smiley

Fantastic response so far. Many more subscribers than I had expected. :O)

LOL

No pun intended? ;0)

Ive heard the guys at http://lmptfy.com like your idea too.   Wink

Your referral program needs some banners.  Smiley

Yeah, I'm working on the banner thing, but I'm not a graphic designer. So for, I've got:

and

Undecided They need a bit of work...

I am a shareholder.  Do you think it would be possible to share one of your banners, because helping you is helping me.

Cant you just copy the banner to your computer and upload it?

I could do that but I didn't create it so I thought it was best to ask.

Very interesting service.

I will be watching this thread closely before deciding on whether to invest or not.

I am ready to make further investment in IBB. Before doing so I want more information, in the form of roadmaps for the "joint ventures".
177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [GLBSE Alert] Announcement on: September 11, 2011, 01:31:50 PM
Announcing GLBSE Alert

This is a new beta service which will alert you via email to events which take place in GLBSE.

The first event option is to be alerted when a new asset is listed on GLBSE.

This will save you trawling through the Twitter feed for trade or sell tweets for new assets or remembering to check BitcoinCharts regularly.

I built the service for my own use but believe there is value in making it available to other users of GLBSE.

You will receive an email alert with simple content similar to the following ...

---------------------------------------------------------
The following new shares were listed on GLBSE ...
    SDM

Trading details of newly listed shares ...

    Asset : SDM
    Issues : 10000
    Issues on sale : 3886 (38.86%)
    Min ask : 9900000
    Max bid : 4000000
    Last trade : 4000000
---------------------------------------------------------

I have plans to increase the range/style of alerts you can receive, combining various conditions to decide whether to alert, and increase the capacity of the service, if there is sufficient demand.

This service is provided completely independently of GLBSE. I have no access to the GLBSE user database and have no way to correlate GLBSE user activities to email addresses. Your activities on GLBSE remain completely anonymous.

I hope this service can help in some small way to stimulate usage of GLBSE, trading in GLBSE listed assets and transacting in Bitcoins.

To subscribe to this service simply send an email to glbsealertemails+subscribe.newasset@gmail.com

Please use this topic to discuss this service further - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=42454.0
178  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [GLBSE Alert] Announcement on: September 11, 2011, 01:29:39 PM
I've not decided on what I will keep the polling period at yet, still experimenting.

Once a day is far too long in my opinion - potentially that would mean an alert wouldn't be triggered for an asset until just under 24 hours after it was listed.

At the moment it is every 10 minutes, which I think is a reasonable level.

I do intend to take it down to seconds, to make other services I intend to provide more valuable - maybe this will mean a premium account payment for GLBSE (to support the extra server usage / traffic this would create) and consequently a premium account for this and the other services - very much TBD.

An alert goes out for the initial asset listing (with the long hex string) and an alert goes out for the ticker listing too - I may extend the service to give an option to ignore initial asset listing, if people want it - personally I want both alerts.

There can be trading activity for an asset within the up to 10 minute period before an alert goes out - I treat such activity as a good indication of the investment potential of the newly listed asset.

Excellent. They have now committed a crime.

Looks like the bitcointalk.org server is hosted in USA.

What's the US equivalent to the UK's Computer Misuse Act ?
