221  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Could this word to store a wallet key? on: November 22, 2012, 10:28:35 PM
I like the idea of a NFC device like this. I like the idea of it being all or nothing.

A 5BTC chip would show red for empty and green for full. It would also broadcast its public key and be willing to sign a challenge number to prove it really controls that key. That way you can check the balance of someone elses chip and confirm no trickery is going on.

It would also be able to sign a transaction of its full balance, but only if a switch or button is in the "spend" position.
222  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Passphrase-protected private key format BIP proposal (plus working code) on: November 22, 2012, 10:17:55 PM
Good idea to use salt. Looks sturdy.
223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SSL certificates are changing on Bitcoin websites on: November 22, 2012, 10:07:39 PM
Code:
apt-get install tor
apt-get install ettercap

Ettercap is a program that allows you to perform a man in the middle attack. It can do so by redirecting traffic or if you already are the gateway(such as with tor) then it can perform the attack wouthout needing to reroute.

It is capable of generating an ssl certificate on the fly and attempt to get you to connect to them. This will cause a browser warning that something is fishy, many ignore it.

I would not be suprised if someone was running a tor node just to attempt to steal wallet passwords.
224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Torrent freak news -Paypal Bans Usenet Providers Over Piracy Concerns on: November 22, 2012, 10:04:33 PM
I know some local herb dealers that accept bitcoin, they are not licensed though.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Idea for strippers: QR code on your ass on: November 22, 2012, 10:01:58 PM
Last time I took out my cellphone at a strip club they told me to put it away, cameras are not allowed. They would have to make an exception for QR codes on the ass.
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Torrent freak news -Paypal Bans Usenet Providers Over Piracy Concerns on: November 22, 2012, 10:00:25 PM
Paypal is the biggest headache I ever dealt with. I do not accept paypal any more.
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Bounty - 10 BTC] Help identify ANY address from the list on: November 22, 2012, 09:54:29 PM
They are from the Silk Road tumbler. Those be Dread Pirate Roberts coins! (just guessing)
228  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling silver dollar and silver quarters on: November 21, 2012, 06:23:23 PM
I'll pay 2.5BTC if you'll ship them first  Cool

I would also love to buy silver at less than melt value. If you figure out how let me know.

I really hate to send these old coins(old for a young guy like me) to the refinery, but I will not sell them for less than scrap value.

229  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If I find money in my mailbox … on: November 20, 2012, 05:34:28 PM
I would put an advert on this forum saying I got an unsolliceted transaction and that I will return it if refunded postage. After 90 days I would keep it.

You can't just force a deal on someone by sending them cash, I don't want to sell my bitcoins for any amount.
230  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling silver dollar and silver quarters on: November 20, 2012, 05:32:26 PM
I got so much response for the Philharmonic I sold, but no interest in this?

Don't people like good old Canadian silver? The math is easy, 0.6 troy oz per $1 face value.
231  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] OnionBC - Anonymous online wallet on: November 20, 2012, 05:20:02 PM
Sounds similar to TorWallet...  Shocked
232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A cunning ploy to get bars/pubs/clubs to accept bitcoin. on: November 20, 2012, 05:13:10 PM
It is sticky legal ground to use someone elses card and pin to buy stuff from your own bar. It also looks really sketchy to the IRS when you buy drinks from your own bar with your own debit card all the time.

I think there are actual payment providers that handle bitcoin for merhcents.

I do like the idea of using the card to run a tab after explaining that people are sending money to the card via bitcoins. Then mentioning later how easy they are to accept.

I don't think we have the critical mass of bitcoin users needed for it to be much more than a gimmick to draw in new customers at this point.
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The First San Diego Restaurant to Accept Bitcoin on: November 20, 2012, 05:08:58 PM
The thread title is a bit misleading. It looked like the announcement of a place that did accept bitcoins now.
234  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling 1oz 999+ Silver Philharmonic - 3BTC on: November 20, 2012, 04:54:57 PM
SOLD!

I might be interested. Can you post a picture?

I would, but I already sold it. I will post a picture for my next one.

What are the shipping costs? I'm in Hawaii.

The price included shipping to the US. Hawaii is included in the US as far as I am concerned.  Wink

If you'll ship it first, I have an established rep here and will take it for 3BTC including shipping to Canada, payment to be sent when the coin is received.

Let me know if you accept and I will PM you my shipping info.

Thx Smiley

I would have accepted that offer, but I have already accepted another offer. I have not been paid yet so if it falls through I will see if you are still interested.

236  Economy / Goods / Re: Portable DVD Player 10.2" Sis in law got hit by boyfriend, selling all his stuff on: November 19, 2012, 03:05:19 PM
Be aware that many US DVD players will not play UK dvds.
237  Economy / Goods / Re: Some Silver coins for sale on: November 18, 2012, 07:01:44 PM
Nice collection. I always bought what was cheapest and your collection makes mine look like a pile of crap.

But silver is silver, I hope.
238  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Hardware wallet wire protocol on: November 18, 2012, 06:15:55 PM
It should speak RS232. Almost all point of sale systems speak it and the usb bridges are ubiquitous.
239  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling silver dollar and silver quarters on: November 18, 2012, 06:04:41 PM
Sorry, I should have mentioned these are Canadian 80% silver coins.

Also since I am new here I will consider sending first if you can demonstrate a history of honest dealings.
