This information is not detailed enough... Is it a mineable coin or an ICO coin or Airdrop... or the developer just decided to premine and sell on the exchange? maybe a whitepaper can answer me correctly

You can find the whitepaper here: https://espers.io/download/Espers-White-Paper-v1-Final.pdf
I agree that it should be added to the ANN.

Is there a new wallet that has been released in the past 3 or 4 months? I'm having issues with my wallet not connecting and syncing.. I have not used it for the past couple months.

The problem is certainly not the wallet, nobody else is having issues. The latest version is v0.8.7.2.

Maybe take a look here: https://github.com/bitcoinx2/tutorials/wiki/Wallet-Connection-Guide

Is this coin still going? Alive? Any developement?

Yes of course! Development is ongoing, things just take some time.

Why do you insist on forking a shitcoin?

Spectrecoin is not a shitcoin. It is a project with low resources, like many other projects in this size range. The technology is good, the team is motivated. I'm sure Spectrecoin will not stay this small forever. So as XSPEC has a bright future, it also needs a wallet that gives freedom to the users. It's just a matter of principle. If Spectrecoin wants to fork to integrate fees into the protocol, we will maintain the current protocol. It depends on what the Spectrecoin team is doing mainly.

Will the SpectreCoin holders receive your coin?

I'm glad that you decided to improve SpectreCoin, as I am an investor. I think your project can achieve success.

If there is a fork, your wallet.dat will be valid on both chains and you can spend funds on both chains independently from then.
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Wisp Project [WISP] - SpectreCoin fork - Community driven - Anonymity on: June 18, 2018, 01:15:01 PM
It's important to understand how blockchain projects work. Forking or not forking is not a matter that does solely depend on a few people. It's a matter of consensus. We're just a group of people who have our own ideas and ideals of what Spectrecoin should be, and about how users should be treated. Whether a fork happens or not depends largely on the degree to which the official Spectrecoin team is trying to enforce development fees. This has nothing to do with our development effort or the size of the team, nor the size of the community. Right now there seem to be only a few people who see development fees as being a problem, but the situation might change in the future.

We're currently looking for a Qt developer who can spice up our copy of the Spectrecoin wallet a bit (changing logos etc.), but it doesn't really matter. What matters are the NODES that are run by the different parts of the Spectrecoin community, that run certain versions of the protocol.
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Wisp Project [WISP] - SpectreCoin fork - Community driven - Anonymity on: June 17, 2018, 06:50:18 AM
It looks like Spectrecoin is indeed going to implement forced development fees into the protocol: https://github.com/spectrecoin/spectre/pull/43

So that means, if this hardfork happens, Wisp would maintain the original SpectreCoin chain, so then there would be two independent chains. Wisp would be "Spectre Classic" so to say, as it is the version of the blockchain that does not change the protocol.

We believe that every user should have the freedom to decide on himself whether to donate money to a project or not. Nobody should be forced to give money away. Instead of hiring developers, Wisp is aiming to build a community of open source developers who work on improving the Wisp wallet.

If you are a developer, please join our Discord that is linked in the ANN.  Smiley

Better safe than sorry....

249  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / Re: Steuer auf Altcoins - Kompakte Einschätzung? on: June 14, 2018, 02:20:31 PM

250  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / Re: Steuer auf Altcoins - Kompakte Einschätzung? on: June 14, 2018, 01:31:54 PM

We do actually have a Discord server which can be found here.  Although we never got around to saying anything about it.  It was created months ago just prior to some initiatives we had cooked up.  There are no members but anyone is welcome to populate it, Doop will be there to answer any questions if any.

Thanks Doop aka. prurient. Everybody please join this Discord to discuss about the future of Titcoin!  Cool

Ya man, the last "WISP News" is complete bullshit and "technically incoherent"...
They simple do not even have the most basic Dev chops to do a trivial fork.

A "trivial fork" does not make any sense. A real blockchain fork is not something desirable, it is unfortunately necessary when there is a consensus disagreement within the community of users and developers of that project. For example when changing block sizes, making procedural protocol changes etc.. Many people have called for a fork even if they didn't know what it means. It always felt a little weird to me, and now I am happy that we were able to agree on going the rational path and not trying to split the blockchain artificially.

Instead, what is currently required is to provide an alternative to the wallet being produced by the official Spectrecoin team, since they are trying to force development fees from their users via the stake rewards, which is an alarming tendency. The Wisp Project now has a stronger foundation than ever, and we're continuing to develop Spectrecoin like originally envisioned. We hope that this alone will motivate the Spectrecoin team find more reasonable ways of collecting funding from their users, and we will always maintain the blockchain protocol that respects the freedom of its users.  Smiley
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Wisp Project [WISP] - SpectreCoin fork - Community driven - Anonymity on: June 04, 2018, 06:41:39 PM
Wisp News

I am happy to announce that we managed to refine our vision for Wisp and found a way to continue this project in a more reasonable technical manner! When this project started, we found that Wisp would need to split off of Spectrecoin because of incompatible development philosophies. The original plan was to fork the blockchain artificially, so that we would have our own blockchain (and with it our own "coin") to work with. Unfortunately this approach would have come at the cost of coherency, because from a technical point of view, a blockchain is only forked by a consensus disagreement, i.e. when different clients ("wallets") carry out incompatible protocols. By introducing an artificial incompatibility, we would continuously have to defend our right to exist, because technically it wouldn't be necessary.

For that reason, we decided on a better way to continue this project, that is technically coherent and still allows us to turn our vision of Wisp into reality. This idea may require some time to wrap your head around if you are new to cryptocurrencies, but actually makes a lot more sense. The idea is that we will consider Wisp to be an alternative wallet for Spectrecoin! That means that we will NOT fork the Spectrecoin blockchain artificially, and will NOT make a coin called WISP right now.

Instead, we will leave it an option to fork into an independent coin IF at some point in the future there will be a consensus disagreement, e.g. if the Spectrecoin team decides to integrate forced development fees into the protocol. In that case, a hardfork would occur, and Wisp would maintain the original protocol without such a fee. The same thing would happen if the Wisp developers introduce a change that the Spectrecoin team does not agree with.

If there is no consensus disagreement, i.e. if the Spectrecoin consensus protocol is perfectly usable for realizing our vision of Wisp, we will not need a fork. Instead, we will be offering an alternative wallet for Spectrecoin users, called Wisp Wallet, that does not contain a so called "minimum donation" and allows the users to access the Spectrecoin blockchain in the way envisioned by us.

By going this way, we have the full freedom to develop Wisp in the way we like, while at the same time offering Spectrecoin users an alternative to the software produced by Mandica & Co.. This will also strengthen the Spectrecoin ecosystem overall, because development will no longer depend on one single team of developers! Which results in reliability improvements and should increase the trust in the future of this project.

Sorry if this announcement has become a little too lengthy or too technical for you.  Wink Please feel free to ask if there are any further questions!  Smiley A short summary can be found here: https://github.com/wispproject/doc/wiki/About-Wisp I will update the PRE-ANN here and make a new ANN thread for the Wisp wallet soon. Stay tuned.  Cool

No, staking doesn't work. I have not received anything since 18th April, that is 6 weeks ago. And I have my computer 24/7 online because I mine on it. The wallet even says "staking".
This coin is a fucking joke and being shilled by people like it's second Jesus coming.

Staking is like mining with your balance - if you have a low balance, it will take ages until you get a block reward. It's similar to mining Bitcoin with a Raspberry Pi - just because you never get any rewards doesn't mean that the system itself does not work. I would recommend you to learn more about Proof of Stake: https://github.com/bitcoinx2/tutorials/wiki/Proof-of-Stake

"Espers is a blockchain project with the goal of offering secured messaging, websites on the chain and an overall pleasing experience to the user?"

WHAT IN THE FUCK!?Smiley i LOL'd so hard reading this on their website. Read it again, slowly. This is plain stupid and most ridiculous crypto description I've seen. Do you people really invest in THIS?
Offering secured messaging? there are plenty out there already. Oh and you dont really need blockchain for that. Whitepaper is a joke. Lots of crucial things simply arent even explained. Not to mention there are projects like Storj, Sia, Shift, Hostcoin etc
And pleasing experience? What the hell this even supposed to mean? A blowjob Smiley?

Typical shitcoin

Welcome Transurfer! The difference between our secured messaging and most other solutions is that ours will be implemented on the blockchain, which means messages can be sent even if the receiver is offline for a long time, you have a guaranteed delivery etc.. Most other cryptocurrency chat implementations today are not really practical. The mechanism by which messages are being stored and distributed will be the same as for any other data, e.g. websites, media files etc.

The whitepaper is not a technical whitepaper but a business whitepaper, it explains the general idea of this project. Most of the things are not even implemented yet. You are free to come to Discord and ask more specific questions of course.  Wink

A pleasing experience includes things such as the auto-updater for the wallet, and a one-click setup for Xnodes.

Feel free to ask if you have any further questions.  Smiley

In the beginning I also struggled with spectre requirement of newer openssl (1.1.0) than is in CentOS I have on VPS. Gandalf's advice to use older version which builds with openssl 1.0.1 helped me, unfortunately I can't find page he referred.
But basically it was this:
git clone https://github.com/spectrecoin/spectre
git checkout v1.3.5

I had to get over a few other issues, like install newer version of gcc (7.2.1 which supports C++14 standard - see RPM package devtools-7-runtime) and also build Boost C++ library (distro version didn't work, don't remember exact reason).

Finally I didn't know how to run it. Dunno is it is the best way, but I run it with -cli parameter under tmux console multiplexer.
When I ran it as daemon, I couldn't figure out how to connect to it to issue commands.
Also I needed to create .spectrecoin/spectrecoin.conf in my home dir where I enabled staking and set rpcpassword.
I wonder if there is a tutorial or comprehensive doc about this all (how to configure and run spectre without GUI). I didn't find any - I put everything together from pieces I googled out.

Thanks, this is a good suggestion. I can try to make more installation tutorials for different setups. The page that you are referring to was taken down by me, to avoid making it look like official XSPEC documentation and to avoid confusion with Wisp. I'll talk with the Spectrecoin team to find a place where these guides can be published.

Attention all developers please! We are looking to increase the size our development team, because JBG doesn't want to be the only one coding on this. Having a large group of developers is vital for a project like this. So if you are a C++ developer and would like to help and do some interesting coding tasks for this project, please get in touch with @jbg in the #development channel of our Discord! Recurring contributors will receive the "Contributor" role in Discord and will be able to chat in #contributor_chat , and some Github issues have bounties attached to provide an financial incentive. Looking forward to hearing from you!  Cool

I think your project gives us less information. Could you give us more information about it? I want to ask about the purpose of this project?

The Pre-ANN post on the first page should give you a good picture, if there is anything still unclear please ask! Smiley

How is this progressing?

Very slowly. Read on Discord about what is being discussed please. Everything is fully transparent.

Need more infomation(Roadmap,whitepaper etc)

https://github.com/wispproject/doc/wiki/Roadmap

This project is still in its infancy, we haven't even started the fork yet. You will get more information like the greater vision, goals etc. in the real ANN that announces the fork.

If I use the old wallet, will I still have trouble loading the chain of blocks from another network? Or will it be synchronized with the correct chain?
Does not seem. With your old wallet you can still create a chain block from the old network. To my knowledge

If you are talking about the pre-swap wallet from 2016, then yes, you can still use the old wallet to connect to Yobit. At least you should be, haven't tried it. You might need to get their IP address manually since all the hardcoded seednodes are probably down.

I appreciate all the responses to peoples questions, Gandalf.

Just want to double check my math to be sure I understand your post above:

If there's a block generated every 60 seconds, that means there is a block reward every minute? Are there 1440 (minutes in a day) separate block rewards each day? So in theory you'd need to have 1/1440 of the network weight to get a reward daily (on average)? Is that correct? With a network weight of 8,000,000, one would need 5,600 coins (.0007% or 1/1440 of 8,000,000) to average one block reward each day? Or is my understanding of the math completely wrong... thanks again.

Yup, that sounds pretty accurate.  Cool
