1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Which pools have moved their hash power from BTC to BCH/alts? on: November 12, 2017, 01:12:28 PM
BTC hashpower seems to have gone down with block rate of around 30 mins
Based on whats visible, ANTPool, BTC.com and VIABTC have been mining BCH blocks heavily and not so many BTC.

Which pools are putting their hash power away from BTC?

2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: i want to cancel unconfirmed bitcoin transaction on: November 12, 2017, 12:48:31 PM
You can do a RBF ("replace-by-fee") to replace an existing transaction with a new one.
If you are able to hand-craft transactions and the previous one was marked as RBF, it will be easy.
It is also be possible to double spend transactions not marked as RBF, though the chance is low. Try to rebroadcast the higher fee transaction repeatedly.

If not, then it'll be either confirmed within 72 hours or dropped, after which you can send it again.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Explain situation around Bitcoin on: November 12, 2017, 09:26:17 AM
It seems to me more of an attack on BCH than BTC, because, collectively malicious mining pools can reverse transactions easier on the latter chain because of the quick difficulty adjustment (in theory at least).
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Centralized hashing is the problem. on: November 12, 2017, 09:15:53 AM
Next hardfork of bitcoin should try to take care of these mining pools trying to dominate hashrate, if that is possible. A few mining pools should not be allowed to swing the hashrate so much.. This is like a coordinated centralized attack.

Pool users should decide where the hashrate goes, not the operators. This is a problem for all cryptos but more for BCH, whose hashrate adjusts more quickly.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'M GETTING REALLY ANGRY! WTF is happening with this BTC/BCH crap! on: November 12, 2017, 09:09:07 AM
Seems miners are also intending to pump and dump. Antpool has been mining bch and not much btc over last 12 hours or so. Someone is looking for a huge pump dump.

6  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: Was bedeutet Weight (kWU) bei blockchain.info? on: September 07, 2017, 02:40:48 AM
Das hat mit SegWit zu tun.
Aktuell kann ein Block 4MB 'wiegen'.

Thanks.. Could not find this info anywhere in the English forums.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: **Download the blockchain here, updated regularly ** on: August 21, 2017, 05:58:20 AM
Good work. Is this project still going on?
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Segwit is shit Satoshi Nakamoto said it himself on: August 04, 2017, 11:47:03 PM
I am more interested in knowing who told you that.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: OH, ahhh!! Now I understand why Bitcoin Cash is called Cash...! on: August 04, 2017, 07:09:39 PM
yes apparently bitcoin holders realized that they can also pull off an Ethereum-style hardfork and get money out of thin air.. ingenious idea. And done better then ETH.. because we have replay protection.
I was against in the beginning it but now am waiting for the next one.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fuck BitcoinCash on: August 04, 2017, 06:03:48 PM

interesting there are 26% of the miners mining bitcoin cash, lol who are these morons mining a less profitable coins? is antpool with them?

You read that wrong. The difficult of that chain is 26% of that of bitcoin. This does not mean the hash rate is 26% .. its more like 5%.
Thats why the block time in BCC is hours, not minutes.

A simple way to calculate hash rate ratio:

If 26% of hash power was in BCC then a block will be found in 10 mins. If a block is found every hour, then hash rate is actually 26/6 or about 4 %

To track the actual hash rate, we need an accurate measure of average block time in BCC, which will take few more days to estimate better.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you dumped your BCC yet? on: August 04, 2017, 05:49:32 PM
Isn't BCC sort of considered an altcoin at this stage though?

Thats why its in the "Altcoin Discussion" board. Irrespective of how much it sells for (even more than BTC), it is still an Altcoin despite what people say.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you dumped your BCC yet? on: August 03, 2017, 10:52:04 PM
Have you dumped your BCC yet? If yes, explain the following:

1) What method did you use to dump it? Did you get the split from a Bitcoin Core wallet or other method to store your private keys?
2) If you selected an exchange, in what exchange did you send your coins to receive the split?
3) Have you sold yet? If so, in what exchange and how much have you sold?

Here are the steps I followed:
1. Move BTC from existing address A to another one *after* fork has happened. Now we can worry less about compromising private key of existing address A.
2. Use Electron wallet inside a virtual machine, imported private key of address A. Soon your BCC balance will show in the wallet.
3. Move funds to ViaBTC (I used them, but you can use another)
4. Sell them for BTC.
5. Wait for 20 blocks for your deposit in Step 3.
6. Withdraw BTC
7. Profit!

(for multiple existing address, the procedure is pretty much the same).
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How much did you dump your BCC for? And when is the next hard fork coming? :D on: August 03, 2017, 10:29:42 PM
Next fork is when? And would be great if its well planned so we have better options to dump the coins.
14  Economy / Service Discussion / Viabtc down for past hour? [EDIT was more like 30 mins] on: August 03, 2017, 02:52:52 PM
I am getting:

502 Bad Gateway

nginx/1.10.3 (Ubuntu)

Anyone else able to login? I am guessing its the load triggered some circuit breaker. Site had been working fine till this (no sign of slowness).

EDIT: was actually around 30 mins. Seems to be back

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why no BCC/BCH block after 478570 for last several hours? on: August 02, 2017, 01:50:58 PM
Why has the block time increased? I thought the reducing difficulty will make it stable.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitmain Cash was stillborn. (ITS DEAD!) on: August 01, 2017, 06:43:45 PM
interestingly two blocks were found pretty quickly compared to the first one. We are now at 478561
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH hashrate? on: August 01, 2017, 02:16:51 PM
The difficulty of bcc/bch should drop soon as it has a different algorithm for auto-adjusting difficulty. So a block will be mined sooner or later.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's going on??? on: August 01, 2017, 01:38:46 PM
its happening bcc cash has forked, first block mint with more than 1mb header its 1 block behind now

btc

Best Block Hash:
00000000000000000019f112ec0a9982926f1258cdcc558dd7c3b7e5dc7fa148

bcc

Best Block Hash:
0000000000000000011865af4122fe3b144e2cbeea86142e8ff2fb4107352d43

This is wrong and fud. The best block hash for bcc is block #478558 which is part of the btc chain.

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH hashrate? on: August 01, 2017, 01:30:11 PM
I think we lost around 10-15% total. its mostly from ViaBTC and antpool.

I don't know whether they are rerouting their pool hashrate or if they are just switching some of their ASICs.

I can tell you for sure that they are holding some of my payout as hostage though

ViaBTC has been mining BTC... so did they lie or are they splitting their hash power?
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [UPDATED]: [BREAKING NEWS]: It Is Now 1st August 12:20 UTC on: August 01, 2017, 12:58:00 PM
//DOUBLE EDIT:  I suppose the mempool isn't particularly full right now.  Maybe they need a few more tx to include before they can fork.

the mempool that you see is bitcoin mempool not BCC mempool. the transactions that you see in bitcoin mempool are now invalid on BCC chain so they can not mine them.
that is why i made this topic and asked the question: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2058548.0
they need BCC transactions which are different with a different signature which is also invalid on bitcoin chain!

now the question is who will make BCC transaction right away!!!

I think this is right, as they claim to have replay protection ... so a BTC tx wont be valid there (not sure about vice versa).
Does the reverse also hold?

EDIT: Also, it could be that some miners are collecting BCC blocks and will push them out all at once (the "selfish miner" attack).
