402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [GUIDE] How to claim Bitcoin Cash on: July 30, 2017, 08:01:10 AM

Other website which will give BCH for free are:

- kraken
- bitfinex

I agree using these websites is quite risky though...
403  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anyone read "The road less traveled"? on: July 30, 2017, 07:44:28 AM
Yes, I read it and I think its meaning is usually misunderstood. The author, in my opinion, wanted to say even the road more traveled can give you high rewards in life. Don't need to be always offbeat
404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Why this Fork is Different from the Ethereum one? on: July 29, 2017, 12:05:37 PM
As most of us may know in 2016 there was Ethereum hard fork after the infamous DAO hack. Many of us who invested in Ether and had Ether at the time received the same amount of ETC (the original one) and ETH (the altcoin coming out after the fork).

To receive both coins, all I had to do was to send my Ethers to Poloniex. After that the exchange automatically splitted the coins and I received both ETC and ETH. Then I withdrew them to my ether wallet.
It took no longer than 1 hour for the whole process. It was fast, clean, painless, easy and cheap.

Note that I sent the coins to Poloniex after the fork. (On a side note, I'd like to say I started using POloniex that time).

Now we know that a fork is gonna happen on August 1st for Bitcoin too. Many of us are pretty sure that Bitcoin Cash (the forked altcoin) is not gonna have a high value and will eventually have a short life. But that's actually free money, so why not claim it? But how?

There are already many guides around and most of them say the easiest way is to use exchanges (like bittrex or kraken), in a similar way we did for Ethereum. Then the exchange will split the coins on its own and we will just have to withdraw to our wallet(s).
But that's a big difference between this method and the one I used for Ethereum.

For the Ethereum fork, we sent the money to Poloniex after the fork. The guides I found for the Bitcoin fork suggest to send money to exchanges before the fork. I don't know if I'm missing something... If not, why the method many of us used for the Ethereum fork cannot be applied for the Bitcoin one as well?

Far East Asia, places like mountains of China, forests of Japan and beaches of Philippines.
406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Wallets Support BCC on: July 29, 2017, 08:20:51 AM
I think you should choose Bittrex as your wallet because Bittrex is supported if the split happens and according to the latest information if you hold 1BTC on Bittrex you will probably get 1BCC, the value of 1BCC = 400. $, Which makes Bitcoin prices soar today

1. Bittrex is not a wallet, it is an exchange.
2. We already said many times it is very risky to keep your Bitcoins on exchanges when the fork will happen. Actually, it is ALWAYS risky to store large amounts of Bitcoins on exchanges, not only around a fork.
407  Other / Off-topic / Re: My blog on Crypto Trading - Feedback is welcome on: July 29, 2017, 08:16:51 AM
this is a very good blog, very well written  Smiley

Hey bud. I appreciate the effort you put in your blog. It is informative. Will follow. Thx.

This is great, you just add the latest information about bitcoin, and people will be interested in your blog

Thank you all. Appreciate the comments.
Added another article that took me about 12 hours of research -

Is there a good reason you didn't include the best Bitcoin wallet in your list (i.e. Electrum)?
408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stop all the ICOS now! SEC is coming! on: July 27, 2017, 02:36:56 PM
I don't see what's the problem about that. ICOs will continue regardless what the says or does.
I also think American users can invest in any ICO they want. How can the SEC control them?

This is good news. They are afraid of crypto, but don't have the means to fight us...
409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the bitcoin decentralized? on: July 27, 2017, 02:12:43 PM
Yes and no. It is decentralized in the sense that there's no dictator, no single unit that controls it and - in theory - anyone can mine and earn Bitcoin trough this. But it's also true that, as years went by, mining power concentrate only in few hands. So I think the whole Bitcoin ecosystem is decentralized, but mining is centralized stuff.
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Multibit HD is dead on: July 27, 2017, 02:05:45 PM
Sounds strange to me. It is true I have had a couple of problems with it (Now it syncs from 2015 everytime a go in and I had to reinstall it due to an issue) but I have used it recently to send and receive some bitcoins and everything was ok... well time to move funds from it I guess.

Yes, I also moved funds from it and everything went fine. Better to stop using it though, because if it's not updated it can cause problems... also be careful to not receive further funds on your multibit address anymore...
411  Economy / Exchanges / Re: The BTC-E case thread on: July 27, 2017, 01:31:54 PM

No one, of course! Not even bitstamp which has a so high rating. Better to keep money on exchanges just for short-term trading and then withdraw all the money to our personal wallets.
412  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are you in favor of same sex marriage? on: July 27, 2017, 12:56:50 PM
Well, I'm certainly not a sort of "gay-pride advocate" but at the same time I have nothing against them and their choices. If they don't harm anyone and don't annoy anyone, why worry? Why be against their marriages?
413  Other / MultiBit / Re: MultiBit is officially abandoned and no more on: July 27, 2017, 12:52:03 PM
Too bad Jim Burton abandoned this project. It was a really good wallet when he was the captain of the ship, both with Classic and with first version of HD... Since he sold Multibit to keepkey the wallet has gone worse and worse. We gotta move all the funds to different wallets and be careful to not receive payments to multibit addresses anymore.
414  Other / Off-topic / Re: Paypal OR Skrill on: July 27, 2017, 12:43:55 PM
They are both bad payment gataways.
Anyway, among the two, I'd say paypal is a little bit better because it is less expensive and it is more accepted on online stores...
415  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it possible that facebook will be replaced? on: July 27, 2017, 12:40:46 PM
Is it possible that facebook will be replaced or fade out of trend? ( to the point that it will be forgotten) Will it get shut down like Friendster when the time has come?

For me, I dont think facebook will suffer the same fate as MySpace or even Friendster and if so it will take years before it will be replaced by another social media ( which i highly doubt it will happen) . Facebook has become a part of our daily lives and the things that you can do with it are endless. you can play games on facebook , chat with friends on facebook, post pictures and videos on facebook, and the best part is you can share memes on facebook.  That's why it is so hard to beat or to fade out of trend because it already has everything that an average human needs.

I would like to hear your opinion on this topic

Yes, it is true. Facebook is much bigger than Friendster and MySpace and this is the reason it is quite unlikely it will go out of date in short period of time. What's sure is that anything could happen. On the Internet anything could change at a very fast rate and, just like MSN, any website or app could go unfashionable.

Facebook, the social medium, can disappear just the same way. But Facebook is much more that its website. It is a C-Corporation which has INstagram, WHats App and many other businesses...
416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Traders: Would you have made more money if you just bought and held? on: July 27, 2017, 12:32:38 PM
I think in crypto-market it is too risky to make long-term investments. Coins come and go, exchanges come and go. It is all too fast and anything could change in a very short period of time. Better to relate on short-term speculation.
417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Bounty] FundYourselfNow - Revolutionizing Crowdfunding on: July 27, 2017, 08:58:30 AM
Hi, if I decide to leave the campaign today, will I still get my stakes from the past? Thanks.

I think you will still get your stakes from the past work you did, because OP didn't say anything about that... anyway, it's a good idea to keep your signature until the campaign ends since it is a great project!

I really like your project so I'm glad to wear your signature to advertise KAPU. Anyway how can I check if my profile has been accepted or not?
