741  Other / Obsolete (selling) / FS/T : Radeon HD 6990 (CLOSED) on: May 17, 2011, 02:22:19 AM
I have a nearly brand new 6990.  I'd like to trade it for a 5970 and a 5870 or sell it for USD/BTC.  I have a great reputation with GPG auth in IRC and have been active in the community for several months.

PM/e-mail me your bids/offers.  episking at gmail.

Awesome video.  What motherboards and PSU are you using for your rigs?

744  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best Case and Power Supply for 4 x ATI 5970 Setup? on: May 12, 2011, 06:01:36 PM
but you know that windows only support 4 and linux 8 gpus? so nothing more than 4x5970 won't work anyway

you should be able to put second psu in 5.25 bay of any big tower case with only minor modifications, 2 psu cases are quite rare, otherwise even something like antec hcp 1200 may not be enough if you plan any overclocking as it can only deliver 99A

Curious... , is it better to have 1 12v rail at 100amps, or 8 12v rails at 30 amps?

I'm trying to power a 6990 and 5970, and my cooler master pro gold 1000watt seems to not be cutting it... (see my recent topic post).

When buying a new psu, I'm looking at the Corsair 1200 watt, which has a single 12v rail at 108amps, or Antec has a new 1200 watt that has 8 12v rails, each at 30 amps.. I've heard it's better to have a single rail.... thoughts?

746  Bitcoin / Mining / 6990 + 5970 on: May 12, 2011, 05:26:18 PM
I've been spending way too much time trying to get this rig running stable... Reinstalled windows 7 x64 with 6990 installed, put on 11.5 catalyst and 2.4 sdk, restarted, mining fine.  Then I installed the 5970 and booted up with monitors connected to each card, boots fine, guiminer detects all 4 cores, and I started mining... After about 2 hours, the computer shuts down... heat on all cores and vcc/voltage controllers are showing ok temps (less than 100c).  I don't have a crossfire cable installed, and I have acooler master pro gold 1000 watt psu that is less than 2 months old.  I used to have 2 5970 installed in this same computer and it was rock solid even with moderate to high overclocking...

Any ideas guys?  Your help is extremely appreciated.

747  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Tripple 6990s Minning Help Request on: May 12, 2011, 05:15:49 PM
Is it possible to mine with tripple 6990s? AMD drivers do not normally support tripple crossfire 6990s. Is there a way around this?

Thanks

Ubuntu 10.10, Catalyst 11.5, SDK 2.4. Like this:

What case is that?

Also, I am using ATI-Stream-v2.1 (145) & Catalyst 11.3 (3-8-2011)... Haven't tried using 2.4 yet, and I don't really feel like switching it... Is 2.4 supposed to be better performance?

750  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 4 Card Motherboard on: May 04, 2011, 02:59:47 AM

The reference ones are better.

Duly noted, the ones with the full covering around the heatsink and the squirrel cage fan?

this dont matter much if you are like some of us that simply strap our mobos, psu & hd to a plate and run it without a case. Much better cooling, especially in my field stone basement.

What do you mean by plate? Like just on the counter?  Have a link?  I'm looking for a good case system for my next rig build.

Currently the problem is with deepbit.net the API access is not output, as [Tycho] said.

I have set it up to use bitcoincharts.com for market data instead of using just mtgox. Would anyone want to be able to select which symbol to use? so it would not have to be mtgox but allow you to select from a list to display the value.

It could be nice to have a drop down, but everyone probably uses MtGox as a benchmark.

Agreed.

The pool crash just now killed it. Sad C'est la vie, I guess.

Seems not to be working for me... Says "error when connecting to: deepbit.net"

Thats a good point. One 5870 is brand new, the 5770 is a year old and warrantied, the other two 5870s are a year old.

Sent you a PM.

Second, I have some suggestions, you need to adjust your tables really.

Thanks for your input. I would like to hear what other members think about best combination of tables. This part is matter of messing with configuration files, so I can implement this fairly easy.

Also I never played anything beside hold'em, so I really do not know any details about other poker games (it just came with software and I left it as is). If there are bugs with it - please let me know. Probably it will make sense to push bug report to server software author.

Finally, you must fix the structure in limit tables. The problem is, the software makes the blinds 2x big as they should be. In .02-.04 limit for example, the blinds are .02 and .04, when they should be .01 and .02. This makes the opening raise size to .06, when it should be .04. Now, due to this fact you would have to have .005 and .01 blinds, if you want to keep the .01-.02, limit tables. This would be fine, and I would make 5 of those as well. Currently at the .01-.02 limit tables the blinds are .01 and .02, and the opening raise size is .03, when it should be .02, and blinds .01 and .01. That would actually work too, so either .005 and .01 blinds, or .01 and .01, if you can't do 3 decimal points.

Could someone else comment on this too? I do not have much experience in poker, but I always believe .01-.02 should refer to small and big blinds. Is this really incorrect? Any examples?

Yes I am correct. Open a play money pokerstars table, with limit betting. 200/400 limit holdem has 100/200 blinds. etc

Also I forgot one VERY important thing

You must implement all hands to be shown at showdown. At current time, sometimes only winning hand is shown. This is to prevent teamplay/collusion, people working together. All players on table should be able to see the losing hand, at least in the "dealer chat" window.

Please don't do this.  Just because a lot of online sites do this doesn't mean it's a good idea.  If you do this in live poker, you'll get a kick in the nuts if you do it too much.  Although this rule is supposedly designed to prevent collusion, it is very rare that it actually is.  However, a lot of nits like it since they get to see what people had.

Yeah, I mean, if everyone could see the hands, then what value would bluffing have?  I know Tom wouldn't want that!  ;-)

I am willing to offer up some personally identifying info to anyone who might consider.

I might be willing to do this... Do you bank with Chase by chance?  PM me.

What brand cards are the 5870, and how long ago were they purchased?  IE.  Are they under warranty?
