61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is liberty reserve better than Dwolla? on: June 11, 2011, 09:01:16 AM
.. I signed up with LR but it seems soo difficult!  What exchange do u guys use?  The exchanges ask for so much info.  You really don't know what you got until its gone, dwolla was so easy to use.

I have the same difficulty, which LR exchange do you use?  How do you verify their "trustability"?

I would like to try depositing some CAD or USD or EURO

Which is best for each?  Anyone have any experience?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

I am using Dwolla too, any ideas why they suspended your account?

Is it a Paypal kinda 'attack' ?

Thanks

64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox changed the bank transfer message! on: June 10, 2011, 09:37:41 PM
Are there any other SEPA (euro) exchanges that work FAST?

Mt Gox is just too slow nowadays.

Grrrrrrrr.  Smiley

I used SEPA as well... it is sooo frustrating, makes you wanna go an mine instead of this wait!!!

I actually have no idea, is it better to buy equipment for $3000 or invest $3000

where is a good thread discussing this.

Here, I just have to plea that someone listens and makes our money appear...

oh, and another question, does anyone know in what order buy transactions are processed?

Like, if I have a buy order at $30, and so do you... who gets it, if there is only 1 sell at $30.

or

If I have a buy order at $30 for 100 BTC, and you have a buy order at $30 for 50 BTC and someone wants to sell 25 BTC at $30, who gets it?

Bitcoin got smashed by Leo in Macbreak Weekly.  Very depressing to hear. http://twit.tv/mbw245

At what point in the podcast does Leo smash bitcoin?

I would say that they were just talking in circles about different eCurrency systems and that they think they are used for money laundering (what is money laundering?) ... I mean, what is money laundering when money is REAL... was there ever such thing as "gold laundering" ?!

You can hear them talking about Bitcoin (actually just barely mentioning it at about the 40min mark) if you watch the video, the clock in the background says 12:06

Wow! This is really amazing and I know what I'm talking about as I edit videos. What software did you use for this? Adobe Aftereffects?

Yes, Adobe After Effects CS4 I believe.

In other news we've just submitted the video to http://www.webcuts.org/2011/ . It was free to submit so why not.

If any of you come across any contests, awards or film festivals with an animation/motion graphics category, let us know and we'll try and get it in. I don't know how high the chances are since the video is kind of a commercial, but hey Bitcoin is open-source and this is all indie stuff plus we've got nothing to lose in submitting it. Smiley

I have to agree here also! Smiley  I am new to this forum but not new to teaching the world around me about geeky developments that may interest the 'masses'... I have been having HUGE difficulty convincing/introducing people to Bitcoin.  Non-technical, and non-conspriatorial minded ones.  The few that are curious, got lost or hung up on the issue of it being created by "anybody"

I like the other description (which is much more correct) about all bitcoins having been created when the first block chain was generated by the protocol... but the word "protocol" also looses 99% of "normal" people.  So please, let's try and find a really snazzy and easy-to-understand way of communicating this.

I think we need to link it to some aspects of the computer world that the general public understands.  Things like Google, and Facebook... but alas, I have not got a good idea (yet) for how to do it.

Please help me (us) Smiley

hehehe

I am new here, just reading all the "off topic" messages, and they're fun, and a good read.

Adam's fair interest is that which Bob intends to accomplish with the $100. Demanding any more, beyond external transaction fees, is exploitation.

Nefario is paying me to develop the software for his bitcoin corporation. I know he will try to make a profit off of it. Meanwhile, I will get paid 120 BTC a week. That's an actual agreement in real life.

Is that exploitation? No. I like the arrangement in question.

This is after all, an amicable agreement between two moral agents. You, the outsider, is just an observer, who have nothing to do with the exchange. Whatever you think is exploitation is completely irrelevant to what I thought is a good deal, or what is moral.

I wholeheartedly have to agree! Smiley
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Estimating the rate of coin loss. on: May 01, 2011, 10:28:01 AM
I read on a previous post that lost coins could be treasure chest to be found/mined at a later stage when encryption levels must rise due to increase in cpu power.  To thwart this, people must update their wallet to a higher encryption level.

Would this not hold true in this case?  Those who die or loose coins will leave their lost wallets to be hacked/found/mined at a later date when it becomes feasible.

This is a very interesting thread, did it die, or can it be revived now that Bitcoins are getting even sweeter to own?

just wondering...
