It's true that crypto projects, just like any other companies in the world, need time to grow, expand, develop, make partnerships, do marketing and so on.
Sadly most investors connect the crypto market with quick flips, just look at all those IEO's. People buy those coins and even use bots to sell them as quickly as possible once they can be traded.
I personally only buy cryptos that i want to keep for a least a year, which has to do with tax regulations in my country too.

The best one still bitcoin  The next coin will be ethereum. The next will be an unpredicted coin, which can be the number third because I think the next bull run will make many coins compete with each other to lift the price. Plenty of ways to identify if the project is fake or not. Look for team record, their country origin, their vision for the coin, whitepaper, exchanges where they want to hold IEO, or how they willing to public the amount of fundraising for ICO,etc.
As you wrote, there are many ways of checking that could tell us that the project is a scam. Unfortunately, there is probably no way to be sure that the project is not a scam. All we can do is minimize the danger, but you can never be 100% sure that the project is safe. I agree with both of you! There are plenty of ways to check if a project is fake or accurate! However, we never can be so sure! There is no 100% guarantee. All we can do is just to do good researches, it only help us reduces the risks. Projects that announce by a legendary member is not always a promising projects. But, sometimes a promising projects is conducted by a legendary member because this rank is high. I personally will research project first beside announced by legendary member.

There are many people who are successful on demo accounts but lost in real trades, maybe only experience can answer that.

There is a reason why user information cant be detracked from the address they are using. Unless they are registeres on a centralized exchange and somehow the details of the user were leaked or let say compromised there is a chance that you can get it.

In my opinion, there are many factors why a new project has stalled. Apart from the scam, the new project was stopped because the developer team started to leave the project and create a new project that was more realistic to be realized. I think so too! As they working, they may realize that their project is not realistic anymore. As we know, a lot of people try to start-up and they're rush in doing something. Therefore, they may not think twice before starting something. It leads to the consequence that a lot of projects are not realistic and don't have any application to our market as well as our life.
