Somewhere in an African desert blastbob trys to explain how to troubleshoot a RaspberryPI to a poor guy that just ran for his life from some wild animals while trying to find water for his village. Please let me in on the stuff you are smoking Obviously the digital divide exists and many people in the world are still not online. However. there are people in all countries who are, and a coin that could be efficiently mined by them could change the world.

I've been thinking of a similar thing. I have no idea how to do it but you can make it so that it can only be mined on mobile phones, tablets etc. But not on dedicated mining rigs. This way anyone with a mobile phone can mine, contribute to the network, and make coins Most of these nations have very high mobile phone usage compared to computer use. I am not sure how to do this in a technical way - maybe limit the Kh/s from any one IP address?

So I've spent over 48 hours trying to get this to work and it turns out after all this the key is in the wrong format (too many digits by the looks of things) - and even after getting another key generated from Icoin from my wallet on Devda it is still in the wrong format.
Thank you to everyone for helping me out though - hopefully we will get there soon.
Solved Icoin you are a champion!

just use pywallet...
That was the first thing I used yesterday but it didn't work. I think the wallet's key is too long or in the incorrect format (it is over 1000 characters). Either that or I am just not sure what the issue is to be honest - but Bitcoin Tools gave me an error that the key was of an incorrect length.

Whoever can solve my problem I will give you 1 000 000 DVC. Can someone provide me with an idiots guide to using : https://github.com/Unthinkingbit/bitcointools in Windows to import a private key into my Devcoin wallet? I am trying to do this with my Devda wallet's private key (in key.txt format) so I can actually receive my generation shares. I have: - Windows 7 64 bit - Twobits' Devcoin wallet - Python 2.7.6 installed (but I know nothing about python) I have tried using the windows cmd console to run the command to import the prvate key, but I received an error that privkeyimport.py was a HTML doc, is this because I didn't download privkeyimport.py correctly from GitHub? Or could it be because I don't know anything about python? I am in way over my head here and any help greatly appreciated (I am primarily a writer which is why I am writing on Devtome) - anyone who can take the time to write me an idiots guide that works to doing this - I will give you 1 000 000 DVC. Thank you EDIT: Please PM with any advice.

Hi guys
I have downloaded and installed the client for windows - and followed the instructions with all the receiver files and such.
Unfortunately my client won't download the blockchain at all - it won't even start downloading it. None of the other clients on my computer have this problem.
Should I try and use a different port in the devcoin.conf? I have no idea what to do!

Just got it confirmed by e-mail: CNC is coming to a second "major" exchange soon (<48 hours, they are setting up and testing) Didn't get a confirmation, nor a denial, from another one I mailed. That's great news First FTC shortly after I mailed, now CNC You're doing god's work son. No, just spreading the word I always message exchanges to get altcoins at them asap. Doesn't always have the same result, but at least I try and I'm sure many more do. In this case it was easy I guess, Chinese exchange vs Chinese coin. BTC-e or Vircurex? I call Vircurex EDIT: just saw the above answer. If it is BTC-e on the other hand it would have to be a record.

So we should see our coins showing up later today right?
Yes it takes another 100-120 blocks for the generation shares to mature. I believe they come in in a steady stream throughout the round. Are you using devda.ch or a the Devcoin client on your computer? Devda Me too - I think what is happening is we won't receive any coins until the generation shares have matured - as the web based wallet won't include incoming transactions that haven't yet "matured". This is what I am hoping as I didn't anticipate any problem. First generation shares should mature in 40 - 60 blocks - so about 10 hours if my calculations are correct. If we haven't seen anything in 10 hours I will be contacting the devda dev. That's all we can do for now. They really, really, really better come!! UPDATE: sent myself a test transaction and it is looking fine - so the wallet is fine - apparently others have also used Devda wallet in the past for generation shares so I would say we are 90% should be ok.
