112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin blockchain stalled? on: June 15, 2013, 08:16:02 AM
It is less bad luck and more likely from the network hashrate dropping from ~21 GH to ~15 GH.  That same proportional drop is probably seen on all the pools.  High difficulty with low overall hashrate means we get blocks that take longer than the target block time to solve.  Good news is that difficulty will almost certainly go down next block change.  Bad news is that any round based payouts are going to be reduced or at the minimum have much higher variance than before.

If I knew a known scammer lived near me I would find the most clever ways of making their life difficult.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BITBAR FPGA/Asic PROJECT "included inside each BitBar USB wallet drive" on: June 08, 2013, 06:16:00 PM
So what's the deal here, is he posting this drivel but not directly asking for money to avoid the ban hammer?

Presumably he's hoping people that are gullible enough to PM him with genuine interest and lolbars/bitcoins to stay under the mods radars.

Or maybe the 'buy it now/here' post is yet to come?

Listen people i am bringing to the table the first of its kind!! i did not discover the secret to the ASiC scrypt miner. Two wonderful brilliant Techs from china  figured it out while on contract for my USB secured BitBar wallet. In my contract. These to techs are truly amazing but have very little people skills and are very shy not to mention cannot speak English . We have came together to create a truly amazing product . Things in the crypto world will change forever when we bring it to the masses.

People said ASIC miners for scrypt could not happen. I am here to tell say your wrong!!! Cooling the device was the only real issue. this device creates more heat than i have ever seen in a mining device. Fire hazard was very real!!!! The cooling system for this device is very radical using rare metals and other elements

more talk....

The three fan gigabytes are very quiet even at full fan speed.  Though this is just my personal experience through owning several different kinds of 7950s.  I dont have any figures to back it up.
117  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Removing plastic from around heatsink for better cooling on: June 07, 2013, 04:35:39 AM
What are your VRAM temps? You might want to stick a few ramsinks on there.

There is only one temp sensor on this card and it shows at the above temps mentioned.  I've adapted a small case fan to blow on VRAM now that the crappy shroud is out of the way.
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coin should I add next to P2Pool.org? on: June 07, 2013, 04:21:37 AM
Phenixcoin needs a p2pool

I have a cheap powercolor AX7950 with a single fan in the middle of the card.  Temps on the card were a constant 85+ at 100% fan when mining with a "normal" overclock.  Since removeing the plastic housing temps have dropped to 75 on average and I can reduce the fan speed down to 70%.  I have concluded the shroud is merely there to look shiny.

I have a sapphire with a single fan that sits at 70 degrees with 70% fan.

I think quality of the card plays a lot into how well the cooling shroud is supposed to work.  Key example is the Sapphire has a heatsink on the vram and an offset fan.  The Powercolor card has no heatsink on the vram and the fan is located in the center of the card.
