Micro sata cables is legit

You can almost double your profits by spending 300 on a 7950 (~600 kh/s) instead of 160 on a 7850 (~320).  You'd also have a card that will be easier to sell back in the future (IMO) as the 7950 is a much superior video card.  The 7850 w/o crossfire is already struggling on some of the newer PC games.
223  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Power for 7950's on: April 13, 2013, 02:59:23 AM
AMD suggests a 750W for a tri-fire setup, so 800W should be more than enough if it has enough AMPs.  Check that it has a single rail also.

Yup, im liking my gigabyte 7950s.  600 kh/s at 1050/1450 clocks, the cards on risers never get above 70, the ones right on the board never get above 80.  They took a bit to hammer out the perfect settings and I could only get those speeds on cgminer 2.11.3 and up.

Higher thread-concurrencies and intensities levels (18) made everything perfect.  I think whats interesting is how different they run from my 7970s.  I can't get the 7970s to run at 700kh/s at high thread-concurrency levels...im stuck in 2.10.5.  Moving up to 2.11.3 drops hash rate to 500 regardless of any settings.
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: suddently dropped hashrate in litecoin mining on: March 11, 2013, 08:48:21 AM
I have found that the only setting I need to change in cgminer is the "intensity" level.  Cgminer seems to find the max values for my other settings(except clock values).  Usually when I try different settings than default I get heavy stales or hw errors.

Users with high hash rates have multiple GPU/CPUs running.   So someone with 12700 Khash probably has several dozen different units running.
226  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Pool is up coins on me on: March 10, 2013, 03:15:01 AM

Solo mining is technically always the highest payout on average.  The problem is a matter of scale.  At 1 GH/s on the Bitcoin network at this difficulty, it would take you about 8 months to find a block.  You get the payment all at once, nothing before you find it.  It could take you 4 years.  It could take you 4 minutes.  But "on average" it would be around 8 months.

The question is are you willing to make a gamble with that kind of payoff time, and are you really sure the market & network speed will be roughly stable during those 8 months?  Because if you don't find a block early when network difficulty is rising, that 8 month average will keep increasing.  If the market crashes before you find your block, you'll end up with less USD/EUR/etc. than you would have if you had been mining at a pool and selling the whole time.

I'm mining LTC and according to my pool I find a block every 24-36 hours.

Think of it as lotto numbers.  The pool picks a first batch of numbers, and you fill in the second while mining for them.  Solo mining, you pick all the numbers.  So if you had been solo mining, it doesn't mean you would have found the blocks.  You may have found even more, you may not have found one yet.

Thank you for explaining that for me.

So how does one decide if the awards from a pool are better than solo mining?
228  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Pool is up coins on me on: March 10, 2013, 02:49:03 AM
Finding a block at a pool is not the same as finding them solo. Pools reduce variance, but the payout over time should be similar, except for fees.

I do not understand how there is a difference between finding a block in a pool vs. finding one solo.  Could you/someone explain?  When I find a block in a pool I assume that I would have found the block solo mining the same, how would it be different?

Reducing variance is great, its the reason I joined a pool.  The idea was that I would be keeping a steady balance between the blocks I found for the pool and coins awarded to me.  Now the pool is getting a good jump on me and I am now down coins against them along with fees.  How far does the difference in pay between expected solo mining profits vs. pool mining profits need to be before 'reducing the variance' become not worth it?

I'm mining litecoins at notroll (3% pps) and since I started I've found 7 blocks and received 270 LTC's through the PPS system.  If I would have been solo mining I would be up 80 LTC.  The difference is still small, but I am wondering how this will play out in the future.  Should I be solo mining or am I just getting really lucky with finding the blocks?  Is this situation typical?  I'm at about 1100 kh/s if it matters.

Thank you for any replies.   Smiley

Hello, I have enjoyed visiting your site recently but today it says your site was taken down for violations against the SOPA.  This law never passed did it?  What is going on?  Good luck getting your site back online.

Hi Kingmidas,

Simply put...I am loving your site and I visit several times a day.  The new changes are disappointing but do what you gotta do to keep the site up and running.  Hopefully you can reduce the cooldown soon in the future.

Hi Charlie,

I just sent you a PM about my issue again.  I do not have an orderID due to not receiving an email after payment (this is the only way I've ever noticed receipt of it).  I can provide any other information needed, wallet address, zipzap account #, name, email, d.o.b., please let me know what you need to forward my coins!

EDIT:  Coins are on their way, Rachel stated I accidently included some extra text in my wallet address which caused the delay.  Unfortunately they were priced at today's market (17.6/btc) and not what it was yesterday when I made my purchase at walmart (~16.8/btc).  I thought that coin prices were locked when I made my payment, is this not the case?  This works out to about 11 bucks I'm missing because of the deposit delay.  I'm going to have to be much more careful filling out your forms!  Thanks again for your service!

I made a deposit yesterday using the bitcoin to email option. Completed the transaction at wal mart via money gram. I received the confirmation email from zip zap Inc but I have not received the email from coinapult. I have used this service several times in the past with no issue. Not sure what is going on this time. Please advise.

Same issue I'm having nearly.  I used btc to wallet instead of coinapult.  Past transactions I made I received an email from bitinstant right after paying at walmart.  Yesterday I got the email from zipzap but nothing from bitinstant.  Sent a message yesterday and still waiting to hear back a response.  Good luck to you sir!
