Economy / Speculation / Re: The psychology of a HODLer

You posted a load of bollocks on here yesterday, too.
You have sold. Attempting to spread FUD on here at what may turn out to be near the turning point (in the hope of buying in lower) is pretty low.
Well to be honest, I wont even consider buying back even if Bitcoin hits double digits. This experiment isn't alive among the people and is only being talked about by a select few that are 'convinced' that Satoshi reinvented the wheel. But to summarize the part that actually dealt with this topic: you believe that people HODL (only) for 'the long run'? Curious. Then get the fuck out of here then. Do you really think you are saving anyone? Everyone here knows that they can win or lose. It's idiot trolls like you that have turned this forum into a Bitcoin Ghetto.

Gox's new trading engine and all of the upcoming exchanges (ex, Coinsetter) are completely unnecessary given the total volume on all current exchanges.
Prediction: 4-5 months from now, there will be at least a dozen new exchanges, most averaging about 1,000 daily volume. This "fracturing" of volume will ultimately result in lots of smaller and consequently more easily manipulable exchanges. Gox will still maintain the lead with 5,000 daily volume on the very busiest days. But, Gox too will be primed for manipulation given lower volume and depth.
Prediction 2: 1 year from now, after enough reports of manipulation and investors getting ripped off, the SEC steps in and requires exchanges to monitor and put in place restrictions to stop blatant manipulation (or at least make it much more difficult/risky). Bitcoin gradually drops in value to almost nothing as the community realizes the price is and always has been driven by whale-walls.
I am tired of your bs. You are a real ray of sunshine and consistenty wrong. Do you ever grow tired of posting your negative garbage in this forum? Get out of your basement and talk to real people, try to develop positive relationships. You will be a much happier person in the long run. Welcome to ignore (my first). I shouldn't feed the trolls. My bad.

Finally got my Avalon today!
I'm running it with dynamic speed adjustment and I have it on a desk and a box right in front of my window AC unit which is feeding into the inlet. I have the AC set on high, cool, and 69 degrees. Seems right now frequency is stabilized at about 349MHz so far, and I'm getting about 87GH/s although sometimes it's as high as 90 or as low as 83. Probably needs more time to find out what the real average is.
I have a better AC unit coming tomorrow. It's a standalone unit and I'm going to have it piped right into the avalon intake. It's 12000 BTU so it might be a bit of an overkill. Hopefully I can run it on low. Will I be able to get above 90GH/s or so without getting a new power supply?
Anyways, my question is why does it show as a much lower (78GH/s or so) hash rate on the 50BTC.com website. Should I be using a different pool perhaps (I signed up for ozcoin but haven't tried it yet)? I believe 50BTC.com supports the stratum protocol and it says "true" under the stratum entries on the cgminer table, except for the last one "StratumURL".
Which is the hardware error field, btw? And what should that be kept below? Ugh, sorry for all the questions. I'm reading up as many threads as I can about the Avalon now, but it's hard to find all this information in one place (yes, I've read the wiki).
My hashrate on 50btc.com is incorrect also. It's a temporary problem and it happens every so often. You will be paid for what you submit.

ckolivas can I just download and install the binary through the software portion of the Avalon firmware?
No you cannot. You can only save it to the /tmp directory on the avalon flash drive and run it directly if you know how to. Otherwise you'll have to wait for xiangfu to make new test firmware with the updated software. Thanks for the quick response and for all the other stuff you do.

I've added custom temperature control to the avalon code in the cgminer git master.
It now acts like a simple PID controller trying to maintain a target temperature, which by default is set to 45 degrees, so it will try to keep the temp 43~45, but never going below a minimum fanspeed of 20% as a safety precaution and to maintain airflow.
You can modify this value with the new command:
--avalon-temp
Setting this to something very low will have the same effect as turning the fans up to maximum and vice versa.
If you are not running it from a command line, it can be added to the "More options" box in the web interface (once you have the binary on your machine).
Can someone please post a build of this? I haven't figured out how to compile it for openwrt yet. http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/temp/cgminerckolivas can I just download and install the binary through the software portion of the Avalon firmware?

As someone who is also trying to contact Yifu with no luck yet, I'd like to know: -how to open a support ticket? (i don't see this anywhere on the website). -what Yifu's email address is?
thanks in advance
It doesn't matter if you send a support ticket or email Yifu. He won't respond. Before I got my Avalon, I attempted both multiple times and got no response.

I feel your pain. I'm Canadian and I was in the same boat a while ago. No response from BitSyncom / Yifu until I called him out about my specific order.
BitSyncom / Yifu please help this guy out, and get him some answers please.
How'd you call him out? By creating my own topic like melmo with my early order number. Those were shitty days. I hope you guys get your units soon.

I have been waiting over 5 hours for my payment. Please pay me.
As you can verify in blockexplorer, this pool does all payouts without transaction fees. To do this, they include all payout transactions in the the blocks which the pools *itself* mines (because other miners might discard the transactions because of missing fees). So if 50BTC pool finds no block for 5 hours (which is bad luck but possible), the transaction will not be confirmed for 5 hours. You will have to wait until the next block is found by 50BTC ( http://blockchain.info/blocks/50BTC) until you will get your payout. It all makes sense now, thanks.
