Any answers for Jtimon?

Go for a couple Blue Fury's. Butterfly Labs does not deserve the business of this community.

+1

Never buy anything directly from BFL. Pain is the only guaranteed return on your investment.

Hello Friends,

I have an opportunity to buy one of the following devices, used and in hands:

- Butterfly Labs 5Ghps at $250;

- or 2 Blue Fury at $120 each.

My current rig is made by only 4 USB Eruptors.

Would you suggest me to buy the Butterfly Labs or the Blue Fury?

Thanks!

Both sucks, why not get those 1-2 TH/s which is going to come out soon..

http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/  Price for that 1 - 2 Th/s?
3024  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: RedFury 2.6GH USB miner will ti pay for itself? on: November 15, 2013, 08:57:59 AM
so it means none of miners make money?

Correct. You can use mining calculators to figure that out... but if you want to learn about mining and get into it a USB is a good way to learn and reasonably priced for new miners.

3025  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: November 15, 2013, 07:57:05 AM
Hey Giorgio.

Any updates on how the CoinCraft Desk and CoinCraft Rigs miners are coming?

We don't want another BFL experience. Sorry if I'm being an ass here but I think we all deserve to be treated respectfully as customers.

Would be great if you can post something about the production line or something to keep your customers updated.

Thanks

I'm not sure if Bitmine missed to post a link in this thread or I missed the related post, but from their news section (https://bitmine.ch/?p=2535) the FPGA-based chip emulation passed validation, which essentially means chip will be hashing. Quite a significant step and for sure worth mentioning.

Thanks Zefir... good to hear that.

We are keen on getting revised chip specs (drawings) that resolve issues we noted in your chip buy thread.

well said...  Grin as zulover pointed out friedcat is getting rid of his trash to prepare for gen2 chips arrival... the brighter side of this: suckers are getting wiser and asicminer shareholders are getting more anxious  Cheesy

While carrying out your plans be flexible enough to take advantage of any opportunity that presents itself, however small, and avail yourself of any profit, however slight.

Nothing to see here but a train wrecked, move along...

This is recycled Gen1 technology (110nm), 2 BTC for 38GH (overclocked) at 280-Watt is pathetic to say the least when even low-life Avalon is selling their 23GH module for 1 BTC.

This makes Avalon Gen2 HEX16A2 24GH board looks good in comparison, for the same 2 BTC, you get 48GH total hashing power.  You do need a host computer and PSU, but that's just meant the GH / BTC cost ratio is the same at much lower power usage (100 Watts?) with the Avalon Gen2.

But as I have already mentioned, the KnC 28nm (Gen3) have already far surpassed Avalon Gen2 in price and efficiency, and it is just going to get worse with HashFast (December) and CoinTerra (January).

The much deserved end is in sight for both Avalon and ASICMiner.

P.S.  I have to laugh at "New Generation"?!?  Who are they trying to fool?  Oh yeah, newbies.

You a forgot BFL in your Asicminer / Avalon list. Have a look at the Rules of Acquistion... I see quite a few of these tactics used by all 3.

3028  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Monarch update on: November 14, 2013, 11:17:26 AM
It's entirely possible BFL has shipped less then 350Th/s.  That's about 6k 60Gh/s singles 70k Jalapenos.

Also, pretty much every claim BFL has made about shipping dates has been a lie, why would you belive their statements about shipping quantities?

BFL is still over a year late on huge number of orders, and most of their customers will never ROI.  KnC shipped me my Saturn 15 days earlier then promised, and I'm pretty sure it's already paid for itself in USD (which is what I used to buy it).  I know which company I have more confidence in.

the orignal lot of wafers were good for about .8 originally, then they had to double up the chips, and those ran out on about January orders, which was probably about a third of the way through. They re-ordered a LOT more, to cover the rest and the chip sales, but I'm thinking maybe only double the previous batch, which I'm thinking is gonna be in the region of 1.5PH altogether.

[citation required]

KnC bad math? I'd like them to justify their claim of 70% of the bitcoin being mined but the real issue here is that BFL has no CHIP for the Monarch. Given the limited specs they claim that this new offering will have, significant problems are already inherent in the design they propose specifically with the board and power and given what they faced already with the first ASICs they have made... well let us say BFL do not have the brainpower to avoid the obvious let alone the hidden problems at 28nm. The fact BFL has not taped out yet... oh boy this unit is a dog before it even gets to prototype testing sometime in what... February or March? Pissing away $4.6K USD on this unit is foolish and people need to be warned off it. Let us not worry so much about about bragging rights for the network let us just poke the Monarch with a stick and call it DOA already.

PREjudice & PREjudgement imply without any basis, while i can submit i have not experienced the entire asian population of the planet(kinda stupid thing to have to say)the numbers that i have experienced afford me the right to judge (IN MY EXPERIENCE) those that have failed to show concern or empathy with a life in suffering....in my experience.

can we get back on topic now?

Soon as you REDACT the racist comments sure.

Why shouldn't scammers get a pass? Cause it is WRONG.
Why shouldn't racism get a pass? Cause it is WRONG.

Next time keep your slurs to yourself and you won't need to be edmucated by me.

Your EXPERIENCE is pure unadulterated bullshit as it has no basis in fact. I am calling you out on it cause it is BASELESS.

Ways to Reduce Prejudice

In addition to looking at the reasons why prejudice occurs, researchers have also explored different ways that prejudice can be reduced or even eliminated. Training people to become more empathetic to members of other groups is one method that has shown considerable success. By imaging themselves in the same situation, people are able to think about how they would react and gain a greater understanding of other people's actions.

Other techniques that are used to reduce prejudice include:

Passing laws and regulations that require fair and equal treatment for all groups of people.

Gaining public support and awareness for anti-prejudice social norms.

Making people aware of the inconsistencies in their own beliefs. You are welcome Edgar.

Increased contact with members of other social groups.

i wrote that but deleted it for fear of being called a racist - but yes, this is true

i'll also add that they are much more sociopathic in my limited experience

i was really hoping payonix was legit

"Race is a real cultural, political and economic concept in society, but it is not a biological concept, and that unfortunately is what many people wrongfully consider to be the essence of race in humans -- genetic differences," says Templeton. "Evolutionary history is the key to understanding race, and new molecular biology techniques offer so much on recent evolutionary history. I wanted to bring some objectivity to the topic. This very objective analysis shows the outcome is not even a close call: There's nothing even like a really distinct subdivision of humanity." - Alan R. Templeton, Ph.D., professor of biology in Arts and Sciences at Washington University

How does one determine if a cultural, political and economic demographic within any society is "much more sociopathic"?

Where is there any evidence to support that claim? http://www.amazon.com/Sociopath-Next-Door-Martha-Stout/dp/0767915828?tag=vglnkc3725-20 Might want to read this book Edgar... and are you part of the 4% of Australians or Canadians, or Americans or Japanese or... that are sociopaths? See where I am going with this... 4% of the TOTAL human population.

Psychologist Martha Stout who clinical instructor in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School for 25 years estimates in her book The Sociopath Next Door that as many as 4% of the population are conscienceless sociopaths who have no empathy or affectionate feelings for humans or animals.

fair play, but in MY EXPERIENCE, asians are more likely to SHOW their lack of empathy/care/genuine regard

whereas a non asian sociopath would perhaps tend to mask it with fake consideration.(the wolf in sheeps clothing)

Only in asia have i seen such disregard for life, though i wont deny that all 'races' have their selfish, greedy monsters

now how about those hashing stats?

Your experience is unlikely a fair measure of the whole ASIAN population on this planet would you not agree?

"Prejudice is a baseless and usually negative attitude toward members of a group. Common features of prejudice include negative feelings, stereotyped beliefs, and a tendency to discriminate against members of the group. While specific definitions of prejudice given by social scientists often differ, most agree that it involves prejudgments (usually negative) about members of a group."

Your statements are prejudice and baseless. Your personal observations say more about you as human being than it does of Asians. As for not seeing disregard for life outside Asia then you are not looking hard enough. Might want to wax poetic on race in your own mind because that is probably the only place the statements you are making are valid.

In 2013 one should expect scammers in Bitcointalk but not racism surely?

He singlehandedly destroyed the community mining projects and caused Bkkcoins, developer of the K16, to disappear without a trace

Uh, not to be defending scumbag sellout Yifu, but can you cite a source for this information?  Specifically the "caused" part.  That's a pretty serious accusation.

Just trying to keep my facts straight.

He didn't directly cause it, but Chris expressed multiple times that he was becoming disillusioned with the K16 project specifically because of Yifu's actions. I didn't mean to imply he ordered a hit on him or anything.

Chris has to take responsibility for his own failure whether or not Yifu caused it. I am more worried about Chris' health and safety as opposed to Yifu being the cause of the discord at this point and it would be great to find out definitively he is alive and well.

As for Yifu and this... I welcome him working with bankers given his past performance I can't see his work on this amounting to much more than heartache for the banksters.

Guys, I think it's amazing that this project is finally off the ground and working. I'm just sad I wasn't able to turn all these fancy parts in my office into miners...

I have a question. At what point do we give Bkkcoins a scammer tag? I hate to even suggest it as he gave a lot of his time to get the K16 95% finished before the chip debacle. I was with him the whole way and even sent him beer money so he could buy the equipment he needed. The fact stands that he still has 8 of my bitcoins, and everyday it's more and more obvious that he isn't returning. Other avenues of contact seem to have failed. How long do we give him?

Is he even alive?

No one has been able to contact him and he has not surfaced anywhere. Again maybe the people in Thailand can do more digging on this and see what is going on. Someone needs to do some proper investigating into this in Thailand not just some calls to the numbers... but actually checking out his residence and with the people he has had contact with in Thailand. I got no response from calls, emails, postcards... at this point someone needs to take this to the next level and physically track him down.
3036  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: RedFury 2.6GH USB miner will ti pay for itself? on: November 14, 2013, 03:24:59 AM
Now they are for 0,2BTC each.
will they pay for themselves or its actually a lost cause and not worth it?

Depends... are you just mining to learn about mining or going only for profitability in BTC?

Very few miners if any are profitable given the costs of production and chips and the increasing of difficulty. As many have said if you are looking to get a profit in BTC... buy BTC at this time. As more mining power comes online the numbers will not get better for miners only worse.

IBB should check out FRC... as it has built in demurrage that is inline with Muslim banking practices.

Got a full refund for everything finally, don't know why they couldn't have just done it in the first place and saved us all a load of hassle!!

You would think right? My opinion this goes down as more evidence that BFL lacks an ethical foundation. They are untrustworthy and should be avoided.

Reading comprehension, morans.

I have resold and mined both your FPGA and ASIC lines, and have made quite a bit of coin doing so

if you are able to actually deliver your 28nm products with a reasonable price, hashrate, and power consumption.
(emphasis added)

I've made a lot of fiat money from BFL and if they deliver monarch and it has a superior hps/$ value to other offerings and I see that the queue is fulfilling well then yeah, I'll buy it. However, at this point in time it is clear to me that BFL has serious engineering gaps and for all I know are bleeding cash directly into Chapter 7 so no I am not going to put my money into a pie in the sky offering. When ASICs were first announced, the bump in hps/$ (4,000%) justified the risk of investment, a risk that paid off huge for me. The move from 65nm to 28nm isn't even a 278% boost. I've made more than that holding coins in the last month.

+1 measured and well thought out response. Take heed of what Fjordbit is saying. No hate, no bs, no axe to grind... just a clear risk assessment versus holding coin.

"so no I am not going to put my money into a pie in the sky offering."  <--- that is the line that needs to be highlighted for newbies coming into this forum who might consider BFL Monarch's.

If you are not basing decisions off the very limited number of people who actually gained off BFL equipment then you probably deserve to get ripped off.
