[RESERVED]
4663  Bitcoin / Hardware / [REFERENCE] Klondike DIYers Thread on: June 06, 2013, 06:08:20 PM
Seeing as there are quite a few threads I think it be nice to collect the better bits and keep it as a reference for the DIY'ers out there. I will add links to threads and outside sources. Feel free to discuss below anything that you do not want to clutter BKKCoins thread. Keep things KLONDIKE related or adjacent like Alten or Burins builds. Others who are producing Klondikes are welcome to add and report their project progress here as well. I will try and consolidate and summarize things in the reserved / update section.

Might be good to consolidate all our various extra Klondike threads to one.

1. Casings
2. Controllers
3. PSUs and cabling
4. Firmware  / Mining Software
5. Miscellaneous
6. DIY Build information
7. Pricing and sourcing of PCB, BOM, etc.
8. Heat sinks and cooling

Yikes, can you imagine the noise in that thread with all the different topics. Methinks this might/should turn into its own subforum.

No not really... better to have slow and fast together... one repository. Harder to follow all these different threads especially with some of these get buried and lost especially with all the hate mail BFL threads messing up this subforum.

I'd prefer we house all the best information for the Klondike build in one thread.
4665  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: June 06, 2013, 05:57:48 PM
Mid June at the latest, but i hope to have everything done before that.
What happened with mid-May?
BFL-style delay?

(just kidding Wink )

Just one thing to remember:
These delays are not delays in development, just delays in me accepting your orders.
Its not like you're missing out on something, all of you have ordered your chips and they are on their way.
I decided to handle all this in a more cautious and professional manor.
Unlike BFL I will start taking orders when my product is really ready and all aspects about it are covered.

+1  You are my mentor. I will follow.

Possibly USD and BTC for those interested... but you need to contact JOE directly in the thread on Freicoin forums post above and in my SIG.
4669  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs Ships For Real This Time? Also to sell ASICs direct in bulk? on: June 06, 2013, 05:10:45 PM

Had an May 2013 order, for which I asked a refund and I think it was the good decision. For 2/3 of that price I can get a Klondike at 4.5 Ghz that will arrive within 90 days for sure...

I have 540 chips on order... and I am not that sure... dial it back son.
4670  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: June 06, 2013, 05:07:52 PM
Seen some talks about wr703 - its a nice litte router. but you should REALLY check this out too!:
http://8devices.com/carambola & http://8devices.com/carambola-2

At 33 Euros, it's hardly cheap and that's WITHOUT a case and power supply far as I can tell. It doesn't take too much CPU power to mine.

id rather go with a pi. Costs $45 - 50, but you have a device with 512 MB RAM. (~490 MB usable). You can put all sorts of things on it like monitoring, etc. Doesnt make sense to me to save a few bucks one would use 32/64MB devices...especially when this is a small fraction of the overall expense...

Perhaps talk of host machines is polluting the thread? This thread should be about Klondike ...

Maybe another alternative thread for everything non K1 , K16 board specific?

Heat sinks, casing, host controllers fans etc? Need a lot of info to gather in one spot for people like me that need all the help they can get on this DIY build.

Avalon Chip Group buy 500 FRC/chip! 8,985 left

http://www.freicoin.org/post4668.html#p4668

Of forgot to add we are now looking at a chip group buy for Indonesia. Possibly pledged 3000 to 4000 chips already. I will post more later as I get more info from everyone involved. Those outside Indonesia are also welcome to chip in once we are ready.

One of these boys is on it's way to you

The holes are with thread M3
In this version with thread only it's more efficient ( it's  one operation less on cnc machine) to cut only 4 mm release for PCI-e and not full cut

They look like they would suck a lot of heat... +1 Marto. Same as your drawings right?

That is great... maybe we can start building a larger community as well here in Jakarta. If I can get a chance loved to meet up with other Bitcoiners in Spore. Sounds like we should think about getting a bitcoin conference going in Spore next year eh?
4678  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Klondike Indonesia (Big Picture Mining Indonesia) on: June 06, 2013, 06:20:31 AM
Thanks KEV will do.

I am meeting up tonite in Gading Serpong with a GPU Mining Farm owner to discuss the development of the K16 and K256 in the Indonesian market. I will post some news about this tomorrow depending on what we decide to do to move forward. Nice to get a chance to meet up with others in Bitcoin here in Jakarta. Maybe the first of many future meetings with others interested in Bitcoin and mining here.

4679  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL creates new charity project to donate 1000 BTC to [ROFL!] on: June 06, 2013, 04:42:47 AM
The thing as a Montessorian and this whole affair is the whole inequity and lack of ethical behavior at every turn and it is shocking given the reality that a 6 year old can and will choose right from wrong each and every day given the right environment. At this point supporting BFL is not really productive for anyone but those with a vested interest in getting mining rigs they were promised delivered. Sickening they have waited this long and it is sickening they will continue to wait.

Honesty and ethics can be part of any environment... all one has to do is choose to be ethical and honest it is simple as that.
In light of your efforts, your words carry significant weight.

BFL? Well, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it never ceases being a pig. (In my opinion)

I take my lead in this community from the following people not in any order.

John K
Everyone on the Avalon Team
Those who continually 'Troll BFL' in order to educate the community about their unethical practices
Those who defend BFL but understand that they are shady and probably unethical (we need balance)
BKKCoins
Makku
Jtimon
Galambo
TheSeven and the team behind the X6500 fpga!

... and many many more people who do give back to this community that I do not know of yet.

The reason so many are pissed is the real beauty of the community. People are not here sitting back and taking the bullshit, they are fighting the hypocrisy in the community. There is also a healthy and respected core of humanity that far out weighs the scammers and douchebags which is pretty much the reality on this planet. Most people are honest, hard working and willing and able to share their knowledge and work and are respected and rewarded for the most part we can obviously do more for the likes for Ckolivas, Bkkcoins, TheSeven and JohnK as well as others who give back to the community. That is where I want to focus my students attention to those who have skills, who give to the community and are respected in their fields. I am just a teacher and I get all the respect I need or crave in the classroom when my students achieve anything.
