101  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Ars: Satoshi Dice rakes in more than $500,000 profit in six months on: February 14, 2013, 06:57:07 PM
Is Satoshi Dice still popular?
102  Economy / Speculation / Re: I call myself out of this game. on: February 14, 2013, 06:55:33 PM
The number of people involved in bitcoin has gone up a lot recently.

That can lead to unpredictable swings but over time it will drive the price up.
103  Other / Meta / Re: Forum lagging hard on: February 14, 2013, 06:54:07 PM
The lag varies by hour, obviously caused by server load. The site has been getting a lot of traffic.
104  Other / Meta / Re: Upcoming downtime on: February 14, 2013, 06:53:14 PM
Just got a 502 for a few seconds
105  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: February 14, 2013, 06:52:06 PM
Probably because you are fairly new here. Somewhere around page 250 or so he stopped trying to predict and just started attempting to manipulate. Either that or I just figured it out about them.  Embarrassed
Yeah. You figured it out.
106  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and Deflation of Price and Money Supply on: February 14, 2013, 06:30:29 PM
Please, the definition of inflation is not that controversial of a topic!

I have the feeling somebody is getting trolled here.
107  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ripple SOUNDS nice but there are some MAJOR problems on: February 14, 2013, 05:49:10 PM
Ripple as a currency is doomed because it is just another fiat currency.

It may be an interesting experiment, but it won't last very long.
108  Other / Off-topic / Re: Foolproof way of communicating without fear of keyloggers on: February 14, 2013, 05:48:14 PM
In case you missed that -

getClipboardData() is a common feature. Even if you're not on Windows it can still be done.

This is a feature that lets any program see what is in the clipboard. It's necessary so that things like Copy/Paste work properly.

I haven't heard of much spyware that records everything in the clipboard. That's not what this is about, though. If someone installed a hardware keylogger on your PC then they probably installed spyware on it too. Once there's spyware installed, it can record more than just what you type. Since the last step in this foolproof method is to copy/paste the message, then the spyware just records what you pasted. Smiley
109  Other / Off-topic / Re: Music Industry on: February 14, 2013, 05:45:20 PM
Youtube has done more to change the music industry than bitcoin ever will.

Apples and Oranges. Bitcoin is about money. Music, like the OP said, shouldn't be (but if there's a profit to be made someone will do it).
110  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Washington D.C. to Deploy Giant Defense Blimps. A little fearful aren't we? on: February 14, 2013, 05:40:32 PM
This! The Key West Blimp is probably more of the platform they're thinking of.
111  Other / Politics & Society / Re: There is a man who has declared war against the Los Angeles Police Department... on: February 14, 2013, 05:38:49 PM
If Dorner was doing any sort of inside job, they can't leave loose ends, can they?

Even just because he shot an LAPD officer: they never would have let him live to see a trial.

I am glad the killing has stopped. Now let's see if Obama starts legislating against guns... already is! Smiley
112  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: February 14, 2013, 05:37:23 PM
Welcome! You shouldn't get 20% GPU errors like that, have you overclocked the card like crazy? (Just a guess)
113  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ripple SOUNDS nice but there are some MAJOR problems on: February 13, 2013, 02:10:04 PM
I'm with justusranvier: trading debt isn't nearly as useful or valuable as what bitcoin offers.

Ripple may have a nice rise but I predict it will succumb to a bubble once the initial enthusiasm wears off.
114  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Are Botnets Afraid of ASICs? on: February 13, 2013, 02:03:38 PM
Difficulty projections are in the high 3 million or low 4 million for the next adjustment, so botnets can probably continue to generate coins.

Hopefully soon the ASICs will push difficulty up enough botnets will lose interest.
115  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where is the damn correction??? on: February 13, 2013, 02:01:13 PM
Still a green candle yesterday.
116  Other / Politics & Society / Re: First they came for your iPad, and nobody said anything... on: February 11, 2013, 06:36:18 AM
Don't forget that their interpretation of "the border" is "anywhere within 100 miles of the border." Wired made you a handy map.

I present, The Constitution-Free Zone:
117  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Amazon releases Amazon Coins... reactions? on: February 08, 2013, 11:29:51 AM
Just because a company starts offering something and uses the word "coin," it's definitely not bitcoin.

They just want to ride the vibe. Bitcoin is cool, why not call our product "coin" too?
118  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Washington D.C. to Deploy Giant Defense Blimps. A little fearful aren't we? on: February 08, 2013, 11:25:42 AM
Drones also don't work in DC because of the potential for them to malfunction. 2 gigantic blimps just say, "I'm in charge," in a really concrete way, also avoiding the panic if some drone goes haywire.
119  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Are Botnets Afraid of ASICs? on: February 08, 2013, 11:24:05 AM
Yes, except there's a point where flogging your botnet for the maximum BTC output could result in marginal bots going down for good.

Now that there's nothing to lose because ASICs are on the rise, flog your botnet.

stan.distortion: awesome! I hadn't thought about the fear it will inspire, seeing it there blocking out the sky.
