142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / suddently dropped hashrate in litecoin mining on: March 11, 2013, 07:58:55 AM
Ok, guys/gals I have a question. Still new to all this mining stuff, so...  I've been mining litecoins for a while now
I have radeon 7970 and 6770 and bunch of CPU miners (around 30khash/s)
Not sure what happened ddos or what, but miners wouldn't connect to pool-x or ozco.in. When i finally was able to connect, every miner would have like 95% off stale shares
after while and working with cgminer settings, (cgminer --scrypt --worksize 256 --shaders 1792  --lookup-gap 2 -g 1 --thread-concurrency 8000 --intensity 13 -o http://pool:9332 -u xxxx.x -p xxx ) I got stale around 10% but speed dropped significantly. Before I had 530khash/sec on my 7970 now I have like 490 and different settings wont bring it up (just makes more stale shares) and while my speed overall is dropped, suddenly I see pool-x users get crazy hashrates, like 12700khash and ozco.in is even more. So... two questions:
Does anybody know what do they use? Asics or something?  and what settings could I use to improve my speed? I've tried various of different options for cgminer, but only get more stale.
Thanks
143  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Weird issue with litecoin mining on AMD CPUs... on: January 03, 2013, 04:34:13 PM
Damn, you were right, they do overheat... 10 minutes is all they last when I start LTC mining. Intel CPUs keep mining and mining and mining... No issues. I knew that AMD processors run hotter therefore my heat sinks and cooling aren't pathetic. Heck, I even put window box fan next to opened case, when I had excessive heat problems, that usually solves, but not this time... Yet ATI video cards do BTC mining just fine without overheating. So, what should I do? get water cooling?
144  Other / Beginners & Help / Weird issue with litecoin mining on AMD CPUs... on: January 02, 2013, 10:40:06 AM
Hey, guys (gals too), I've been reading this forum for a while, now I decided to register and ask a question while I am at it...
So, while I'm doing GPU bitcoin mining, I figured I should utilize my CPUs as well. I have 3 computers with Intel CPUs. Xeon X3430 (windows 2003 x64), i7 (windows XP x64), quadcore Intel (freebsd) these computers mine just fine and I get about 27kHash/sec. Now, I also have 3 AMD machines Athlon II x4 (XP, win7, freebsd all x64) and this is where it gets interesting. After about 5-7 minutes of mining and reaching speeds about 23-24kHash/sec they shutdown. No problems with them otherwise until I start miner... same software, same settings on all of them. I turn them back on and they stay on fine, and no bios warning messages that the computer was shutdown due to thermal event or something like that. And I start miner... and they off again. So... AMD CPUs are no good for mining or something?
