I wonder if we'll see the big cartels doing DOS on Silk road or denouncing their owners to the police (or doing worst) in order to end online competition.

Anonymity might be helpful not only against the police.

I already quoted Calgacus about the Romans: "you make a desert and call it peace"

The numbers of the death in Chechnya are controversial, as the numbers of the 2002 census.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_Second_Chechen_War#Independent_estimates
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chechnya#Demographics

15%, 20% of the population killed? I don't know, but I know you can solve all problems when you kill enough people. Unfortunately, I think I'm quoting Stalin.

I don't have much sympathy for the Chechens, and, if I had, the Beslan School attack wouldn't left much. But I think it's beyond any reasonable argument to deny the will of the majority for independence.

I accept that the Russians of Crimea want to unite with Russia (but not the Tartars, that were the original inhabitants and were expelled by Stalin)

Who told you that the Tatars are the original inhabitants of Crimea? The Tatars are a Turkic / Asian ethnic group which migrated to Crimea relatively recently (16th century AD). The Slavs were living in Crimea peacefully for many thousands of years prior to their arrival. The Tatars enslaved the original population and dominated them, until they were defeated by the Russians in the 18th century.

Tatars were there before the XVI century. It seems they arrived with the mongols, in the XIII century. But they mixed with the local population, so present tatars have even longer standing there.

But Tatars were the population in place when the Soviet Union was formed. If you want to go up to Adam and Eve to look for the original people, be my guest.

We both know that the Tatars were not friendly people.
604  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evidences of chechens fighting in Ukraine? on: June 02, 2014, 03:57:12 PM
I don't know the truth. Contrary to some, I have no clear ideas on the situation on eastern Ukraine.

However:

1) As in Crimea, there are armed and organized russians there, much more than 14. It's of no importance if they are organized in the battalion X or Y.

2) I have serious doubts that with all that organization and arms that they are real voluntaries. Voluntaries are people that decide to go fight on a personal decision. Usually, they arrive unarmed and with no organization. Someone organized them, paid them and gave them weapons.

3) Kadyrov denies sending them and says that he can't control chechens, but he also says he knows exactly how many are in Ukraine: just 14. For someone that says he isn't controlling anyone, he seems to be very shore about how many are in Ukraine.

4) There are reports of fighting in one Ukrainian border because of an attempt of crossing of a military convoy from Russia, even if Russia denied that (seems a more or less balanced news: http://news.yahoo.com/chechen-leader-denies-sending-troops-ukraine-120612671.html). But if Russia has nothing to do with those convoys, how can she deny them? Can't those convoys be passing the borders out of its control and knowledge?
605  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evidence of Neo Nazi in Ukrainian military units. on: June 02, 2014, 05:20:17 AM
The information that the right sector hasn't take part in the hostilities is presented by a commander of the rebels, not by the Ukrainian government.

And this conclusion seems to be typical of a band of amateurs, that like to show off for the pictures, but don't have what it takes to do the real fight.
606  Other / Politics & Society / Evidences of chechens fighting in Ukraine? on: June 02, 2014, 05:16:13 AM
There seem to be mounting evidences that the russians that were in Crimea and are now in eastern Ukraine are Chechens from the disbanded Vostok Battalion (http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-27633117).

I'm taking this news from BBC with some prudence, since BBC hasn't been completely balanced on the conflict. But the article seem credible.

I think no one will deny that there are armed russians citizens in Ukraine. It seems about 30 of them were returned home, dead, after the take over of the Donetsk airport by the Ukrainian army. Some of the leaders of the rebels are russian citizens.

One of these soldiers said they received orders from Kadyrov (the pro-Moscow strong man in Chechnya) to go to Ukraine. Kadyrov didn't deny there were Chechens in Ukraine, but said he didn't give any such order (http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-27633117).

Would anyone believe these more or less mercenaries went there on their free will? Or that Kadyrov would decide that without superior instructions?
607  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evidence of Neo Nazi in Ukrainian military units. on: June 02, 2014, 04:56:19 AM
It's well known that right sector and other nationalist para-military groups provided for security in Kiev since almost all the cops were fired because of connections to the previously government (see an old news on it: http://www.friatider.se/swede-patrols-ukraines-streets-with-right-wing-paramilitaries). That says much about abuses from the new Government.

And there are para-military units connected to the right-sector in eastern Ukraine, with some links with the Ukrainian army. The fact that the Svoboda controlled the ministry of defense until 25 March could explain that. But on the 25 its minister was replaced by a general with no political links to this party. And it seems the right-sector has taken no party in the hostilities with rebels, but mostly harassed civilians, as said by rebels (http://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2014/06/02/right-sector-looting-attacking-citizens-eastern-ukraine-donbass-battalion-commander.html).

Since the candidates of Svoboda and the right sector had less than 2% in the recent presidential elections, it's amazing that Ukraine keep the first in the Government with all the political cost this has.

Well, I'm resting my case here. Write alone if you want.

Thank you. That was very generous and open-minded of you.

You were more gallant than I was expecting. But I stand on my point, you lose credibility by those patriotic wild posts, with no evidence or even justification, and end up hurting Russian cause. I have no side here, I have defended Russia in several posts.

609  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How long would it take for Anarchy to start working? on: June 01, 2014, 11:11:25 PM
If I understood correctly, your point was that in current Democracy, the big fish already rule. I answered that, even so, they have much less power than they would have in an anarchic society, that you seem to be defending.

If you write that the power vacuum would end by some group taking power, well, that is feudalism.

But I'm really missing your point on how technology will save us from feudalism.

Taking in account the end of the movie from which they copied the name, I wonder if it was a good idea to name their product this way.

Won't someone living on this find himself with digestive problems after their organism lose the habit to digest hard things, like red meat...

Is the FDA really going to approve it?
611  Economy / Services / Re: Wouldn't it be profitable for sig services to offer jobs to newbies-jr.members? on: June 01, 2014, 07:21:58 PM
Because some new campaigns can't pay competitive prices, since these have been increasing, I think they won't have an alternative than to accept low paid junior members signature.

Since junior members can insert links in their signature and already have some time on the forum, if don't see justification to left them outside.
612  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is the West gearing up to invade Russia once again? on: June 01, 2014, 06:48:46 PM
I know Hillary has assumed more aggressive positions on Afghanistan, Libya or Syria than even Obama, but you really see her invading Russia? Come on...

So, the US interfered in Ukraine political situation, therefore Russia can invade it and annex a part of its territory...

Can't one distance himself from his State interests when one is commenting on a forum? I saw Russians protesting against the movement against Crimea. I doubt that all Russians have a clean conscience on that.
613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lets make something clear on: June 01, 2014, 06:12:04 PM
As someone wrote, as a junior, you can already be paid by your signature with this https://bitcoin-scratchticket.com/#signature

But you can also use your signature with this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=609027.0
But it's not a paid per post, but an affiliate system. And read the fine print, because they have some controversial rules.

Of course, I'm in no way endorsing any of those sites.
614  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How long would it take for Anarchy to start working? on: June 01, 2014, 06:06:41 PM
Of course, big fish have much more power than the averaged citizen, even in a Democracy.

But in democracy, they can't kill you or take your freedom or goods as easily as in a feudalistic system. Without a central power, we would end in that soon.
615  Other / Meta / Re: Just a question about begging [Lending section] on: June 01, 2014, 05:54:12 PM
Alright, Theymos and you rule the forum, I just presented my points.
616  Other / Meta / Re: Just a question about begging [Lending section] on: June 01, 2014, 05:08:14 PM
If the forum prohibits something because of all the scams, it should also prohibit trading, at least for newbies, for the same reason.

I don't think there would be that much beggars. They would see fast that it wouldn't be worthy. Only people presenting evidence of their situation or old members of the forum could have some luck.

Anyway, the forum would have something to earn with more traffic.
617  Economy / Services / Re: ZOOMHASH.COM pays for your signature space! 50 posts required, weekly payments! on: June 01, 2014, 04:55:35 PM
Ad campaigns with lower payment could get cheap signatures from junior members, since almost no campaign accepts them.

If I remember correctly, their signature supports links.
618  Economy / Services / Re: [ANN][CRYPTOMART] - Auction platform where people can sell stuff for Crypto on: June 01, 2014, 04:50:52 PM
Your site might have more visibility with a post in the appropriate subforum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=84.0
619  Other / Meta / Re: Just a question about begging [Lending section] on: June 01, 2014, 04:47:10 PM
Of course it would be fun. And, as said, no one would have to read.

On a more serious perspective, isn't charity a Christian duty? Can we rule out that some of the beggars might deserve help? Why can't a NGO come to the forum and ask for donations?

This forum is a free space. Why one of the most basic human act, asking for help, has to be prohibited? In many states there is indeed a prohibition of begging. Should that be the model?
620  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you know if bitcoin has an intrinsic value and where it comes from? on: June 01, 2014, 04:10:41 PM
Yes, a thing, separated from the other, has no value or utility whatsoever, but, of course, it makes perfect sense to separate them and evaluate bitcoin without the network.

It's like evaluating the value of bitcoins in a wallet when its owner lost the password and private key.
